Series to Love
I want to say foremost that I love reading this series, I realize there are grammatical errors, but the characters and their stories push through them,
I look forward to reading the next book, Another wonderful book in the Wildflowers series! This was a very heavy book though, major trigger warnings for abuse! I rooted for Violet the whole book! And I was so happy Dolly came back safe and sound.
Im excited to read the next book! A mixed blessing
To find an author with the amazing talent to write a smoothly flowing and complex blending of many stories is an unending delight.
The converse is that midst all this good there are words used that are totally wrong for the context, too many misplaced commas and misused pronouns, factual errors there is no wild peppermint or spearmint in the Pacific Northwest, missed chances picking arnica which has awesome medicinal use and is not then used in the lab.
Still, I shall continue to read because of my love of the characters portrayed, This was my favorite book in this series, It seemed that the development of the characters was more realistic and less stereotypical of so many Christian fiction novels with main female characters, I think I've become 'desensitized' to the grammatical errorsthey didn't seem to be as glaring in this novel, Thisth novel in the series once again portrays young women who are pursuing passions in life beyond housekeeping and childrearing which was unusual for that period of history.
However, perhaps women on the frontier in Oregon were not typical women of the time at all, This book is set in the's in the Williamette Valley of Oregon, All of the characters I had come to admire so much in the previous novels in the series are back but this novel focuses more on Dolly, the young NativeAmerican girl who had come to Oregon with Corinne to learn ways to use plants and herbs to help the Shoshone tribe that had raised her.
At the beginning of the novel, young Native American men have arrived to take her back to the Wind River Mountains, The other character with a primary focus is Vivien Griffin, the young woman whose husband Eddie had left her behind while he went hunting for gold in California.
In this novel, the dark secrets of her past are exposed and dealt with, In this novel, the people of Oregon City are also hard hit by yellow fever and tragedies as a result of it, Even though there are many grammatical errors, the characters of this novel are complex and really drew me in, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and am glad to see that another book or the series is in process, Banicki's novels in this series fascinating portrayals of women with
very different passions and lives on the Oregon frontier Great Series, . .
