The mafia threatens Ewon into working for a loan shark, where he's forced to run dangerous errands for no pay. The culprit who doomed Ewon to this life is none other than Jiho, Ewon's jealous ex who still burns at Ewon's infidelity. Their gang leader Mookyul, with movie-star good looks and the bizarre, drunken habit of biting people on the neck, takes a keen interest in his attractive new errand boy. Will Ewon be able to survive the violent underworld (not to mention the constant sexual harassment) he must endure as an underling of Mookyul? This funny, hip title by Hajin Yoo will thrill and amuse fans with plenty of intense shonen-ai action.

First volume: This is rather silly. But it makes me laugh so much.

Second volume: Ehhhh... that's work harassment. Sue him, now!

Third volume: That sounds absurdly crazy. Why the hell I'm still reading this?

Fourth volume: Cute. Still obsessive/destructive love. But cute.

Fifth volume: Awwwwww. I can't believe this is so pretty *hearts as eyes*.

    Sixth volume: I'm totally captivated.

I first read this manhwa years ago when I was at high school. I totally fell in love with it back then. Reading it again after more than 10 years, while a little silly, it's still very enjoyable, fun and one of the best.

  • MaDoReader

When I first read this series, I fell in love with it. Now however... Let's start with a few problems with yaoi in general shall we?

1- rape is almost always portrayed in a romantic way.

    2- abusive relationships are "sexy"

3- possessive lovers are also "sexy"

If Ewon had been a girl, people would have a HUGE problem with this series, and unfortunately; I fall into the latter. It's sexist. The idea that it's okay for men to abuse their same sex partner is disturbing on so many levels.

However, as shounen-ai goes, this is one of the best and somewhat realistic of the genre. Somewhat realistic. It's still an abusive relationship. But I'm still giving it a 3 because it's one of my first series.

    4 fluttering hearts.
This is a review for the entire series, Book 1 to 6

I felt sad for it to end. Gosh, how I wish for more of Ewon and Mookyul. It's real fun watching their bickering. So cute. Hehe. I think they are well suited to each other. Ewon is like a soothing balm to Mookyul's short fuse nature. Both of them had a harsh childhood. I am so glad they found each other and filled the void in their hearts with their undying love for one another.

At first the art didn't appeal to me. I actually read this manga a couple of years back. If not mistaken I stopped at Book 3 or so. Maybe too many distraction back then? I am not too sure why I didn't finish the story. I am certainly glad I picked it up again. I would say the strong storyline makes up for the weak artwork.

Yea I am totally-captivated by this story. Mookyul's obsession and possessiveness towards Ewon was really endearing. I know those are not healthy traits in a lover yet I couldn't help but to enjoy the attention Mookyul bathed Ewon with. Makes my heart flutters. I guess this is what every girl wants in their romance.

The story makes me wish there are Asian TV dramas with such a premise featuring gay couples. Perhaps this would no longer be a dream in like a--- couple of more years down the road? I seem to find many more of those around me especially friends that are more open-minded to same sex relationships these days. Could be the advancement of technology has helped to broaden many minds. Exposure is knowledge, knowledge is power.

Mookyul loves to bite--alot! I think he has serious fetish for ears. He can't get enough of nibbling, biting and licking Ewon's ears. How the poor boy suffers. Lol. But I think this is sexy and erotic.

Mookyul is the black haired one and Ewon is that sassy blond.

I got this one because of the gorgeous cover art and I have a weakness for mob related yaoi. Since this is pretty popular, there are a ton of stories to choose from. Totally Captivated deals with Ewon, a young twink that gets hijacked into the mob by his ex-boyfriend. Ewon then deals with the daily struggles of being the low man on the mob totem pole while his ex-bf is sleeping with the mob boss; a boss who of course wants Ewon’s ass.

Ewon is a super cute character and the artwork often reflects this. He initially cheats on his boyfriend (soon to be ex- Jiho) because Ewon is a friendly guy that shares his love around. He learns perhaps that’s not the best choice of action. Ewon is cute, funny, and contradictory. He’ll say one thing and do something totally else. Jiho and the mob boss Mookyul are more difficult to get a handle on. Since Ewon is pretty clueless and the story is told from his perspective, the two characters are mostly seen as larger than life.

The artwork is decent but what mostly killed my enjoyment is I couldn’t follow the plot very easily. It seemed to jump around and never made a lot of sense. I usually have an easier time following yaoi stories but this one never came together in a cohesive narrative for me. Plus I never really understood why they were always slapping the crap out of Ewon. He always takes it pretty well but he seemed to get hit (and hit on) every other page.

I’m curious to read more but not sure I’ll enjoy this particular series. It’s easy to read and lightening fast with ok artwork. Ewon is pretty adorable and can carry the story, even considering the problems I had so if this might work for someone else.

