With His Dying Breath (Kindle Edition) by Nancy Hogue
Set in River Town out side of Macon Georgia, very wealthy Blake Brockton is found murdered and his young wife is the number one suspect. Young JJ Matthews, only seventeen years old, can't believe that Sammi Brockton did it. JJ is determined to find out who the real killer is.
A nice cozy murder/mystery set in a small town in the south. Filled with colorful characters and Southern charm made this a fun read. JJ was very likable, an original story with such a young "Junior detective". I like the gossipy back story, there were unexpected twists which made a perfect who-done-it.
Those who love murder/mystery should enjoy

Nancy Hogue is a good writer. Usually, I don't read murder mystery books, and I enjoyed this one.
JJ is a high school student who finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation since her dad is a writer for the paper. Sammi's husband is the one murdered and she is the suspect.
The town is under attack, bombing, killing, and fires, but they can't figure out who is doing the killing. Will they figure out who the killer is in time?
This was a great, very clean read. I will definitely read more books from Nancy Hogue. -
Loved this book. Talks about places in and near Macon, GA.

I had trouble with Ms. Hogue's writing style, and the huge number of grammatical and/or typographical errors made it difficult for me to stick with the book. However, I was intrigued enough by the mystery itself to see where the story was going. There were sufficient twists and turns to keep me guessing. I did figure out who the bad guy was, but not his character's name within the story. Interestingly, about 3/4 of the way through I had the thought that the story was sounding like a Nancy Drew mystery, and on the next page JJ (the heroine) had started to call the police with a partial license plate on a vehicle when she stopped and thought " Who do I think I am? Nancy Drew?" I couldn't help but laugh.
I was intrigued enough to purchase the second book - His Sins Exposed. I want to see where Ms. Hogue's goes with her characters.
