The Bride of Falcon by Collette Cameron
Six years = five seasons. Five long seasons for Ivonne Wimpleton to accept that she is an undesirable. Six long years to realize & accept that the one man she has loved since she was 15 does not love her.

Six long years - that's how long Chancy Faulkenhurst, Falcon, has been away from England. Six years since he's seen the one girl he wants for a wife, one that whose father refused him six years ago. Now he's home, poor & disfigured, with little prospects to woe the girl he wants & to gain her father's approval.

During a house party given by Ivonne's parents she is pursued by a man she has no intention of ever marrying. In running from this man she literally bumps into none other than Falcon. The man she's loved for years, the man she wrote to but never received a letter in return. Why, oh why, has she run into him now when she's finally ready to get on with her life knowing there's no hope with him? And why is her stomach dong flips at the sight & smell of him?

Ivy, his Ivy, still so beautiful. But why is she running, why is she afraid? When her would be suitor follows her into the arbor & demands to know why she's in the arms of another man, Chancy realizes what she fears. As the conversation continues it becomes clear this man is not going to give up so Chancy says the first thing that enters his head - Ivy is promised to another. Such a simple statement leads to headaches for all involved when the Prince Regent demands to meet Ivy's intended. As Ivy considers her options Chancy is considering a move to America - he cannot stand to be in England if Ivy is married to another. As the days continue circumstances change. Will Chancy stay in England? Will he propose to Ivy? Will Ivy be able to marry for love or will she have to settle just to make the Prince Regent happy?

I'm a huge fan of Collette Cameron's & she never fails to entertain - complete with laughter & tears and Bride of Falcon is no exception. An EXCELLENT read.

Tempted by a Rogue by Lauren Smith
Eleven years ago he promised her they would be together forever when he returned. Eleven years & dozens of letters she has never considered another.
So many years ago his best friend asked him to write the girl he promised to return to and break things off. Something he could not bring himself to do. Over those many years & letters he has fallen in love with this girl.
Now he’s home & must face the consequences of all those letters. He’s home is all she can think about and cannot wait to start her life with him.
His friend sets forth a disastrous plan to break things off, a plan he reluctantly goes along with hoping he can win her love in the end. When her love fails to follow through with asking for her hand & she realizes the truth of all these years she is devastated. When she learns the truth can she come to terms with it and realize that maybe she had been writing the love of her life and can he convince her that she was?
A beautifully written love story by Lauren Smith. One that makes you want to smack the characters all the while falling in love with them & rooting for their HEA.

This is my review for Bride of Falcon by Collette Cameron

Collette does it again! She has the ability hook me from the first paragraph. The interactions between the characters are very entertaining and it never gets boring. This is a short story and I read it from the Captivated By His Kiss (A Limited Edition Boxed Set of Seven Regency Romances).

The story takes place in London during the 1800s. It is about a woman who is considered a spinster and a man returned from India scarred and disfigured.

Ivy, the spinster, captivates the story from the first page. I was already rooting for her and feeling sorry for her situation. It gets better for her after she runs into Falcon (the man she has feelings for and who has been gone for six years)and the story progresses from there. Our two characters have the classic feelings of "I'm not good enough for him/her" and a lot of mixed signals. It wouldn't be a story without that! She will eventually live up to the title and becomes the bride of Falcon.

I can always count on the author to make me smile. Her books are the perfect way to cheer me up, because I know they always end happily. It's like chocolate, after a stressful day, her books are the perfect pick me up.

    Mixed bag

Like all collections of short stories this book varies in quality from one to the next. Ella Quinn has never disappointed me. And I have been lucky enough to discover a new-to-me author, Louisa Cornell. I went straight to put her on my automatic-buy list. Her contribution was funny and touching, her hero far from perfect, but the reasons behind his imperfections were gradually coaxed out. The three stars represent the average of all the stories, not these two which are five star material.

As it often is with anthologies, the inner ratings are from 1 Star to 5 Stars, which means there is something for everyone. I have to admit, though, that some of the stories were absolutely original in their content - at least to me.
As you can see with my 3 Star rating, you'll be properly entertained for at least 50% of this read.

These here were my favourites, deservedly earning themselves 5 Stars:

BRIDE OF FALCON by Collette Cameron
Faced with spinsterhood, Ivonne Wimpleton takes fate into her own hands determined to win the heart of her wholly unacceptable childhood love . . . scandal be damned.

IT TAKES A HERO by ELLA QUINN

These were very slow moving, the character not that interesting
