How can she leave him to die?

June Farrow works for Cold Plains Search and Rescue as cover for her real mission - helping Devotees escape from Samuel Grayson's evil cult. The rugged man she finds in the woods has no memory, but evidence points to his being one of Grayson's murderous enforcers. Hardwired to save lives, June's only option is to take him to the safe house.

"Jesse" is the name on his belt buckle - that's about the only thing he knows. Now he's being held prisoner by a beautiful stranger. The fierce attraction between them threatens to awaken details from his past. But how can he even trust himself when he might destroy those he's trying to protect?

The Perfect Outsider (Perfect, Wyoming, #5) Reviews

Oh my...where have I been and not having had the opportunity to read a Loreth Anne White book. She is a new author to this reader and "The Perfect Outsider" was a thoroughly enjoyable listen. It was quick, fast paced and had its twists and turns. This story of June and Jesse captured my attention right from the start until we get to the end. I felt like the rug pulled from under my feet as there was no closure for June and Jesse on their quest for justice. Leaving this reader hanging was a big disappointment...cliffhangers are not my taste. Would have rated this higher if not for the ending.

Christie Claire is a new narrator to this listener. She did a very good job of narration.

This storyline had lots of potential as being a really good story, but just wasn't executed in a way that made this story great. It focuses on a greeting widow whose son and husband died soon after her husband joined a cult. After this traumatic experience, June, the main character devotes her life to rescuing people who want to escape a cult and are in a dangerous situation because of it. She mets a man who has retrograde amnesia due to a head injury and many signs show that this man might be a part if the cult inforcers. She helps him anyways and they develop feelings for each other. I felt that it was unbelieveable that June would open up so much to this stranger when it could be a real possibility that he is part of the cult, she brings him to the safe house and tells him all about her under cover work in this community which i feel is unrealistic for the story. I thought their relationship could have been better developed and her confiding so easily undermined the credibility and intelligence of her character. I also thought that for such a small community it is unrealistic that they wouldnt be suspicious about the many disappearances and that if the cult leader was so violent the town would have likely known. Overall this had lots of potential but just wasn't one of the best books.

Fun paced action fill book. Will go back and read more from this author. ( Audiobook read by Claire Christie, who has a nice full mature voice. Nice to listen to )

Very good book. When June finds Jesse injured in the woods she has no choice but to bring him back to the safe house to save his life. She locks him up to protect the inhabitants, but as she questions him she gets the feeling his amnesia is real and that he is no threat to them. Jesse feels he's there to do something concerning Samuel Grayson, but he can't remember what. The more time they spend together the more their attraction grows, and the more Jesse fears that he might cause more harm than good. I loved the way Jesse tried to hard to protect June. By the end of the book you could see how much they loved each other. I'm really looking forward to the last book in the series and seeing Samuel go down.

Second book I've read in this series & I loved it. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this series since its written by different authors but so far so good. I haven't read the first 3 in the series but I'm definitely going to get to those as well as the last one. OH, & there's something about Jesse that makes me say "YUM". I thought he was so sexy for some reason. Probably all the rugged manliness.

It wasn't bad. I actually liked it. Not loved but liked. Interesting storyline/plot and it held my attention to the end.