This book was making me laugh. This is a story about Ewon he is not very faithful to his boyfriend Jiho. Jiho starts dating another guy who is the boss of a mafia group. His name is Mookyul. Mookyul makes Ewon work for him since he thinks Ewon keeps stalking Jiho. When in reality Ewon had just been trying to apologize to Jiho and get back with him.

The attics being of course the boss is always pushing Ewon around and making him do things like try to collect money. He tells Ewon if he doesn't collect he will kill him. Of course each time Ewon comes back without the money the boss will tell him start preparing your grave, get the casket ready. But of course he never really does try to kill Ewon.

In another chapter Ewon accidentally breaks a vase and goes into hiding while he is gone the office goes to ruin since he is the errand boy and does everything.

There is more going on between all of the characters and it is a fun read. I really have to dig up volume 2 and read the next volume.

I had read this manga a long time ago, and it "captivated" me. Now that I read it a second time, despite having forgotten the plot, I know why this one is among the favorites, but there are things I didn't previously mind that now I do.

First of all, I have to admit "Totally Captivated" is different from almost all yaoi mangas. The artist manages to express a lot of emotions through the eyes, the characters are smoking hot and she can draw funny moments as well as depressing scenes. Also, Mookyul and Ewon don't jump into bed at the first opportunity. Far from that.

However, what I don't like is Mookyul's personality. He thinks he's the king of the world and everybody has to do what he wants. I know he actually is the boss, but sometimes he acts like a spoiled brat. He reminds me of a boy from a shojo manga. But, like I said, it's hard to find a good manga, different and refreshing, so I'll keep going.

    I'm so disappointed!

I really wanted to love this series. I'm a real sucker for stories about situations that characters have to work their way out of, especially when the situation is complicated by romance.

But the story here is so paper thin it isn't even worth getting invested in! More than that, the characters are downright unlikable. A cheater? A character who uses physical intimidation? A weak plot device character who has ZERO personality? I'm supposed to like these characters?

On top of that the art is average at best and the romance is ...decidedly not romantic. Those scenes that are supposed to be romantic hold no excitment or interest.

Overall this manga just isn't good. At all.

  • Jamie

I enjoyed this. It cracked me up at times. Mookyul as really good looking, young mafia boss. Jiho is his current lover, very feminine looking and Ewon's former lover. Ewon, out of guilt for how he treated Jiho and his need for a job gets caught up as an errand boy/housekeeper type of assistant. This books just gives us a start into the characters. I like what I see so far but I do feel it was just a teaser, a scratch on the surface. SO I hope it delves deeper into the story. Only 3 chapters!! And Chapter 2 was over half the volume! What is up with that?! It should have been divided better. I liked the character drawings. Their expressions are priceless!

  • Derekica Snake

Okay, what can I say about this series. How about, holy moly! I have the entire series and yes it took a great white shark bite out of my wallet but it is worth. I read the series, all six books, at least once a month which for me is is pretty darn special.

Now for Vol 1. Mookyul is a hunk of bad boy who is going out with Jiho ex-boyfriend of Ewon, hunk of a student who can't be faithful. Truth be told, in this book Jiho and Ewon are both annoying but Ewon has some moments of character credibility that carry on in later volumes.

    My recommendation: Buy it.

This is the last manga I have read so far and its aftertaste is so good that I am a bit afraid to spoil it with anything else (although I know there are a lot of very good mangas out there).

Where should I start...mmm... the plot is amazing, the art is beautiful and there are moments so hilarious that I could not help but LOL no matter where I was at the moment.

I love everything about this manga, I guess from the long ones it should be in my top 3 along with Viewfinder and Haru wo daite ita.

If you are a yaoi fan and have not read it... Go!

  • Heather C

Yay! I read my first...whatever you call this...

Anyway, I really liked it. I was a little confused at the begging and following some of the scene shifts, but the plot was easy to follow.

Ewon was really cute and funny. I found myself laughing a lot. Mookyul was mostly an asshole and I wanted to "THWACK" him in the head many times!! But he was so funny at the end with all the biting and bloody hickeys!!

I want to read the rest of this series ASAP!!

  • Nyie Rombeng

I only captivated on artwork, not another!
although ended with HEA,i still don't like this storyline.i don't know why.
BTW,i feels charmed with jiho character.ewon & mookyul, maybe.but, less of mytaste although both of them is main character.

I appreciate when fucked-up yaoi recognizes that it's fucked-up and that the characters recognize it's fucked-up.

I adore this manga to death.

  • Elaine White

This was a strange, but funny, compelling story. The title says it all. Although I wasn't initially sure how it would go, I ended up totally captivated and eager to read more.
Slight slap-stick humour, with a mafia base and a reluctant budding romance. There is lots of cheating and non-serious flings within the story, so if that bothers you, you might want to skip it. I'm intrigued by who Ewon looks like, and what that person means to the Boss. I utterly LOVE Ewon's relationship with the mafia men, and how he's basically their cook, runner, cleaner, and babysitter! It was so stupidly adorable I had no choice but to fall in love with it.

