Havens King (Havens Realm #4) Reviews
-
Haven’s King is the fourth installment of the Haven’s Realm series. Jason, an ancient Greek vampire, falls in love with beautiful police officer, Mirissa at first sight and decides he must have her. To win her he cannot use his vampire influence and his affections can place them both in great danger.
One of the things I liked about this book was that it had such a colorful list of characters: vampires, gods, angels and dragons. I felt strongly for Jason’s character. He is an ancient who has been through so much love and loss, but remains a very strong force. Another character that I was really drawn to was Vincent, a vampire who swears his loyalty to Mirissa in Jason’s absence. It is implied, to me anyway, that he has had a hard existence and there is a certain sadness to him. I am really curious to read more about him and I look forward to his book.
This exciting story takes place in modern times, but is blended with Greek mythology. I really like the way these two elements blended together seamlessly. The author makes sure there is more than enough action and romance to keep the reader entertained. This book stood pretty well on its own, but being the third book in the series, I felt like I was missing some information and regretted that I hadn’t had the opportunity to read the first two books.
Monteau has created a series that will appeal to fans of the paranormal genre. It is well written with marvelous storylines. Another thing that I really find appealing is that Monteau’s writing style really makes for a fun and easy read.

I'm a book geek. And a word nerd. And luckily Ms. Monteau is able to give me all I need and want in a good book.
You've been reading my reviews of the Haven's Realm series, you know I'm in love with the story line and the strength of character for all of her books.
Haven's King has not been a disappointment. Granted, it did take me all of 72 hours to read this book (my normal is 48) but I will tell you that it's only because I've been doped up from surgery.
My love for Jason and Miri is strong and heart-felt. I was so surprised and delighted in how their love/romance formed. It was as beautiful as watching a rose bloom. Each hour, each day, each week was beautiful in its own way bring us in to take a picture with our mind's eye on how complex yet simple true love could be.
I know, I ply you with pretty words, but it's true. Miri is damaged (aren't we all) but Jason takes great care with her as if she was that very rose we watch bloom. He doesn't know the pain or damage that has been done, but he doesn't care. He knows when her time is right that he will be able to be trusted enough in her heart for all secrets to unfold.
Jason is a King, a man used to getting what he wants when he wants it. But when he wants Miri someone comes forth with a vengeance. Even knowing that the vengeance is there Miri knows that the love of her man is worth fighting for and giving even if he is scared to take.
If you love a great love story, and a mastery of words, take no more time than necessary and get this book in your hands. -
I very much enjoyed this deeply textured story, especially its basis in Greek mythology and the way myth is woven into the here and now. The main characters, Jason (of Fleece fame) and Miri, a modern day police officer, are both damaged individuals, and the trials they face remind me of flowing lava-- relentless, heated, powerful. Their love is deep, however, and as you read, you sincerely hope it is the one force in the universe that can out maneuver their enemies. The cast of supporting characters is well fleshed out, and the types of beings include vampires, gods, goddesses, angels, dragons, and more. You'll love the world the author has created.

This is my first time reading Tamara Monteau and I am happy to say that even though I read this book out of order, it was a page turner. I instantly fell in love with all the characters. I only wish that there was a recap of the previous books in the series to help me get through the beginning.

Wow, this one had a great finish, setting the reader up for the next one without leaving you totally hanging. Again, Ms. Monteau has written an emotional ly charged story. Even though I have read the next one, I may read it again. I highly recommend this wonderful series.
