I liked this book. It was okay. But….the timeline glossed over some real important parts in my opinion. And, I don’t really understand what happened at the end. It was like everything that was built up over the course of two years was suddenly not good enough? The consistency wasn’t there for me and that is a huge deal in my rating of a book. If it doesn’t fit, I don’t believe it. If I don’t believe it, I loose interest…fast.

And I just didn’t buy it with this book. Sure the emotions they were feeling were there but it seemed to always go back to more of the same. I hate repetitiveness. It sucks the like right out of the book. Claire was very skittish in the beginning then all of the sudden she was fine. She had abandonment issues which, is to be expected. However, it kept coming back to that and I was like, “Come on, haven’t we dealt with this already? Put up with it or shut up about it.” There was nothing to look forward to for me in their relationship. No growth, nothing but more of the same.

Sorry, I will not be reading the next one. I needed more.

Like myself, a lot of you have probably already read the Shattered Heart series. And you probably felt the same way as I did. It was such an amazing series. It was perfect. But now that I’ve read Forever Ours…. Wow. This takes this series to a whole new level.

You learn so much more about their story and come to appreciate the characters and sacrifices they made so much more. For the people who have not read this series, I cannot speak highly enough about it.

In Forever Ours, the author takes you on a journey through the lives of two young people. A story of love, sadness, and sacrifices. It is so beautifully written. You will become more connected to the characters with each page you read. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. You’ll become part of the story. The characters will become real to you. And it will leave you wanting more. And that, for me, is when you know you are reading something amazing.

Such a beautiful story, which I highly recommend.

The Shattered Hearts series (Relentless, Pieces of You and Bring Me Home) are one of my favourite series, I thoroughly enjoyed all three books. But now having read the prequel to this series ‘Forever Ours” I have a whole new appreciation for these books and it has made me want to read them all over again. (By the way, highly recommend that you read this first before the others if you haven’t read them yet.)

In Forever Ours, we are taken right back to the beginning, when young Claire arrives at the home of Jackie and Chris Knight. We witness their first meeting and then over time watch as they grow closer together and more deeply in love. In Forever Ours, we learnt so much more about these two beautiful people, their hopes, their dreams, their pains and their fears. I laughed and cried reading this book, enjoying their highs, and feeling their lows. I thoroughly enjoyed going back to the beginning in Forever Ours and taking this journey with Chris and Claire at the time when they first discovered each other. Beautifully written as always.

I really love Cassia’s writing style. It’s got such an easy flow about it. I enjoyed Black Box so much that I wanted to read more by her. This was a great first book to this series that I’ve also had on my kindle for-everrrrr! And I’m rather enjoying discovering these old gems for the first time even though I’m kicking myself for waiting so long.

Also, I love rockstar romances. And just like Black Box, this one is about a sexy musician as well. Hot damn, I love those talented broody guitarists. And Chris wasn’t any different.

Claire and Chris meet at 15 when she comes to live with him and his mom after being passed from foster home to foster home. She moves in with the Knights and forges a bond with Chris that forever changes both their lives. We follow them through high school, record deals and then college.

I enjoyed watching them grow together, love each other (though they’re young), they have a beautiful connection. But it’s not an easy road as Chris is on his way to stardom. Can their love survive across states? I guess we’ll see, as I didn’t like how it ended but I know there’s a lot more drama to come in the next 3 books.

Can’t wait to jump on the next book…

DNF! I've heard many good things about this author and this series so I started this earlier today and made it to about 30% before I gave up. It has absolutely no substance to it at all!! You're seriously just reading bits and pieces as it jumps around from scene to scene, there is nothing to allow a connection to the characters. However, I believe this may have been written after the full length novels were written as a bonus to pre-existing fans of the series, so I'm going to chalk it up as a FANS ONLY special novella and do something I never ever do and read out of order and skip this so called prequel, in hopes to discover all the good stuff I've heard about in Relentless! :)

