بسیاری از ما در لحظههایی از زندگیمان دوست داریم از هرآنچه که مشغولش هستیم دست بکشیم و کاری سراسر متفاوت بکنیم. مثلا شهر زندگیمان را شغلمان و یا شریک زندگیمان را عوض کنیم یا سفر برویم و دنیا را ببینیم با آدمها حرف بزنیم و دوستان گذشتهمان را دوباره ملاقات کنیم. گاهی هم همه را با هم تا شاید بتوانیم از رخوت و یکنواختی که دچارش هستیم رهایی یابیم. یکنواختی که برای خیلی از انسانهای عصر ما با زنگ ساعت صبح شروع میشود و با تماشای تلویزیون در شب پایان مییابد. داستان آندرآس شخصیت اصلی کتاب روزی مثل امروز نیز این چنین است. او در روزی مانند همه روزهای دیگر بالاخره این تصمیم را میگیرد و به جستجوی نوع دیگری از زندگی میرود. بسیاری از انسانها برای عملی کردن چنین تصمیمهایی به محرکهای قدرتمند بیرونی وابسته هستند. شاید سرور یا اندوه بسیار از دست دادن کسی در زندگی ابتلا به یک بیماری لاعلاج چند مورد شایعی باشند که در این راه انگیزه و اشتیاق لازم را فراهم میکنند. شاید همه اینها یادمان میآورند که زندگی چقدر کوتاه است و تا چه اندازه برگشت ناپذیر. شاید کمکمان میکنند هر لحظه از باقی مانده عمرمان را حقیقتا زندگی کنیم و جایی برای حسرت باقی نگذاریم.

درونمایه اصلی کتاب بحران میانسالی است. بحرانی که انگار قرار است گریبان همه را بگیرد. فرقی نمیکند چقدر در حرفه خود موفق یا ناموفق باشید ازدواج کرده باشید یا نه شغل مورد علاقهتان را داشته باشید یا نه این بحران بدون در نظر گرفتن سوابق و تجربه زیستهی شما تمام دستاوردهایتان را هیچ جلوه میدهد و نقاط تاریک زندگیتان را به رختان خواهد کشید. لحظاتی که باعث شدهاند احساس شرم یا خجالت کنید لحظاتی که باعث شدهاند به دیگران اجازه بدهید شما را تحقیر کنند یا لحظاتی که کسی را که برایتان عزیز بود از خود راندهاید همگی در این دسته قرار میگیرند. شخصیت اصلی کتاب آندرآس دچار چنین بحرانی میشود. او متوجه میشود که چقدر با خود گذشتهاش غریبه است. به قدری که او را و تجربهها و خاطراتش را از آن کس دیگری میداند. وی با بر هم زدن نظم موجود یعنی استعفا از شغلش و ترک خانه و شهری که مدتها در آن زندگی میکرده به دنبال یافتن اثری از خود یا چیزیست که برایش اهمیت داشته باشد آن قدری اهمیت داشته باشد که زندگی یکنواخت و بیمعنیاش را تغییر دهد.

پتر اشتام نویسنده سوئیسی آثار بسیاری در کارنامهاش دارد. علاوه بر داستانها و نمایشنامهها وی مقالات بسیاری برای مجلات و رونامهها و همچنین تعدادی نمایشنامهی رادیویی نیز نوشته است. آثار او عموما به کاوش در لایههای به ظاهر ساده و روزمره زندگی میپردازد. اشتام از احساسات سادهای سخن میگوید که شاید به نظر بسیاری نویسندهها کم اهمیت بیایند. قهرمانان آثار او انسانهایی آشنا هستند که هر روز آنها را اطرافمان میبینیم. کارمندهایی خسته از روزمرگی زوجهایی که سالها با هم زندگی کردهاند و روزهای سخت و آسانشان و نوجوانانی که در حال کشف خود و دنیا هستند. همچنین به زندگی ماشینی انسان امروز میپردازد و افسردگی و یکنواختی گستردهای که روی آن سایه انداخته است. فرانتز کافکا نیز در اثر جاودان خود مسخ با رویکردی متفاوت به موضوعی مشابه پرداخته است یعنی تاثیرات زندگی ماشینی و منظم امروزی بر انسان و چگونگی غرق شدن دائمی او در میان مناسبات اجتماعی و فراموشی اجباری خود حقیقی او در میان دیوارهای بلندی که میان خودش و دیگران میبیند. از پتر اشتام کتابهای دیگری نیز به فارسی برگردانده شدهاند شامل: اگنس تمام چیزهایی که جایشان خالیست ماه یخ زده یخبندان سیاه و آسمان خیس. آسمان خیس مجموعه داستانهای کوتاهی از نویسندگان مختلف است. در میان آثار ترجمه شده اشتام اگنس با استقبالی بسیار خوب در میان فارسی زبانان مواجه شد. داستانی که میتوان آن را نمونه خوبی از ادبیات رومانتیک معاصر اروپایی دانست.

