DR TALL, DARK….AND DANGEROUS? By author Lynne Marshall is a Mills & Boon Medical Romance series release for July 2012.
Nurse Practitioner Kasey McGowan had just been told that her biological dad, whom she’d never met have died of Huntington’s decease. It was a huge shock to realize that she needed to have herself tested as she could’ve inherited the gene. She kept herself busy at her clinic. Then in walked tall, dark and gorgeous Doctor Jared Finch. Sparks flew. The attraction was off the scales between them. And Kasey used the attraction between them to forget about the results of her test.
But Jared had his own entanglements. He was just looking for a bit of light fun. But how long could he satisfy himself with just exploring the attraction between Kasey and himself. He couldn’t deny that he wanted to protect Kasey. Could he do the commitment? And would Kasey agree to an uncertain future with him? What about Jared’s two children? And now that Kasey knew that she is likely to pass the genes to next generation, would she agree to marriage and children?
DR TALL, DARK…AND DANGEROUS? Has a unique mixture of emotional and sexual tension. It will enthrall readers as well as the tight plotting and master storytelling will captivate them. Author Lynne Marshall can be relied on to deliver an emotionally, compelling story that keeps readers engrossed from the first page. -
Kasey McGowan is a lovely, hugely competent NP (Nurse Practitioner) and head of a community clinic in a low-income Boston community. She's also just found out bad news about her impregnate-and-leave-'em father. He's dead. Of Huntington's disease, a progressive, degenerative neurological condition that is passed down - 50% of the time - to offspring of a carrier parent.
Surgeon Jared Finch is working on getting his credentials in plastic surgery, and assigned to be "on call" at Kasey's clinic. His initial impulse is to cram the required volunteer hours in as fast as possible, so he can move on to making money he desperately leaves, after a bitter divorce and expensive boarding schools for his kids in the Boston area has cleaned him out.
Really liked that these are both adults, that they decide to go for a fling (with condoms, thank you!) and it develops into something a whole lot deeper. It was refreshing that Kasey actually shared her potential diagnosis and worry about the same with Jared from the very beginning, instead of holding it back as some authors might have done, for a Big Reveal at the end.
The writing is a little mechanical in parts, cliche-ridden, "Dr. Tall, Dark and Gorgeous," the steadfast gay best friend, for example. On the other hand, the shifts of POV - from Kasey's to Jared's, or vice-versa - are among both the smoothest and the clearest I've ever read. And I was really hanging on at the end to find out if Kasey did have Huntington's, and hoping/praying either she didn't, or they'd find a way for a HEA (Happily Ever After) after all. Spoiler: they do. -
Short & sweet. Could've been a good book but was so short it was like reading a "teaser". Should've drawn it out a bit, been more involved.... The potential to be good was there.

Love it from the start to the end. Sweet story with nice humor and lovely love story. Male and female leads are really likable and the story is really touching.