This was such a sweet and enjoyable read. I know this is only the start of Chris and Claire's story so I don't mind that the book was short (page count for kindle edition is 197). Though I usually avoid short books, I wanted to start the series with the prequel. The flow of the story felt a bit hurried (like a novella) but again, I didn't mind since I considered it a brief glimpse into the MCs’ past. I devoured Leo's other series, The Story of Us and I loved the angst factor in those books. I'm getting the same feeling with this one and I can't wait to dive deeper into the story. I'm hooked on Leo's writing. She makes it easy to connect with her characters. I find myself nodding my head or smiling often at their thoughts and dialogue because they’re so on point. Just like the hero from the other series, Chris was adorable. He had a way with words. He was fabulously witty and romantic. It's been a while since I've read YA romance because it's just not my thing anymore. I read this only because it's part of the MCs’ past and the rest of the books should be about their (mid/late?) twenties. But reading Forever Ours reminded me why I used to love YA.

    Favorite Quote
“I want to invade the space all around you until everywhere you look all you see is me... I want to occupy the space inside you until you don’t know the difference between my heartbeat and yours. I want to be your everything.”

    Notes:
**The book began when Chris & Claire were 15 and ended when he turned 21.
    **No infidelity in this book.

<3<3 The author includes clickable links to music videos within the chapters. Personally, I love music in books. If I’m already enjoying a book, the music only heightens the feels.

I absolutely love Cassia's Shattered Hearts series. Like LOVE, LOVE it. I can't get enough of Chris and Claire. Forever Ours is the story of how Chris and Claire first met, when she came to live with them. Now, I know we learn about their history via flashbacks throughout Pieces of Me and Bring Me Home, BUT it's not the same as reading it firsthand here. I feel like we get more details and I got to feel that initial connection that they had with each other. Cassia allowed me to fall in love with them all over again and experience that feeling of young love right along with them. Seeing just how patient, thoughtful and attentive Chris is with Claire made me love him even more and, I was able to see just how hard it was for Claire to do what she had to do in order to push Chris to pursue his dreams. Despite knowing how the series ends, I was still a crying mess at the end of Forever Ours. Cassia is one of those authors, for me at least, who always manages to make me feel what her characters are feeling and feel what they're going through.

A great beginning to such an amazing series. I loved seeing how it all began with Chris & Claire and watching their story unfold. I'm always going to want more of the swoony Chris Knight! And now I highly look forward to release of Chasing Abby, more Chris & Claire and Abby!

I liked the initial premise for this book but the execution left a lot to be desired. The first person narration wasn't my favorite and both main characters drove me a bit nuts. I pretty much had to force myself to finish the story especially as it got clearer and clearer that this series is going to be set up to be a love triangle, one who got away sort of story. With the past that was set up for Claire, her reactions and how quickly she got over things with Chris didn't make any sense. Not to mention the fact that when they did have issues it seemed forced and formulaic instead of organically coming from the struggles of her past. The clingy jealousy from both characters was just plain annoying.

  • Tracy Reads

I listened to the audiobook of this one and I liked the story but the voice of Claire was all wrong it was fine when she was younger but as she got older it still irked me because she sounded like a child still and I could not take her seriously. The story is likeable and worthy of a read I personally did not love it I considered giving up half way but I did want to find out what happened so that made me continue, good story I think if the voice had of been better I would have liked it a little bit more.

