Delve Into Detention (The Outliers #1) Planned By Claire Chilton Released As Paperbound

on Detention (The Outliers #1)
read a few books by this author, and I can quite honestly say that I've enjoyed every one of them so far, I came across this author while looking for new stories to read and I will continue reading her current and future stories,

Now, for this story, I found it humorous, and delightful, It is a short read, aroundpages, It's a short introduction of sorts to the life of Carla, who seems to be the main character for this series, She is sarcastic, witty, smart, and let's not forget, a knack for getting into trouble, She speaks her mind and does what she wants, thus leading her to the detention center known as Cleaner's Reformatory for Adolescent Purfication, which Carla states: C, R. A. P. The reason for her stay is that she dirtied someone's carpet, When she gets there, she discovers that kids are being mistreated by the center, She will go the distance to free herself and others even if she has to face The Monster on the fourth floor, . . She will rally all the kids and needless to say, there is a prophesy and she will face the mean grown ups with diabolical, yet humorous tactics which leads to the center closing.
.

The world building and the population is very original IMO, The people are green, though in Carla's case, purple, and she doesn't know why, . and the colony which she lives in, is based on being clean, The glossary at the end of this short short is a hoot, I will certainly look at Mr, Clean and AJAX totally different now,

I love this author's ability to take a mundane task cleaning and turning it into a story involving kids and their lives in this make believe world.
It portrays realism, but with satire and humor, I was laughing myself silly at times, just because of the situations that occurred during this story, It will remind you of things that you, yourself have done to be rebellious,

The main character is very likeable, honest with others and herself, Though some of her antics are crazy, she remains determined, Secondary characters were likeable, though didn't really contribute a lot through the story, but I'm hoping as I continue this series, they will be more involved in the situations being brought forth.
I found myself rooting for Carla,

The pace and flow of the story was steady for this type of story, The author has
Delve Into Detention (The Outliers #1) Planned By Claire Chilton Released As Paperbound
a created a world that grabbed my attention and curiosity, It contains humor, crazy antics by a teenager, This is a story that I would recommend to all readers who love to laugh, and love kids with their own perspectives of dealing with situations that they are given.

And lastly I love the book cover/title for this series, It fits the storyline/scenes within the book, I'm guilty of judging books by this, The book description was outstanding, . .

Happy Reading!!!!

I'm not even sure what I just read, There was no back story whatsoever and no character development, a Read it long back, yes, enjoyed it much more back then but it was still awesome, Not amazingly so, though. Maybe I outgrew it. We'll know when we see whatever happened to the squishies Okay short read, Gave me something to do while I relaxed, I got this book for free on smashwords and it was a pretty good read, When Carla dirties someone's carpet, her mom sends her a juvenile detention center where she is sent to serve a two week sentence, Unfortunately, the evil warden plans to make her stay there forever, Can she escape before bad things happen Read this and find out, I recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction escape stories, Shes been sentenced to teenage prison for the dumbest reason, ever!

When Carla Mainston is sentenced to two weeks in juvenile detention for dirtying someone elses carpet, she promises to never break the rules againno matter how stupid they are.

She thinks that the worst that can happen is she'll be bored to death, but it seems that the wicked warden of the institute plans to keep her imprisoned indefinitely in the detention center, along with all the other kids trapped behind its dark walls.
.

In an attempt to escape, Carla discovers the monster on the fourth floor and uncovers a darker purpose to the institution, She will have to fight for her freedom if she wants to go home, She will have to break all the rules if she wants to survive, . . I really enjoyed this book, although I wish that it had been longer, But for the first book in The Outliers series, I was pleased to get to know what kind of person Carla was, How Carla would react to situations, and I think that Detention was the right start to the series, I have to admit that I wasn't really too excited about starting it but once I got into it, I couldn't wait to get through it and see what was going to happen next.
I cannot wait to start reading, Legacy, the second book in The Outliers series,

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review, This was an extremely short read and right off the bat I noticed a typo on the very first page of the book, There were other errors scattered throughout the book but at this point it didn't really bother me because I knew what the author meant to say,

This book didn't really have a background story to go on,
The main character has purple skin and she lives in a green society meaning, everyone else has green skin, Hence, she is an outcast, Not only because of the color of her skin but also due to her rebellious nature in her backwards Dystopian society,

I felt like this story was rushed, It could've been better if it moved at a much S L O W E R pace and had additional chapters, I will say i was glad that the book just jumped right in, It normally takes a while for me to get into a new book,

This book should be geared towards a younger generation than in the genre of Young Adult,

