4 Sweet Stars!
“In that instant I saw the life I wanted. I wanted to be their protector, their refuge from the pain and disappointment.”
Healing follows the story of Anna and Noah. After loosing her son’s father, Anna has just been trying to pick up the pieces of her life. She has such a busy and full life, that she doesn’t have time for much else. Her family is desperately wanting Anna to meet someone and take a chance on love again. For Anna, love just isn’t a priority right now….Noah isn’t looking for love. He just got out of a terrible relationship. He’s new in town and is making his career his focus. Until one night, Noah’s friend Craig, convinces Noah to go out for a guys night. This is the night he meets Anna. Meeting Anna changes everything. Noah suddenly can’t get Anna out of his head. The only problem is, he’s got to convince Anna to take a chance. Will Noah be able to convince Anna that he is someone worth taking a risk on? Will both Anna and Noah be able to let go of their pasts?
I thought Healing was a terrific book. I really enjoyed Anna and Noah’s story. I thought that it was really sweet and light on the drama. I fell in love with the characters almost instantly. They just possessed a quality that pulled me in. I even enjoyed the secondary characters. Christine and Craig were great additions to the story. Christine is Anna’s sister. Not only was she supportive of Anna, but she also gave Anna that push that she desperately needed. The other thing that I liked about Christine was that she had an air of mystery about her. She’s hiding something and I really can’t wait to find out what her secret is. And Craig, well from what I gathered, he’s been done wrong in the past. He seems like a really great friend to Noah. And when he’s not fighting with Christine, the two of them share some excellent chemistry. The two of them are definitely hiding something, and I hope that we’ll hear more from them in the future.
I just adored Anna and Noah. Anna is a single mom, just trying to best for her son. She’s so used to doing everything on her own and hates asking anyone for help. I love how she makes her son her #1 priority. I loved seeing Anna and Noah together. The two of them shared an instant connection. This is a case of insta-love that I felt really worked. Their chemistry was palpable and I loved the ease the two of them had together. Noah really took me by surprise. I wasn’t really expecting him to be an alpha male, so when I saw him start with the alpha tendencies, I was hooked even more.
My only complaint and it is such a small one, is that I would have liked to see Noah’s ex get a little of what was coming to her. She made a big stink and tried to ruin things between Noah and Anna. And then just sort of disappeared. I just would have liked to have seen a confrontation between her and Noah, and her seeing that her antics were not going to work.
Overall, I really enjoyed Healing. It is the debut novel of author Rachel Caid. I think this series is off to really good start. It has a nice mix of angst and romance. The story is sweet, with some drama, but not too much. I think this author has a lot of really great potential and I’m looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

This author is new to me, I’ve never read a book written by her so I was excited to be offered a chance to read Healing. I also loved that fact that this book was the first book in the series so I knew if I liked this book there would be more to come regarding the characters. Healing is about Anna who is left to raise her son Roman after his father passes away. Anna has made a comfortable life for herself and her son and doesn't believe or think she can ever truly heal and move on from the loss of Roman’s father. Despite her family’s best efforts and advice Anna is content with the way her life is going and doesn’t plan on changing it anytime soon. That is until our main man Noah enters into her life. Noah is just getting out of a bad relationship (ex-girlfriend is one shady lady!) and has no intention dating, he is more interested and focused on building his business with his friend. When he is talked into going out for a “guy’s night” because his friend wants to meet up with a chick he meet, Noah meets Anna. The moment they meet one another it is evident that there is instant chemistry. Will the instant be something they both want to see where it could lead? Can they both get over their pasts and move on or will the ghosts and mistakes of the pass take away a chance of love and happiness?
Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely loved Roman. He is the coolest kid ever. The author wrote him in such a believable way that I truly felt this young kid’s personality leap right from the page. Noah was truly a great guy and I liked him from the moment we were introduced to him. Although in guy fashion there were things he did where I immediately was thinking “oh brother you are going to be in trouble”. However he is a truly relatable character and I loved how he doesn't give up no matter what challenges he faces. I liked Anna however there were times in the story where I wanted to shake her and make her come to her senses. Overall I did like this story, I will probably read the other stories in the series as we were introduced to Noah’s friend and Anna’s sister and I want to hear their story.

