Outgrowth of the Brain (The Cloud Brothers Short Stories) Reviews

This is the first short story I have read by James Field, and my interest has definitely been piqued. This is a bizarre tale about two security guards, one of whom has been incapacitated by an overwhelming migraine. The cause, and the cure, of this migraine are as strange as they are humorous. I suspect that the tale leads to further plot developments in subsequent short stories by this author, and I am going to find out by reading his What On Earth short story collection!

This is a nice off-beat short story in the Cloud Brothers series, not jam packed with action, but still delivers James Field’s trademark humour, and fleshes out some key characters and relationships.
Poor old Bert can’t cope with his security duties without Alf, who has a nasty migraine. So Bert calls in the Cloud Brothers to help. As you’d expect, their solution is far from conventional. A quick fun read and an important episode in Cloud Brothers folklore.
