I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! Collette Cameron has the unique ability to put you in the characters shoes, She makes excellent use of first person, . . especially with the little "thoughts" each character has these cracked me up!, Along with the wager between Brooke amp Heath that involves Freddy, the dog, had me laughing amp yelling out loud, She also sets up the next story with the some of the secondary characters amp it's going to be explosive, Anxiously waiting for the next story!
Blythe: Schemes Gone Amiss
Watch out London! The Culpepper Misses have arrived at the dismay of Blythe Culpepper, Having arrived in London with her sister, brotherinlaw amp cousins Blythe is being introduced to the ton when shed much rather be in the country and away from a very annoying Marquis.
The man sets off her temper like no other, if there was only a way to avoid the man but alas, he is her brotherinlaws best friend so hell always be a presence.
Unless she can get through this season amp retire to the country as she has no aspirations to wed, Until she meets a gentleman who could possibly change her plans, That is until she overhears a title grabbing “lady” amp her mother plot to trap Tristan into marriage, Will this be the catalyst that has Blythe realizing exactly what those fireworks mean
Tristan, Marquis of Leventhorpe, has led a very controlled life, Something from his childhood haunts him still amp he avoids commitment of any kind, Which is soon tested by the fiery Blythe Culpepper, sisterinlaw to his best friend, Whenever they are together the room vibrates with electricity, A long time enemy threatens Blythes safety which is the catalyst that makes Tristan realize what she means to him,
As one mans stupidity, an enemy amp title grabbing schemers will Blythe amp Tristan realize what they mean to each other Can Tristan let go of the past in order to be happy
Another hit by the extremely talented Collette Cameron that will have you laughing amp crying all at the same time.
Her wit combined with the strength of her characters will draw you in amp not let you go, Looking forward to her next installment to see which Culpepper Miss has me laughing out loud,
Brette: Intentions Gone Astray
What could the Culpepper Misses get into now With Collette Cameron's witty sense of humor and the Culpepper's penchant for getting
into mishaps one can only imagine what troubles Brette finds.
However, I wasn't prepared for the bombshell that threatens everything Brette thought she knew,
I admired the strength and straightforwardness with which Brette handles her situation not so much the way she handles Alexander Hawksworth and their mutual feelings, But I do have to hand it to Alex, "Hawk", in his determination to prove to Brette they belong together and the way he handled his grandmother BRAVO!,
Ms. Cameron continues to come up with delightful ways to torment her characters and grab her readers attention keeping them glued to the story from start to finish,
Wagers Gone Awry.
Brooke Culpepper has been responsible for her sister and three cousins since her father died, Their guardian has left them alone, only insisting on half of the monthly income from the dairy farm, The sum that remains does not allow them to pay for servants, only three now remain faithful retainers who stay for bed and board, All the girls work to supplement their income but they still live a hand to mouth existence, They are not prepared however for the shock of finding that their cousin has wagered and lost their dairy farm, The new owner, expecting to give notice to a tenant farmer is shocked to find five beautiful but desperately impoverished women living in the house, Heath is immediately drawn to Brooke and she to him though what they have in common is a mystery the attraction of opposites perhaps Heath is crass and hates the countryside, whilst Brooke is his polar opposite, at times I found it difficult to connect with the characters hence the dropping of a star.
Schemes Gone Amiss
Sparks flew when Blythe Culpepper first met Tristan, Marquis of Leventhorpe in Bookof the Conundrums of the Misses Culpepper, Blythe has a lively temper and the red headed Tristan loves to goad her, but in London, both find attributes to admire in each other and their feelings begin to deepen.
However, due to past humiliation Tristan keeps Blythe at arms length until a blackguard assaults her virtue and he comes to her rescue, The language in this book is not as coarse as in the first, though passages such as, "Next thing she knew, the perky pair would scramble from her bodice's lace edge and wave a jaunty hello" do seem rather out of place.
Intentions Gone Astray,
Brette Culpepper loves London society unlike her sister and cousins she has no desire to return to the country, From the moment she met Alex in Bookwhen she mistook him for a valet she was dazzled by his looks and getting to know his character in the intervening months since that first meeting, have just deepened those feelings but how does he feel about her There is a lot going on in this book: matchmaking gone awry parsons becoming Earls suspected illegitimacy unexpected fortunes suspicion of murder and attempted abduction.
A fast paced and fun read my favourite of the three Misses Culpepper stories,
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review, The opinion expressed here is my own, .