Rachel Caid has a gift when a story is written with elegance and such harmony to the point where I wasn’t even sure I was reading the story. I felt like movie clips were running through my vision instead of words on a piece of paper. Before I could write this review I had to discuss this book with my mom who hasn’t even read it. She was so entranced with what I had to said she took my iPad away and went to read it…by locking me out of her room. Rarely does that ever happen.
As you read in the blurb you have a single mother named Anna raising her son Roman who's only five years old. Her dating isn’t seeing the light of day because she distance herself from men by focusing all her attention on her amazing son and business. She was going so well..until a down-to-earth handsome man named Noah showed up and ruined all chances.
This wasn’t instant love, but it was attraction. Attraction that Noah wanted to explore, to act on, but Anna didn’t want to explore. She wanted Noah to take a hint and just leave. Most of the time men would understand and not try, but Noah was gonna have that date just not as quick as he thought. As you watch this journey unfold you couldn’t help but get involved just like the other characters that were encouraging Anna to give Noah a chance. I felt like their personal cheerleader, but as everything started to piece together something from the past quickly resurfaces. Shattering what they started to develop.
To find out what happens with Anna, Roman and Noah one-click this story because you’ll enjoy the many hot and sultry moments that will heat up your kindle. I recommend this to people that want to escape to the modern reality of a single mother who does anything to protect not only her heart, but her son’s.

Emotional, heart-warmingly beautiful, real--Rachel Caid's debut novel reached right into my heart and made me feel. Anna and Noah loved with a depth that swept me away, and I wanted to be a part of their story as they struggled and strove to learn to trust each other. What I truly loved about this story was the inclusion of Anna's son. How Noah fell in love with him right along with Anna. It was so beautiful and had me rooting for this couple from the start. Congratulations, Rachel, on this fine accomplishment. Filled with a mix of raw and tender emotion, HEALING is not to be missed.

I loved this book. I am sucker for romance but they can be repetitive and seem to almost blend in with each other because a lot of plots are the same. But this one was unique and beautiful. Most romance novels are single individuals falling in love etc. What I loved about Healing is that our female protagonist has a child who she loves more than herself and her relationship with Noah revolves around how Roman, her son feels. It is a beautiful story about moving on and accepting love back into your life and family. Very, very cute read.

I really loved the refreshing attitude of this book. Sometimes love isn’t about fixing what is broken. It’s just taking what is already good and making it even better!
This is an everyday girl’s fantasy! You won’t find a billionaire bad-boy hero, or a broken heroine in need of rescuing. No tortured pasts or shattered lives in need of repair. Nope the H/h, Noah and Anna, are strong, stable and independent people who actually have their shit together. Their story provided me a much needed respite from the darker more tragic novels I have been reading lately. Not that I don’t love these types of books but it was nice to be reminded that reading a love story of two fairly stable people can be just as exciting and enjoyable to read!!
There is a bit of an interesting debate woven into this story. We all have a past and a history so in a relationship, just how much of that past are we obligated to share. Are our partners entitled to a full disclosure or just the pertinent events? And just how soon should they be revealed? Are there certain events that are OK to never share? Thought provoking stuff and I pretty sure there is no one right answer.
Oh and did you know there was such a thing as a “Good Guy Alpha”? Well there is and his name is Noah!!! I do believe I am in love!
Ms. Caid has written an entertaining, emotional and sexy story of two regular people struggling to make the right choices in everyday life. The characters feel real and relatable. I did find a couple places that overall flow seemed to hesitate but not enough throw me out of the story.
Overall a great debut! Ms. Caid, I will be stalking..err…I mean, watching you. Now get to work on the next book!!! -