پتر اشتام با همت نشر افق به خواننده ایرانی زبان معرفی شد و همه کتابهای او به جز یخبندان سیاه توسط نشر افق منتشر شدهاند. کار بسیار پسندیدهای که نشر افق درباره آثار اشتام انجام داده خریداری امتیاز نشر این آثار برای چاپ در ایران بوده است. در سالهای اخیر ناشران دیگری نیز اقدام به نشر آثار در چهارچوب قوانین بینالمللی کپی رایت کردهاند در صورتی که چنین رسمی رواج بیشتری پیدا کند مسلم است که رویکرد نویسندگان و ناشران بینالمللی به ایران بهبود پیدا خواهد کرد و این برای همه جامعه ادبی ایران از نویسنده تا ناشر و مترجم و خواننده نتایج خوبی در پی خواهد داشت.

کتاب ترجمهای خوب روان و ساده دارد و غیر از چند اشتباه نگارشی قابل چشمپوشی مشکل دیگری ندارد. در ترجمه این اثر سعی شده است فرم نگارش نویسنده نیز در زبان فارسی حفظ شود. ساده نویسی توجه به جزئیات و تلاش برای بیان بیواسطه احساسات را میتوان از خصوصیات نثر اشتام دانست. این کتاب توسط نشر افق و به ترجمه مریم مویدپور در ۲۰۲ صفحه منتشر شده و قیمت آن ۱۲ هزار تومان است. Peter Stamm's writing is spare, Understated. No lush descriptions. No violent outbursts. Everything flows very smoothly. But watching that sleek surface flow past calm, controlled we become like Andreas indifferent, In fiction, as in life, emotion is twothirds of it and if not twothirds, then half, And if not half, then you begin to wonder whether you have lived, whether there is a story here after all,

The narrative is third person, We hear what people think not much, And what they feel even less, Andreas has a crisis in a mild way, And he takes drastic action in a calm way, Everything is in keeping with what we have already seen, It is all beyond arm's length, It is across the street, You can't touch the characters, They move in sight but out of reach, And barely within hearing. They are no one you know, Or are likely to care about,

Ibsen said that when he first started a play the characters were like people he had seen in a railway station, After further work on the play the characters were like people he had known for a few weeks, And after yet more work when the play was done the characters were like intimate friends,

Peter Stamm should have worked on this novel until the characters became like intimate friends, Then he should have shown them to us in that light, And, if the answer is that he did and they are if this is who Andreas and the others are in the full flat, indifferent, shallow then why on earth should we care I found the book a bit.
. not boring, not monotone, but something in that direction, . one long chapter, one long story of a guy, . that somehow gave me nothing really, .

i guess because i cant say that its terrible either, . but maybe a bit of an empty summer read Only Connect, On second thoughts, don't bother,

There can be something bracing about Peter Stamm's icecold objectivity, "Andreas loved the empty mornings when he would stand by the window with a cup of coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other, and stare down at the small, tidy courtyard, and think of nothing except what was there in front of him.
" And so thisnovel begins, with a fortyish bachelor, Swiss like the author, who lives in a Paris apartment and commutes daily to a high school in the suburbs, where he teaches German.
He has a couple of women friends, one married, one divorced, whom he sleeps

with on occasion with no commitment on either side, Then he goes to the doctor with a smoker's cough, and finds he needs a biopsy to investigate a shadow on his lungs,

We have been in this emotional territory before with Stamm, most notably with the female protagonist of sitelinkUnformed Landscape, whose life in the frozen wastes of Northern Norway changes when she decides to take a trip south.
Andreas is not so compelling a character, and certainly the setting is more ordinary, but an emotional glaciation like his is the necessary prelude to a thaw, Or so I thought.