  • Karen Elisabet

I re-read this series last week and omg I'm in love again. I didn't know I missed these characters so much 💜

  • Cookie

Quite generic, a bit childish, no set plot... It was okay but seems overhyped.

  • Rebecca

    3.5/5

A lot more lighthearted than I anticipated but still very enjoyable. I'm eager to see where this goes.

Review for the whole series with slight spoilers!

    Review:

I haven’t read or even encountered many boys’ love manhwa, but if they’re all like this then sign me up!

I liked a bunch of aspects in this series: the way the relationship develops – there is an actual background/explanation to the feelings surfacing and even then the romance is not only about sex; the artwork is pleasant for the eyes and based on other manhwa I’ve read, in general, heaps better than the average; the characters are drawn perfectly; even tough it’s more or less yaoi it’s not graphic to an extreme degree, steamy scenes are quite scares actually, and it works; the humor is brilliant, there are some golden scenes that had me rolling on the floor laughing; the romance is adorable – you can’t help but squeal and fangirl like crazy, it’s incredibly easy to root for the main couple; and so on and on.

Yes, it does use some typical and cliché plot devices and it doesn’t really have any rock solid plot but the ups and downs of Ewon and Mookyul’s blossoming romance make up for what the manhwa may lack, and in truth it doesn’t lack much at all.

    Characters:

I don’t know if it is humanly possible to express how much I absolutely totally utterly adore the spunky uke hero of this series? Ewon is just too awesome and I can’t ever imagine someone not loving him to bits. It doesn’t help that the art captures him perfectly and visualizes him as this boyish, pretty, clueless cutie. But let’s count together all the main reasons he rules:

    1) Smart - he goes to university and studies like mad, he takes his education incredibly seriously and he succeeds.

    2) Hardworking – come on, the guy basically runs Mookyul’s whole office, not business wise of course, but the whole place would crumble when he’d leave (and it did). And despite being blackmailed, manipulated and threatened for being the errand boy, he excels and gives 110%. Not to mention he used to have several part times jobs next to acing his exams.

    3) Naive and simpleminded – a good uke needs to have a sprinkle of naivety, and Ewon has more than that.

    4) A fighter – next to his struggles in life, he also puts up a fight with Mookyul whenever possible. I liked that about him, he won’t give up easily and doesn’t take anything lying down.

    5) Friendly, easygoing and likable – even in the manhwa, except the creepy old dude, who doesn’t find him huggable? Ok, there are more such freaks but they don’t deserve a mention.

    6) Human – his reason for cheating on Jiho is hilariously simple and his hesitation and doubt regarding his relationship with Mookyul is heartbreaking.

    7) ADORABLE!!! This needs no explanation.

Ewon is the ultimate uke hero - funny, cute and totally captivating!

Mookyul – even though there are a multitude of reasons why he isn’t anywhere near being a good romantic interest – moody, violent, stalkerish, arrogant, controlling, childish, .... and the list goes on – nevertheless, I found him hot, misunderstood and the perfect match for Ewon to straighten out. Mookyul has a lot of baggage and some difficult choices to make but he comes through when needed and despite all his faults he really does love Ewon and cares for his merry bunch of a gang. He’s a vulnerable egocentric brat but his devotion to Ewon is admirable and heartbreaking.

I loved the jilted ex lover Jiho. He was a doll faced pretty boy with a mean streak, he was downright nasty at times, but his scenes never failed to make me laugh. The way he daunts and makes fun of Ewon and his relationship with Mookyul is epic. I would pay to see glimpses of Jiho and Ewon when they were a couple, I sense some laugh out loud awesomeness there.

The villain in this story was despicable and quite disgusting, but I couldn’t really figure him out till the end, some choices he made I didn’t really grasp. An honorable mention goes to Mookyul’s gang of misfits, they were fun, supportive and absolutely useless without Ewon around in simple everyday matters. I loved how they viewed the relationship between Ewon and Mookyul.

    Overall:

A more than great boys’ love manhwa with the most lovable hero I’ve encountered in a long time or ever. If this is your genre then it’s obligatory to check out this series!

I was very entertained - dare I say totally captivated (snicker) - by this series! The relationship between Ewon and Mookyul develops nicely from beginning to end of the series. Both are flawed characters, and handled very well. The secondary characters and situations fill in the story without detracting from it. A good read. This review repeats for the whole series. :D

One the best BL , and it's also my favorite.. I've read the whole volumes of this manga even the side story Totally Peeking. Honestly I've read Totally Captivated for 45 times already.. and until now I still dig Mookyul Eun and Ewon Jung's love story..

  • DeeNeez

This is an amazing series. The artwork is detailed and expressive, the plot is humorous and complex. And Mookyul is sexy hot! Series starts off as a slow burn, by the time Ewon and Mookyul come together, it’s explosive.