This was such a beautifully written book. I loved every minute of it. Noah and Anna are very sweet together. Some of my favorite moments are of Noah and Anna's son Roman, it shows the kind of person Noah is. Most guys wouldn't have stepped up and took on a son. But to be fair, Roman is a pretty cool little guy.
Anna, has basically put her life on hold, only living for her son and his happiness. She lost her best friend/baby daddy and is still trying to heal from it. Her family are huge supporters of hers and try to get her to go out and experience life outside of Roman. She's not quite ready but does it anyway... enter the meeting..
Noah, just got out of a relationship with a very manipulative woman. The entire relationship was based on lies. Anyway, he is no where near ready for a relationship. He is focused on building his business and that's it. Something changes when he meets Anna...He suddenly wants to be a better man and prove to her that she can love again. I must say there were times that Anna drove me crazy, only because she let her fear rule her life and not do things she should have done. With the help of her family and the persistent of Noah, she finally opens her heart to him. The vindictive g/f tries to come back but is easily shut down. Noah is truly one of a kind and proves it time and time again with Anna. She eventually sees this and comes around. She opens her heart and is rewarded heavily. This is a great debut novel and I can't wait to read more from this author. I highly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read about Craig and Christine next!! -
"I like having you wrapped around me."
Congratulations to author, Rachel Caid, on writing a great debut novel. Healing has been on my TBR since the announcement of its coming publication, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to read.
"I wanted to be their protector, their refuge from pain and disappointment."
I loved how Rachel Caid told this love story without having to scream, "I'm telling you a story." The words flowed on the page and into my heart. Told in dual points of view from both Noah and Anna, this was a very down-to-earth, believable story about two people finding each other, in spite of their pasts, and beginning new chapters towards a brighter tomorrow. The characters were relatable and easy to follow. There were many hot and sultry moments in the story that raised the temperature in the room and caused me to cheer just a little bit harder for this couple. Add to the mix a supportive but pushy sister, a demanding but devoted best friend, and a very sweet and young boy, and the mix is complete. Each setting and scene were described in a way that made me feel as if I was present in that place and at that very moment. Ending the story, I felt acceptance and fulfillment as book one in this series came to a close, and was hopeful for the ones that are to come.
"He was the missing piece to our puzzle." -
This book is absolutely amazing in so many ways. It's beautifully written and the emotional connection you are able to make with the characters just takes this book to a whole other level. Noah had this amazing masculine presence that just had me awe. It wasn't just that he was sexy and handsome, it was this way he was with Anna. He understood the armor she had surrounding herself was to protect how precious and vulnerable she was on the inside. He chipped away small bits when he needed to and tore away massive pieces when she was ready. He handled her with a gracious kind of respect every woman deserves. And he has so many of these amazing one liners... they gave me chills. His presence is so dynamic as a male lead. And Anna, I just love how the mother in her is so fierce and protective but that she also realizes she's more than just that. There's a woman who longs for that feeling of loving and relying on someone, even when it's terrifying. There's something so compelling about becoming an "us" and there is such a push and pull against that throughout this entire book, I just couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to so many more amazing books from this author!

This was really a sweet read! It has been a while since I read a book that was so sweet but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really enjoyed Anna and Noah's story. They both really just pulled me in for some reason. Anna is a single mother who is putting her son as her top priority and is just so use to doing everything on her own. While Noah is all alpha male which truthfully was a little bit of a surprise. I guess I thought he would be more sweet, boy next-door rather than all HOT alpha male. He does have an ex who makes an attempt to ruin things. All in all this was a wonderful book and really can't wait to see what's next in store for this series. This was the perfect weekend read for me and should be on your list of to be read this month.

Loss crippled me.
Lies crushed him.
Love healed us.
Stepping out of the comfortable life Anna Johnston had created, away from heartache, wasn't in her plans, but Noah Evans couldn't accept a life with out her.
Life proves messy, but as a pottery artisan, Anna knows some of the most beautiful creations start with a dirty lump of clay. -
When five year old Roman clamps on to Noah's leg in Healing by Rachel Caid, that did it for me. In that one moment I was on Roman's side thinking "You've lived all these years without a Dad in your life buddy, but this guy? He'll do" Simultaneously I was on Noah's side thinking "Dude, you've got this". The burgeoning relationship between the two is really something quite special.
Again, at the same time I'm right with Anna, recognizing that she needs to protect young Roman from getting too invested too soon in this man who has suddenly turned up in their lives.
Told from alternate POVs, Healing tells the story of Anna, widow and single mother who is so very much more than happy remaining in both of those roles indefinitely, having her world rocked by the intrepid Noah who finds her reticence to begin a relationship completely unacceptable.
Insinuating himself into the lives and hearts of both Roman and his mother, Noah wins over not only them, but Anna's entire extended family, but when secrets are first kept, and then found out, can that breach of trust ever be healed?
Rachel writes with a soft, thoughtful, and engaging style, drawing the reader into the emotional struggles of her characters, particularly Anna who is committed to her son above all others, but carries her own secrets that she's never told anyone.
I love stories that involve young children and this is no exception, with moments that are funny and endearing, they can bring something special to a book, but what stands our about this one, is the sensitivity shown in Anna's quandary over how to best protect Roman, by holding back, or moving forward
This book was a delight to read and really touched my heart. I'm really looking forward to other books in the series that will hopefully explore the stories of Anna's siblings, Christine and Pete. -

