Sweet Suspects (Donut Shop Mystery, #12) Reviews

This installment of the donut mysteries was lacking for me. I love a full-book Suzanne-and-Grace team up, but there was no spark in their best friendship. They kind of just stumbled around town asking people questions and following clues. It was a little lackluster for me. I read the entire book but never really shed the feeling of waiting for it to start.
Oh, and I have to mention the sheer annoyance of reading about a long string of numbers being found on a ripped piece of paper, but the character who saw the piece of paper has a weird ability to remember numbers. The next page - after spending a lot of words talking about this - when the character finally reveals this long string of numbers she amazingly memorized, it's four digits.
I had to mention this and totally make fun because I almost fell out of my chair laughing. -
I thought, from the first chapters, that this book will score one star, just like the first book in the series. It was pretty bad though. Reading so many similar books quickly is not helping or inspiring me, but I want to get an overdose of cozy mysteries before I move on. The crime in this story was idiotically solved. I mean the heroine went about her business by ignoring the elephant in the room... at no point did she or anyone point out that the murderer was more likely to be a man. But NO! These nincompoops had to blindly follow every lead when they could have narrowed their suspicions. I'm running out of put downs for this series. Let me try one more. Total arrant nonsense.

Great read and great series. I love the characters and the plot. I sure did not see the the way it ended.

im sorry, i didnt like this book, very disappointed. these 2 woman really are too much. they really think they are INVESTIGATORS !!!! the nerve of them going to peoples houses early in the morning and their attitudes towards everybody. in all her other books , they were careful how they asked about a murder investigation. i also think its time to get rid of JAKE, hes never around. they need to brake up or kill him off. that is not a relationship at all !! i have always loved Jessica Becks books, but I've had enough !

Sweet suspects by Jessica Beck is book 12 in the Donut Mysteries series. Suzanne and Grace investigate the murder of one of their classmates at their high school reunion. An interesting nice cozy mystery. It was quick to read and stayed focused on the mystery throughout. Some delicious sounding recipes are included.

Well, I just can't imagine having someone be a black mailer around me! I have to admit that he really deserved what he got, though. It's a dangerous field to be in and you always have to watch your back!
Suzanne seemed much more hardass in this one and grilled everyone quite a bit more than usual. I am not liking where that goes. I hope she gets back to "normal" in the next one. The author seems to have given her some of her Classic Diner Mystery character to Suz.
Enjoy! -
Always great to read another book in this series. Always great to try and solve the mystery.

I often wonder why I continue to read this series. I used to enjoy reading the Donut Mysteries but the last couple of books have tried my patient. Grace and Suzanne act like they're the law and order in the town, bullying and threatening people to tell them what they want to know. They've become unlikeable and I've reached the point that I don't really care anymore. Jake seems to be thrown in as an afterthought, although romance in a cozy isn't why I read them. It almost seems like the author doesn't care about the characters or the story anymore. Time to retire this series.

I have loved all the donut shop books! However, lately they have been pretty lack luster. Suzanne seems to be angry and condescending a lot. I feel the characters are not what they use to be and the writing is not as interesting as the first books in the series. There doesn't seem to be any character development. I am disappointed and probably will not continue to read these books. I'll miss you, April Springs.

2014-01-14. Very enjoyable. I liked the plot line being around their high school reunion. I especially liked that Suzanne wasn't as hard in this one. She's realized that her investigative techniques could drive a wedge between her and others in town. Being more aware of how she approached people did not harm her investigation at all. Elimination of suspects was good.

I really like this series. Suzanne and Grace are at it again solving a murder of a high school classmate. This person wasn't very nice, so plenty if people wanted him dead. I didn't figure out who done it until the very end which is good cause I hate when the author lets you know early. I usually don't finish those. Another good thing no craving for donuts from this one. LOL

Donut shop owner Suzanne and her sidekick Grace are confronted with the murder of a classmate at their high school reunion. They have to investigate because Grace is one of the potential suspects--along with, it seems, half the entire class.

This was a pretty good read. I like that she's reduced the amount of pages, however, this one lacked a little in the details.

Fun book.

I love this series. These books are enjoyable for so many reasons. The characters are great, the mystery is always fun, and the recipes are to die for. I can't wait to move onto Book 13.
