Clikk is a sky pirate. A picklock with a tragic past. An orphan out for revenge. The Blue Dusk allow knights to brutalize peasants with impunity. As famine grips the provinces, they collect what little harvest remains. Molly, a child with a dangerous secret, could be the catalyst of a revolution, but Captain Dirk of the Wastrel has every intention of selling her to the tyrannical regime. Clikk has other plans, plans involving mutiny, sabotage and a movement that will plunge the nation into chaos.

Sky Song Overture Reviews

I received this story (audiobook version) from the author for an honest review.

I’m definitely a fan of steampunk and this was a pretty good story. I didn't really have any issues with the characters, plot, or storyline; it was an overall good story. I, especially, loved the story about Adam, John and the apple tree. Also when Baker realized that Clikk was a female. He was a funny character. Glad the two of them ended up together. I love these types of stories because of all the extra information or details that the writer uses to create a believable future/setting for characters or occupations that aren't real (there have never been sky pirates). I could definitely see this made into a series. I'd be curious to know how much Captain Dirk would be able to change and what happens with Molly, Clikk, and Baker.

This fast-paced adventure will keep you enthralled in its Steampunk fantasy. Sky pirates coalesce with oppressed rebels to help a dethroned royal family try to regain power years after they were thought to all be assassinated. A plot twist revealed early in the story progresses to a surprise ending, setting up the next book of the series without an annoying, unsatisfying cliffhanger. This book is suitable for readers of all ages. Even my 93-year-old mother thoroughly enjoyed reading it on her kindle app, and she had no concept of the Steampunk genre.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this book when I started reading it. I love the idea of sky pirates, so I was excited. It certainly didn't disappoint. The story is equal parts intriguing, brutal, and touching. One of the things I loved most about this was the fact that no one was safe. Not in like a "Game of Thrones eventually this character will die" kind of way. There was just so much unexpected death. You barely got time to get to know a character before their brains were being splattered everywhere. Great writing, great story.

I love this book. A must read. Total page turner. Great to see a strong female protagonist!