10 FOREVER LOVE STARS!!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!

Do you remember your first love? The way your heart skips a beat for the very first time, or how you can't stop thinking about a person even though you just spoke to him seconds ago? That feeling of first love is how I can best describe my feelings for Forever Ours! I don't think I'll ever forget this amazing feeling and this amazing book for life! I laughed out loud, cried ugly and for the most part, had a huge goofy smile across my face because I'm just so happy to be reading it! :) And even so, my words can't even begin to do justice to how incredible this book is!!! I love each and every single book in Cassia's Shattered Hearts series and have been following the books since Relentless (book 1) was published early 2013. This is hands-down my favorite series which I keep re-reading over and over again because it's so damn good! Forever Ours is no exception and like every installment in the series, I keep saying it's the best but it tops my list once again! I fell in love with Claire and Chris all over again and once I'm done penning this review, I'm going to re-read the entire series again (yes, you read me right!) In this book, you'll be transported right to the beginning when Claire first meets Chris. It's a beautifully written prequel of Claire and Chris' journey from strangers, to friends, to lovers and leads us to where the story begins in Relentless. Their back story is essential to this series and makes you love and better understand these books and characters so much more! Whether you are new to the series, or if you are an existing fan like me, Forever Ours is NOT TO BE MISSED!!! Here are some of my favorite quotes/moments:

"Because I want to know everything about you."

There are moments in life that you know will be burned into your memory forever. Chris calls these "movie screen moments" - where everything slows down and you know that something important is about to happen that will change the course of the story.

He smiles as he reaches up and softly places his index finger on my lips. "I'd rather put my signature here."

"You want to lick my tongue?" I say out loud. "Isn't that the same as kissing?"
    "I guess we'll find out."

He rests his hand over my heart. "Forever mine."
I place my hand on his chest. "Forever ours."

"How about we skip the spooning and get straight to forking?"

p.s. This is a full-length novel. The story/content in this book is brand new and cannot be found in the other books in the series.

I liked that this book started as a sweet-innocent teenage love story, Claire and Chris's love story. Although I didn't buy their love since it felt like an insta-love, I can ignore it to keep reading it. They are young, free and don't care about the world, I think it kinda makes sense if they (think) fall in love since the first sight.

This sweet love story grows throughout the story. As they get older, I can see that they are really in love and thinking to have future together. They become more serious with their relationship which I liked because it also creates drama in the story.

However as a four-year relationship story, I think it is too short. There are things that I want to see more, dig deeper or even more description, feel like they are just pass by in a blink of an eye. It's too bad since I quite liked the way it's written. I hope I get more in the sequels.

    I LOVED THIS PREQUEL

Claire has been moved from different foster homes and at the age of 15 is taken in by a family. skinny, broken Claire has a tragic back story.

Chris is the son of the family that has taken Claire in, instant attraction despite Claire's appearance.

Chris and Claire become really close and become best friends to lovers.

A sweet romance and heartwarming but with Chris and his band on the verge of making it big time and Claire now in College will their relationship last with Chris's fame and girls throwing themselves at him.

The beginning of a really good rock-star romance and I can't wait to read the rest.

Told in duel pov's, brilliantly written with great characters.

This was a very sweet start to the series. I'm not quite sure how to review this book, since it's a novella. But I decided to read in order of the series, instead of in order published. While they fell in love very quickly, it didn't feel rushed or forced for some reason. This book just clicked and made sense. I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with the rest of the series, so I'm off to start now...

  • Tia

Filled in some gaps but still left some holes. I feel much better about Chris being the best choice for Claire now, but would have liked some more detail on the pregnancy and Chris searching for Claire. I wish I could have started the series with this book though.

Every time I read a YA book I forgot how creepy it is for me, as a parent/grandparent, to read and get a glimpse into this age group: high school/early college. That's pretty much sums it up for me with this audiobook. Also, I didn't care for the female narrator and the male narrator sounded much too old for his character. What was up with the ending? It was quite abrupt!! I don't think I will continue with this series, but am thankful that this book helped me with several of my reading challenges. Also, it helped me get through my 10+ walk today.

    Go Cards! L1C4!!

    Frustrating ending

This was a very good story. The pace was slow-ish but I still sucked up every word without wanting to skip paragraphs. The ending was something of a let down but I won’t go into detail. Suffice it to say that this is a 7 book series, so far, so that shoul tell you something. I am considering listening to the audiobook of Relentless (book 2) on Hoopla but I’m not ready to shell out lots of cash for the rest of the series...yet. If anyone knows how to get book 2 (ebook only) for free, please leave a comment.