There was something about this book, that made it really hard to put down – housework was put off and it was hard to close my kindle and go to sleep at night. It wasn’t one thing, but it was the combination of several well-written elements which made this book special for me.
First of all, I loved the characters. Anna touched my heart and I really wanted her heart to heal, even though I didn’t always understand why she couldn’t move forward. I fell in love with Noah. As Noah himself said, he didn’t want to be her “boyfriend”, he wanted to her “man”. And what a man he was. Not only was he hot to look at (I’m basing this comment on Anna’s description), but he possessed all the qualities anyone would want in a boyfriend. Or should that be man?
Roman, Anna’s five-year-old son stole my heart. He reminded me of my own son and if I could, I would have reached into that book so I could hug him. In fact, I loved her whole family, even though Christine, her sister, was a bit of a mystery. I guess I’ll find out more about her in the next book in the Finding Home series.
The story itself moved along at a steady pace - not too fast and not too slow – but I was still reading those pages as fast as I could because I wanted to know more about both Anna’s and Noah’s past and why it had impacted so much on their present.
This is a book full of feelings. It made me smile, it made me sigh, it made me angry and it made me sad, but the best thing of all was the fact that I finished Healing with a smile on my face.

Anna Johnston is on tough cookie, raising her son Roman on her own isn’t easy. But she has the support of her parents and her sister Christine and her brother Pete.
This was a fun feel good book for me. I really needed a book with a kid in it, they just bring out the fun in almost any character.
She can’t trust just anyone in her and Roman’s life so she chooses to not anyone at all. Only sister knows best… lol yeah my sister would have a hoot at that one. And she gets Anna out of the house where she meets Mr. Sex on legs I swear, Noah Evans.
“Do I go back, or do I take the leap forward?” -Anna
The meet in this book was cool Christine is smitten with Craig, who brought his wing man Noah along. It ends up being perfect for all involved.
Noah isn’t happy in his current love life either he isn’t really looking for anyone after his last break up but when he sees Anna all bets are off. And when he finds out about Roman he isn’t going to go running in the other direction.
“I’m not going to hurt Roman. Ii will not hurt either of you, and it’s time for you to accept that.” -Noah
I loved that even though Anna is smitten she doesn’t let her body over take her mind. She is still in charge and says no when needed. Being a momma first is her number 1 and I loved that.
This book is a sweet tail of how to heal after life throws hard balls at you. Can’t wait to dive in to book 2! -
3.5 stars! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I think this was a great debut novel for this author!
Anna is a business owner, artist, single mother to Roman. She says she's too busy to date, when really she's just avoiding getting her heart hurt after Henry, the father of her child, passed away. Then she meets Noah and the attraction is instant, but Anna is very resistant. It takes a lot of convincing from her family (most prominently from her sister Christine, who will have her own book next) but she starts to give Noah a chance. Good things are happening for Anna in both her personal life and her career, when the bomb walks in and makes Anna question all of Noah's motives. Can Anna learn to trust Noah and give him another chance for her sake and Roman's?
I enjoyed this read! I felt like it was a little slow in the beginning but then it started to pick up and I was hooked. I loved the bond between Noah and Roman, very sweet and real connection there. The chemistry between Anna and Noah was great, I just sometimes wanted to bang Anna's head against her kiln because she over thinks things and then retreats into herself with out communicating. I understand why she does it, to protect her child, and that's good, but I still wanted to smack her around a few times :) I look forward to reading Christine and Craig's story! -

