good The year isand Jude and Lyyndy, with their adult daughter, Rebecca, are summoned to faroff, exotic Honolulu where Rebecca, a flyer like her father, meets a likeable young pilot.
The two enjoy a friendship that seems to be turning into something more serious, . until Sunday, December, dawns on the Hawaiian Islands,

This book can't make up its mind what it wants to be, One minute it seems proAmish, the next antiAmish, It goes back and forth through the whole book like that with little bit of everything thrown in, I have seen the trend this book seems to take more and more in Christian fiction latelywe all serve the same God or Jesus, just in different ways.
That may sound good, but it's totally against what the Bible teaches, It also leads to confusion of which there's a LOT of in this book when it comes to anything to do with God, and God is not the author of confusion.

I had a hard time liking Becky, the heroine, She's very impulsive, immature and highly selfish a good portion of the time, Unfortunately, I can't really give examples or I'll spoil the book,

Overall, even though this book is listed as "Christian Fiction" and God and the bible are mentioned fairly often, it doesn't feel very christian.
Couples are making out all the time, staying out tilin the morning at times this is in the's and very early's and yet the parentssupposedly christian parentsare totally fine with it!, worldly music, dancing boogie woogie, having the boyfriend carry you into the water to get wet and cool so you have an "excuse" for him to hold and cuddle you at night alone on the beach til all hours, rotten attitude to anyone who doesn't agree with you.
. the list goes on and on, I was highly disappointed in this book and would not be able to recommend it to anyone,

I was given a free digital copy to read and review by Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley, com. All thoughts and opinions are my own, Becky Whetstone is the perfect offspring, She loves to fly just like her parents, But would she give it all up to become the Amish wife of a good man Well, both of her parents were raised Amish so the culture is nothing new to Becky.
In fact, she embraces it, But when a series of events cause her to rethink her life, will she be forced to do something she doesn't want to do or will she take on the new challenge and see where it leads

When I first started this book and I guess up until halfway through it, I was thinking the author really did not want to deal with relationships in this book.
Instead he wanted to lean more toward the historical content, Becky seemed to fall forvery different men very quickly, I found myself going "wow, that was quick" on both occasions, But as you continue to read you understand that the relationships are as pivotal to the story line as the historical content of Pearl Harbor.

I enjoy all of Mr, Pura's books and this one was no exception, I loved revisiting Jude and Lyyndaya and seeing how they have grown along with their family.
This book tells the story of how friends, families, co workers and just civilians in general dealt with the bombing of Pearl Harbor from a fictional standpoint.
It, like all of Mr, Pura's books is well researched and well written, I cannot wait to read the next book and highly recommend this one, romantic and moving Murray Pura in his new book, “Whispers of a New Dawn” Book Three in the Snapshots in History series published by Harvest House Publishers takes us into the life of Becky Whetstone

From the Back Cover: Whenever the sun sets in one part of the your world, it always rises again in another.

The year is, Pilots Jude and Lyyndy Whetstone arrive with their adult daughter, Becky, back in their Amish community in Lancaster County, Its time to consider giving up flying forever and finally settle down among their relatives, It seems God is leading that way, especially when Becky finds romance with young Moses Yoder and decides to abandon the skies for the life of an Amish wife.

A summons to exotic Honolulu changes everything, Jude has been asked to train fighter pilots for the new Army Air Forces, If they go, they will not be allowed to return, But the call to serve the country they love prevails,

so the family departs amidst tears at what theyre leaving behind and fears at what awaits them.

Once settled on the beautiful island of Oahu, Becky is also hired on as a flight instructor and takes an immediate dislike to her newest studentthe brash Christian Raven.
Their turbulent road to love comes to a crashing halt with the horrific bombing of Pearl Harbor on December,, As Christian joins in the fight that will become World War II, Becky wonders of God would be so cruel as to snatch love from her life a second time.

I love history and “Whispers of a New Dawn” is loaded with it without it becoming a school history textbook, Mr. Pura looks at the beginning of World War II from the American point of view by leading into the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Both Raven and Becky have their issues to deal with before they can really commit to each other and it is fun to watch them deal with them together.
Though, ultimately, it is up to God to really heal them both, especially Becky, as she has to deal with her issue toward Him.
“Whispers of a New Dawn” is an adventure story filled with detailed battle scenes that will make you feel that you are there witnessing the event.
It is also a thriller as both Raven and Beckys lives are in danger during the course of the war, ”Whispers of a New Dawn” is also a romance that is all about relationships and that is what makes this book a winner.
I enjoyed this book a lot and am looking forward to more by Mr, Pura.

Oh, I liked it very much as I expected, Murray Pura is a good writer, spinning a story in a pleasant path, The story gives the reader very much to think about,

The Whetstone family has grown up since Lyyndaya and Jude followed their love of flying and country in Wings of Morning.

The story addresses the issues of humankind in spirituality and conviction as the Whetstones, Lyyndaya, Jude and their grown children, Nate and Rebecca, along with Lyyndaya's sister Ruth examine their Amish heritage and firm the foundations of their personal faith within the confines of their ethics and convictions.

Author Murray Pura approaches the Amish culture with a compassionate but realistic eye, As the times bring accidental death, war with intentional death, new loves, response for justice across the world swirling around the Whetstone family's aptitude for flying and their Amish families and friends' convictions around nonviolence, we see believable characters work out the days leading up to Pearl Harbor and shortly after.

Who will be together when the story closes Who will survive air battles and torture through the anxiety ridden days leading up to the American commitment to the Pacific theater of war Who will be moved spiritually to choose the Amish way of life and who will be moved to choose to leave their roots and live away from the Amish ways Who will have an unusual spiritual maturity to be able to see both sides, yet choose the path which is right for them without judgment of those who choose differently Each of these questions has an an answer that you will find when you read a rich story where we can 'view' the lush farmlands of Pennsylvania, the exotic climes of the Caribbean and Hawaii.
We share the shores and the music, the food and the dancing along with the rich creativity expressed in food and craft, Think of silk think of wearing black silk or white silk, We just don't get enough silk in our lives any more,

This is a solid story that includes the elements of adventure and romance while addressing the horrors of war, the pain of loved ones lost to death and others lost to a difference in belief.
Harvest House does a superb job of editing so readers can enjoy the flow of the story without distraction,

I was given a copy of this book by Harvest House, I am not obligated to review it, but I am because I want you to have an opportunity to enjoy an inspiring, pleasant read.
Whispers of a New Dawn was read and enjoyed by two people in our home, We then had some intense conversations regarding our own beliefs and convictions, I hope you will be stirred to think about your own spiritual condition and will bloom gloriously,