Charlie and Claire story was sweet and innocent. It was great to see how they navigated there separate life. While she was in high school and he dropped out so he can peruse his music career.. It was good to see how they worked their relationship. I can't wait to continue with there story.

  • Jane

I really liked the dynamic between Chris and Claire, HOWEVER I immensely dislike the part that I have to read at least 4 or 5 books after finishing this one to find a HEA for them as they, naturally, have to break up at the end of this book. As I am curious, I briefly read the synopsises for the following books ... and I am out. No thank you to the love triangles from me.

    Kindle Freebie....
There was no flow to this story. It jumped around and skipped ahead and was kind of a hot mess. Claire lost her mother to a drug overdose when Claire was 7 (6? 7? 6? I am not even sure) and went through a large number of foster homes, jaded, aloof and alone. But all of that disappears when she is sent to live with Jackie and Chris. Seemingly the moment she moves in. She is accepted as part of the family and into Chris's group of friends like she was the missing piece needed to keep them all together. And then all of a sudden, BOOM, she and Chris are in love forever and always. Although we knew it was going to happen, there was no leading up to it. One chapter, she walks into the house looking like she is "looking at a murder scene", and the next, ok maybe two chapters later, they are declaring their deep love for each other. Whiplash, anyone?
And then there's Chris, the most well adjusted kid who was messed up by his father leaving. So much so that he tattooed on his arm the exact time of his father leaving. Because he remembers. But his mom more than makes up for his father's absence, and Chris wants for nothing, having numerous tattoos, buying a motorbike and a phone for Claire. Where did he get this bottomless bankroll of cash?
And heck, he gets to drop out of school to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. And his mom allowed this? The damaged foster street kid finishes school and goes to college and the boy with everything drops out.
But, of course, he makes it big... On his own? He was ok with changing the name of the band to reflect a solo career, and so were his friends/bandmates?
But the clincher... Claire and Chris are so deeply in love and devoted to each other that they... Break up? Because Claire is letting him go to pursue his dream? And didn't even want to give it a shot? Just automatically assumed Chris would be picking up every groupie he saw because he just couldn't help it. The boy waited over two years before Claire was ready to have sex, and his first week away from her he would be swimming in debauchery? And when he tried to get through to her, she shut him down, and then had the audacity to be upset when she saw evidence of him moving on.
And this is just book one. There are 7 in this series (really 5, as two are companions). What else could happen in four more books? There just isn't enough there. The character development was elementary at best, and I didn't find myself rooting for anyone.

Ok so to be honest here I wasn’t expecting much, I had read one of Cassia Leos books before and just well, hated it. So when I grabbed this one, I was going into it with a lot of trepidation, and I was almost looking for stuff I wouldn’t like, unfair?? Maybe, but I can’t help it.

But what I got was something great and something I truly enjoyed. A coming of age story about a broken girl that has had it bad for so long she hardly know what good is anymore. Now while I enjoyed this and read it in a couple of hours it did have its problems. I felt it as sort of glossed over in places, example Prom happened, but I have no idea what kind of dress Clair wore, I know what her date wore but not her, not that that’s important or anything, I mean it’s a dress but there was a lot of little things missing.

The big thing that bothered me and still bothers me hours later, even after a nights worth of sleep was Chris Mum. Now don’t get me wrong, she was a lovely lady, all be it absent!! Now she is meant to be a foster parent, they have all range of kids come into their house, ranging from toddlers to teens yet she works like 10 hour days??? How will that work?? I know I don’t live in the US but I can’t help but think, messed up kids there can’t be to different to messed up kids here. And I also know foster kids at any age need a bit more supervision than the 4 hours a day she was home and awake with them, Clair was well behaved, but a lot aren’t and if you give them that much freedom, you are in for a whole world of trouble!
Also my other issue with the mum was Chris, when we first meet him he is 15, then later on we learn he has 4 tattoos, one he got while drunk out of his mind, now I’m no prude, I love tats, I have them but where is this woman?? I have a 15 year old boy of my own and I sure as shit know where he is and what he is doing and it’s not drinking and getting tats either!!