Want to read a book that will make you feel?
Healing will be the one to read.
Rachel Caid is a new author to me and I immediately fell in love with her writing. The story flowed effortlessly.
The writing made me feel what the characters were feeling. I felt every tear, heard every laugh and fell in love when Noah and Anna did.
Anna was a single mom who is still grieving over losing her son Romans father. All her time went to running her business and raising her son. She had no time for relationships. When she met Noah, she had no intentions of settling down. After fighting hard to protect her heart, she just might give in.
Noah is swoon worthy. ❤❤❤
He was getting over a devastating dating experience. But that was in his past or was it?
He wanted nothing more than to love Anna and her son. He had to prove that everything he said he was, he is. He is a perfect role model for Roman and an even better man for Anna. But like a lot of relationships, there are hurdles to get over.
This story was absolutely beautiful.
5 Stars for a wonderful romance story with an HEA. -
3.5 Stars
This was a good debut novel from Rachel Caid.
I started this book feeling pretty disconnected to the characters, it took me a little time to get into it but when I did it completely drew me in.
I found Anna to be hard to like, she was pretty selfish and I just couldn't warm up to her. Her attitude irked me since she wasn't fully honest with Noah.
I really liked Noah, he was so solid, loveable and just damn hot! I loved Noah and Roman's relationship, the way Noah treated Roman like he was his own melted my heart completely!
For me Roman stole the show, he was such a cute little boy and you couldn't help instantly fall for him. He made me laugh and shed a few tears.
I really enjoyed the secondary characters, I can't wait to see where Rachel takes us next!
For me the only downfall in this book was it just sort of skimmed over the start of the relationship with Anna and Noah, other than that this book was a great read with a few frustrating parts mixed with a lot of heart warming emotions! -
Healing is a wonderful debut book by Rachel Caid. Once you start reading this book you won't want to put it down. The story flows so well from beginning to the end. Anna and Noah are to people trying to move on with their lives after having a not so perfect past. When we first meet Anna, she is a single mother raising her son Roman, she owns her own pottery store where she makes all her own creations. Noah is a construction worker who flips houses for a living, who is new to town.
When these two first meet is a spark that both of them feel, but will the past prevent them from exploring their feelings for one another. Can a women that has built a wall around her heart let someone in? Will Noah be able to show Anna, that love can heal anything? You will need to read Healing to get the answers. This story will have you laughing and crying. I can't wait for the next book in the series. So, grab it up today!! I was given an ARC for an honest review. -
Very good debut novel for Ms. Caid! The writing was good, the story flowed well and the plot, while not complex, kept you interested.
In Healing, you meet Anna, who has a 5-yr boy, Roman and Noah, who is her suitor. Anna works to keep herself distanced from men, preferring to focus on her son and her business instead. However, along comes Noah who falls for her immediately. Not the insta-love stuff, but he sees something in this woman that he's not seen before in others. He wants to spend time with her and she pushes him off. She's scared of getting invested and having someone break not only her heart, but that of her son. Eventually he wears her down, but then a secret he's kept from her threatens to tear them apart.
If you're looking for a genuinely sweet romance, this is the one for you. Throw a cute 5-yr old in the mix and you've got yourself a winner!
* I was gifted a free copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. -
Anna is closed off from relationships out side her family clinging to the loss she previously experienced. She has no desire to ever feel that way again, so she hides behind her son to keep men away.
But Noah doesn't take a hint. He doesn't back off when he hears about Roman. He doesn't run the other way when she says its not a date. No, Noah keeps coming back and what's worse is Anna doesn't try to stop him.
Noah knows what he wants now that he's met Anna, but Anna will not give in without a fight.
Secrets, though, can eat at a relationship and these two have enough secrets to do that. When everything comes to light will there be forgiveness and healing or an end to what could be?
Its a sweet story about second chances that are really the first chance.

I had never heard of this author when I purchased this book, she was totally new to me and I am so glad to have discovered her!
This book is hands down amazing. Noah and Anna have incredible chemistry. Noah treats Rome like his own son and is all around one of the best heroes I've ever read about!
Anna is a wonderful heroine, she has a great head on her shoulders and she is a hard worker, business owner and phenomenal mother. I loved watching this story come together.
Noah is an alpha male, he's bossy but caring and exactly what I look for in a book boyfriend.
The story line was great and well thought out and Rachel has me so hooked I can not wait to read Eyes Open (book two) in the New Year.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to all romance readers! -

Emotional , I loved this book.
Anna is trying to move on, working and making a life for her son. she doesn't have time for love, she's not sure she'll ever get over losing Roman ' s farther, until.......
Noah just got out of a bad relationship so the last thing he wants is to play wing man for his friend, then he sees her and gets a sense of protection.
Anna is attracted to Noah but can she risk her heart or Romans, will Noah convince her to take a chance.
these characters are amazing, the story flows great. definitely a must read. -
First let me say that I'm so proud of Rachel. Writing and publishing is such a scary choice and she totally rocked!
Anna, a single mother has decided that she no longer wants to date or fall in love with anyone since her son's father Henry left.
Noah, a caring guy who was burn bad by an ex girlfriend is forced to go out with a friend. Seeing Anna that first time was all he needed, to know what he wanted and it was her.
This is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to read the second book in this series.
