hated it! Had to read it for school, It made some good points though,
I found thest part where we learned about our brain interesting, From there the contents became pretty much common sense, I'd like to think anyway, I would have loved to see a broader body image view such as eating disorders as the book only really mentions obesity, Theweek plan was kinda shit, I just feel kind of unsatisfied, Professor Payne is actually a teacher at my college, but this doesn't influence my review at all,

This is honestly one of the best books that I have ever read, I love psychology, and have always found the brain incredibly interesting, I was a bit wary about reading this book, but when I started, I found I didn't want to stop, It was hard to make myself pause and take notes, when all I wanted to do was continue to read,
This is the only "textbook" that I have ever found that I actually WANT to read, and one that I have continued to read despite the class being over.

The knowledge in this book is immense, although you would never guess it just by looking, It's taught me numerous things about the brain, and contains facts that I've shared with family and friends and has changed their view of the brain and themselves, The visuals are incredibly helpful, and the humor throughout the book kept my attention and was helpful as well, I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, It's not only for college students, but upper high school students and adults, Any age would enjoy this book, I signed up to win this book via FirstReads, not realizing that it's tailored to young adults agesand under, I haven't read it yet, but hope to skim it soon to see if there are some tidbits of information that would be helpful for someone in the middle age bracket.

Addendum: I have since read this book, or at least the chapters not focusing on action steps for those under, Very easy to read and provided a lot of insight about how the brain works and things we can do to improve its function, I was selected to win a copy of this book from the Goodreads Contest, This was a very insightful and thoughtprovoking book! Not only did I learn WHY people behave the way they do because they are wired this way!, I also gained a deeper understanding of the intricacies of the human brain.
I have taken some Psychology courses in the past, but this was a great refresher, It brought all of the information together in a concise, easy to learn manner, The plan at the end of the book is great, too, which helps you to correct some of your own problems that you may be dealing with, Two thumbs up!.
I really liked this book it was very educational without being heavy, The content was really interesting, and the advice was applicable, You automatically start to analyse your brain and figure out the best ways to combat personal “brain issues” which I thought was awesome,
Generally very enlightening book, easy read and one that I wish I read earlier!

Side note: it was really awesome reading this book right after reading sitelinkThe Marshmallow Test: Mastering SelfControl because the information related and this book actually referenced Mischels experiment.
The crossover was cool because it helped better understand both books and it reiterated stuff I had already learned,
I think it might of change my life Reinformative, Have been taking the class, and I've enjoyed it greatly, Very informative Very good book about what different parts of the brain does, I'm overbut enjoyed the read, Would recommend. Good read! The book was enjoyable and worth reading if not to inspire internal thinking, It is truly basic things that often don't get much thought that will make the difference in one's thinking, I'd recommend this book to others! Great resource for parents, teens, and educators, Though it is a secular psychology/biology book, it is largely consistent with a Christian worldview, There are a couple of places in the drugs/alcohol section with "too much information, " I relate these to a child not being afraid of the dark until they read a story about how to stop being afraid of the dark, We don't need to give teens new ideas if they haven't thought of them yet, I found this book very informative and helpful, I think it should be required reading for all students and teachers, A good overview of brain functions, Unfortunately, nothing groundbreaking in terms of solutions for everyday challenges apart from destress, exercise and eat well, Could be useful for those with a more basic understanding of brain function, Amazing book that goes into details on how the brain works, and how it develops itself before, It's scary to see what people do beforethat can destroy their brains, You'll learn a lot on how to avoid stupid mistakes, and how to optimize your brain development, It should be mandatory in schools, The Key to Your Future is in Your Head
