This is a really well written western. 144 pages long, no padding. The characters and action are handled very well. The main character, Brooks Cameron, a man wrongfully accused, stays instead of running and tries to make things right. Set in Texas when the bottom is falling out of the cattle industry, and the buffalo are no more, and the traveling skinners are slaughtering the feral cattle for their hides. Brooks is a cattleman returning from a cattle drive, when the ranch boss gets murdered and the killer takes his money belt with all the men's pay.