Anyway moving on, aside from that rant I did enjoy this book, it takes place over about 4 years so there are big skips in time but it helpfully has the dates at the start of every chapter, I didn’t mind the skips this would have been one huge ass book without them.

So yeah read it, liked it, and bought the next one.

  • Jenn

Ok, this is my second Cassia Leo book and I will start off by saying it was much better than
    Anti-Romance.

Claire has been bounced around from foster home to foster home never really fitting in. Then she gets placed in the Knight house. Jackie Knight is unlike any other foster mom Claire has ever had - she's kind, patient, and caring. Then there's Jackie's son, Chris. He doesn't seem to want to use her and genuinely seems interested in getting to know her. And soon the two find themselves sneaking around and hiding their relationship from his mother until Claire is of legal age. Then Chris's music career takes off and they are left to question where can they go from here.

So I liked the characters in this one. Claire, Chris, Jackie - all were likeable and kept me reading. However, I had issues. Mainly, the time line. This book takes place over three years or so, that's a lot of ground to cover especially if the characters are just meeting for the first time at the beginning of the story. So when Chris meets Claire, I'm guessing it's instalove. Cause by the next chapter they both have feelings they are trying to hide. And that's fine and all, but what was missing was the journey. They meet, then they're in love. Where's the in between? We never got to see them fall in love, it was just there. Why was Chris drawn to her in the first place? What made her interesting? Why did she suddenly trust him? We got none of this.

I blame the time jumping. The author obviously had a certain place where she wanted this book to end and spent the whole time just trying to get there. So we jumped entire events - such as the falling in love aspect. It all felt extremely rushed to me and I just didn't buy it. Too many important parts missed that we weren't allowed the time to get to know them and care about them.

I have the next book in this series and I will read it. Hopefully the author slows things down a bit and doesn't try to just get to the end. The journey is the most important part of a character driven story and I felt that was missed here.

Could have been a 5 Star Story

Let me begin by stating this book is a prequel, and it is book number four in the Shattered Hearts series. I loved this series and experienced what I believe was an emotional transformation reading it. This fourth book solidifies the transformation that took place in my reading the other books. With that being said, I recommend that you do not read the rest of my review if you have not read the other books as their obviously would be a huge spoiler mentioned.

This is the beginning of Claire and Chris' story. We learn how the two come together, and the depth of their feelings for each other are revealed. I couldn't help but love Chris more with this story. I enjoyed everything about the first 80 percent of the book. It was fun to go back and get more of this couple. What threw me though was the ending. I kept reading as the months passed waiting for something about a missed period, mention of a swollen belly, anything to suggest that Claire was actually pregnant. I read a lot of books so at the end of this one I literally was scratching my head wondering---do I have the right series? She did give away their baby right?

This book would have been a 5+ star book had that information been addressed but I sit here feeling somewhat disappointed. Still love Cassia Leo and still a huge Chris fan and I am hoping we might get some more in an upcoming book.

FOREVER OURS (SHATTERED HEARTS .5) by CASSIA LEO

This book is a re-introduction to who Chris Knight is. Those who have read the rest of the Shattered Hearts series may at some point disliked Chris Knight and I think this book will help the reader (for example, me) get to know Chris Knight before all the pain started and the stardom. Also, we get to read the life Claire lived and how she found a home in Chris and his mom's house.

Shattered Hearts serie sis one of my faves and one of the best written series out there and this prequel is another beautiful story to add in the series. I like that it showed how it all started and how the character in Chris & Claire made sacrifices along the way. They were teens but the love they felt during those years is genuine and true. Decisions made gave way to how the future mapped out and there were pain, guilt and regrets but love still found its way to where it really belongs and the rest is history. Well, we are still waiting. I am still waiting for the rest of the story. This prequel is a must-read and you will sure love it.
