This is a reunion romance where the two people married young and while they were doing their demanding medical residencies. Lack of communication, exhaustion and stress and Emily finally walked away.
Nearly eight years later and they are now colleagues. But Emily has her step-son Jamie to consider. There is no way she can allow him to be dragged into the continual fight her first marriage had become.
This is about two people who loved each other but allowed external factors to drag them apart. Emily can’t bring herself to trust David and her concern for Jamie makes a good excuse to push him away.
I liked that for both of them, there was no-one else they wanted to have a romantic relationship with while they were apart.
At times Emily seemed a little over cautious, but the ending was satisfying.
