Pick Up The Merger: A Romantic Comedy Of Intergalactic Business Negotiations, Indecipherable Emotions, And Pizza By Sunil Patel Listed As Script
fun story and some entertaining extras, We are the publishers! This couple is the most adorable couple, I was lucky enough to hear the author read this aloud when he was still working through it and so I am admiting bias via friendship here but it read fresh upon seeing it in print as when I first heard it.
This short story a delight to readit's absurd and funny yet touching, Corporate mergers take on a whole new meaning when it involves an alien species looking to acquire the rights to your body, Can it still be termed "not a hostile takeover" if the fate of the planet hangs in the balance Anyone who loves scifi and has experience life in the corporate world will appreciate this clever and delightful story.
Also I want pizza now, Funny and cute lower rating only because, to me, it ends where a great story could begin, and thus, to me, feels much more like a prologue than a short story.
Funny short story but for me it just got started and I had a lot of questions by the end that went unanswered, A really good beginning of a story, I want to say something like "reminds me of Asimov", in that it's scifi humor making fun of annoying parts
of contemporary life in this case, corporate merger culture, but I'm afraid that I read so little scifi humor that maybe it's ALL like this.
In any case, like the author I've lived through corporate nonsense and related to all the jokesyes, there are a lot of jokes, including groaners, I found them clever and fun, though,
The MC is one of those "everyman whose wife is the smart one in the marriage" characters, so maybe the ending is fitting.
And of course, it's good to see established couples in things, because when fiction acts like marriage is a happy ending instead of a beginning it's very strange for those of us who get married to know what to do next! The perfect mixture of humor and creative scifi that I love and so rarely find.
Its a pretty quick read but it doesn't feel like you've been skimped on story, Sita and Paresh are both wonderfully fun characters to get to know though I have to admit, I would probably pass on any of Sita's kitchen experiments, . . I really enjoyed this. It was pretty funny, random with the alien blob negotiating takeover of Paresh's body and always appearing at inappropriate moments, Also a lovely depiction of the relationship between husband Paresh and wife Sita, However one star is taken of because I thought that the blog post was just a preview and bought the ebook in anticipation for moar, However I don't regret it too much because it was pretty good for a short,
I just need MOAR Sunil Patel! I hope you continue to do more shorts or continue in Sita and Paresh's Alien legally body snatched adventures,
EDIT: Revised my rating tostar because there is a ton more goodies in the ebook version including DELETED SCENES! Yas, Delightful I want to read more! Such a fun read! I wish it was longer, Disclaimer: The author is a friend, so certainly there is some bias in his direction, :
That said, this as a fun, fast read, I almost gave itrather thansimply because it ended before I wanted it to I was all into the story!! LOL, That's the peril of good short stories, though they do tell a complete story, but they also leave you wanting more, And this one definitely did,
I highly recommend grabbing this on your ereader, Aliens! Happy, healthy couple! Comedy! And for anyone who has recently undergone a corporate merger, there is something more than a bit satisfying about it all, Ha.
Definitely worth your time, I enjoyed this way more than I expected to, I really hope the story will continue, Humorous Short Story
A really different story about alien first contact, Paresh is a computer programmer from Oracle who is confronted by a globby alien lawyer on his way home from work, The alien represents a intergalactic corporation which wants to acquire his body, His wife Sita naturally becomes involved, Very humorous. The actual story is only a part of the book, The rest is a interview with the author and some excerpts from the story which were deleted due to size constraints when it was submitted for prior publication.
Fun. I liked this quick amp funny, A nice little escape that also showcased a very realfeeling couple,
Will reread. sitelink booklikes. com/post/ funny. really funny. I often find short fiction feels too short, like something is left out not this piece, I knew the characters quicklythere were no skipped steps and I felt the end, was the end, Nicely done Paresh and Sita are a loving married couple who share a mostly pleasant and uneventful life, That is, if you dont count Sitas cooking experiments with turkey chili pizza dont ask, All that changes one evening, when Paresh is approached by a gelatinous, horned blobalien from outer space who makes a lucrative offer that Paresh and Sita literally cannot refuse or else the world is, well, kaput.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, the couple learns that business negotiations with alien corporations are not so different from negotiations on Earth.
And one should always, always read the fine print before agreeing to a merger, .