I will not be continuing the series, There wasn't really anything wrong with the book it just wasn't for me, Although I will say this: I was surprised to find out just what the monster really was, I can't tell is this is weird and random or if it's supposed to make no sense Detention is an interesting beginning to the futuristic scifi series, The Outliers.
Carla is sent to teenage prison for getting mud on someone's carpet, Carla's mother insists that it's only for a short time, however, when Carla comes facetoface with the warden, she finds out that leaving may not be an option Hotel California anyone "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
". He's keeping "bad" children trapped in the prison, never letting them go, Carla knows that she and the other kids need to escape and she's just the one to do make it happen,

A quick read, Detention focuses mainly on what happens as Carla is being driven to prison and shortly thereafter, Other than knowing Carla is purple when the rest of her clan is green, we don't get a lot of background information, We basically take her at face value without any history, The author does a good job being descriptive of the characters and world within Detention, I didn't connect with any of the characters but that didn't make the story bad, I enjoyed the short jaunt through Claire Chilton's Outliers world,

The book is primarily suited for teens and young adults, Even though I enjoyed the book, parts of it were juvenile and silly, especially the part with the monster on the fourth floor, I do think Clare showed a nice bit of leadership, She knew something wasn't right within the prison and instead of sinking to despair, she rose above it and did what she had to do to expose the corruption.

I'm not sure I'll move on with the series at this time but I might in the future,

This is a verified Amazon purchase, It was a very good read, short and sweet, It was a exciting book from start to finish, Cute, funny book!

I enjoyed this short read! Going to a Reform School for getting mud on the floor and standing out because of her unusual color! Detention is not your everyday teen book.
Carla is purple. She doesnt fit in with the green population, She is sent to an institution for “rehabilitation” after muddying someones rug, She vows to behave, but thats just not in the cards,

This is a great, fun and short read, I was immediately sucked into Carlas story and I was only disappointed that I finished it so quickly, Chiltons fun sense of humor is evident in Carlas personality and in the general writing of Detention, The acronym for the institute is C, R. A. P.
Im curious to see where this series goes next,
Likeable

Liked the set up, The starting was good. This book was so short but it made us want to read the next books too, Just OK, IMO. Too short to get much character development or context, I may just not appreciate the humor, though, which isn't unusual for me, Interesting

This was a good science fiction story and it touched on a very real issue, The main character is outcast in her community because she is a different color, Instead of bowing down to the others and conforming to their standards she takes charge and saves the day, Hilarious, short as well as beautiful, I think this book is a start of something great, Story is unique as well seems familiar to other YA dystopian novels, Nice to read a good, YA book after a long time,

Most are good, but this one, I don't know really, I'm curious to know more and that's brilliant, Claire Chilton, amazing work! Loved all of it :

Simple, but effective A Great, if Brief, Start to an Excellent Series

Claire Chilton has two excellent rebellious teen girl fantasy series, "Outliers/Squishies" and "Demon Diaries", but figuring out which books go where is a challenge.
I have answered that challenge and am happy to offer a guiding hand, Because hey, what else are fans for

The "Outliers/Squishies" series features lilac colored loner Carla Mainston, and is a bit confused in terms of sequence.
There are two shorter origins type novellas one is "Fallen Queen", The other is this Outliers Bookand is titled "Detention", Then the series really kicks in with Outliers Book, "Legacy", originally titled "Whatever Became of the Squishies" in, and Outliers Book, "Shattered",

So there you have it, The full story to date, Now, what do we think of this opening book Well, I've read a lot of middle grade and YA fiction and fantasy and I'm a big fan of tween heroines.
But, you know, an awful lot of the tween ground has been plowed over and over, and there's only so much you can do with school, family drama, boys, mean girls and the like.

Enter this series, that revitalizes the genre as it entertains, Carla is a lilac misfit in the colony of the greenskinned, with a clumsy knack for getting herself into trouble and for attracting unfair punishments, She is smart, observant, goodhearted, and fundamentally appealing as a character, There has been a lot of emphasis in the blurbs and reviews about her being sarcastic, but I find her less sarcastic and more tart and nononsense, That's great because sarcastic can often drift into snarky and/or selfpitying, and this Carla character has too much selfconfidence and tenacious style to be just a smartmouth sad sack victim.

So, not to put too fine an edge on it, we have a feisty heroine, strong and well defined supporting characters, a nice fantasy world rich in metaphorical significance aimed at the understanding of a younger reader, a compelling plot, and a lot of snappy oneliners.
All wrapped up by an author who obviously has a real fondness for the characters, for the world she has created, and for the real world, How can this be bad