Two things I did not like about the physical book: a graceless presentation and a mentitious blurb, It is poorly printed, with a tight center binding that hurts ones hands to hold open, And it attracts potential readers with a comeon that the actual text simply does not support, "Peter Stamm leads our antihero on a journey through a restorative midlife crisis to the realization that life is finitethat one must live it with passion, so long as this is possible.
" Restorative I hardly think so, and there is precious little passion either, Andreas' conduct after his biopsy is, if anything, more coldly dismissive of his friends than he had been before, And he reduces his life to almost nothing, giving up his job, selling his apartment and furniture, buying the smallest car acv, and heading back to the Swiss village where he was born.


True, he takes along a new young woman who appears to be fond of him, and goes to visit an old flame for whom he had sighed in vain twenty years before, but he allows the two experiences to cancel each other out.
He visits his brother and sisterinlaw in the old family home, but he has become a virtual stranger to them, Eventually, he heads back to France alone, towards an ending that might indicate a tiny movement of the glacier, But it is too little too late, Why should we connect with him, when he seems unable to make lasting connections with anybody else آدم ها گاهي توي گذشته ها جا مي مانند و وقتي به خودشان مي آيند روزها و ماه ها و سالها در خاطراتي زندگي كرده اند كه شايد حتي جزئيات آن را در ذهنشان از نو نوشته اند,
نثر روان و شيوه قصه گويي كتاب را دوست داشتم

فابين گفت كه از آن زمان مدت زيادي گذشته و در اين فاصله اتفاقات زيادي افتاده.
آندراس گفت اما نه توي زندگي من عالی!
فضاش عین فضای اگنس بود که البته توقع دیگهای هم نداشتم. و واقعا لذتبخش بود خوندنش. کلی هم افسردگی گرفتم بعد تموم شدنش. :

گویا توانایی ریویو نوشتنهام رو از دست دادهام. Hm. Also ich musste während des Lesens immer wieder schmunzeln und ich mag auch den lakonischen, einfachen Stil sehr, Aber insgesamt konnte das Buch mich nicht so überzeugen wie es vorher "Agnes" geschafft hat, Ich finde die Entwicklung des Buches schön und man befindet sich in einem Lesefluss, Allerdings ist es bis zum Ende hin sehr schwierig Empathie mit dem Hauptcharakter zu empfinden und er ist allgemein ziemlich unsympathisch, Ansonsten einige sehr schöne Sätze und das Ende ist kitschig und unrealistisch aber sehr spannend, : This is my favourite Stamm, A wry, laconic, deeply phobic and very funny account of a man's dealing with work and women, SeitJahren lebt der Schweizer Andreas als Lehrer in Paris, ein Tag so unspektakulär wie der andere, Seit er die Chance vertan hat, sich seiner Jugendliebe Fabienne zu offenbaren, nimmt er das Leben wie es kommt und verschwendet keine Energien darauf, den Ablauf seines Daseins zu verändern oder Beziehungen zu vertiefen.
Nichts berührt ihn wirklich, seine Freundschafts wie auch Liebesverhältnisse und die Verbindungen zu seiner Familie bleiben oberflächlich, als ob mit der Nichterfüllung seiner Liebe zu Fabienne jegliches Interesse an Anderen erloschen sei.
Erst als der Verdacht entsteht, er habe eine ernsthafte Krankheit, beschließt er aus dieser Monotonie seines Lebens auszubrechen,
Obwohl ich das Buch gerne gelesen habe, fällt es mir nicht leicht, es Anderen zu empfehlen, Die Handlung ist weder übermäßig spannend geschweige denn humorvoll, der Protagonist dröge und eher langweilig weshalb sollte man es dann lesen Vielleicht weil es ein Abbild des wahren Lebens ist, gerade in dieser Gleichförmigkeit, wo sich kaum ein Tag vom anderen unterscheidet.
Doch letzten Endes liegt es nur an einem selbst, dies zu ändern, Andreas' Krankheit veranlasst ihn dazu: Statt in seinen Träumen weiter zu verharren und den verpassten Chancen nachzutrauern, ergreift er selbst die Initiative und erkennt, dass die Träume nur wenig bis nichts mit der Realität zu tun haben.
Das echte Leben befindet sich genau vor ihm, er muss nur den Schritt hineinmachen,
Ein Buch, das weniger Unterhaltung bietet als Stoff zum Nachdenken, .
