really enjoyed the introduction to Smell of Resin, it was intriguing and got me hooked right away, but what started out with such promise, failed to deliver.
This novel would have benefited from a decent editor, All the elements of what could have been a good story were there, although the paranormal element in the story just didn't seem to jell.
The dialogue was not convincing, most notably in Lou Ann's monologue towards the end of the story.
. .year olds simply do not relate stories like that , nor do they use the sort of vocabulary used in the story.
I also found a lot of the elements the rag dolls, the constant reference to the diamond shaped cloud to name two and some of the other events in the story, Mrs Whitman's accident for example, which I realise where in there to help us learn about Todd's abilities, distracted from the tale rather than helped to move the story along.
