WTF Am I Supposed to Eat?: A Dieters Manifesto Reviews

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! WTF am I supposed to eat? An unconventional approach to food, exercise, diets & life!
“I drink green tea every morning and wine every evening. Sometimes I eat nachos with jalapeños at midnight after I’m drunk, and once or twice, I’ve eaten so much cheese I can’t shit for three days.”
If you are looking for a no nonsense approach to life, diet and learning more about out cutting-edge vegetarian cocking then this book is for you. If you, like me, loathe being told what NOT to eat then this book is for you.
C.J. English*** with her background in nutrition and exercise brings over 20 years of experience to the table.
She will cut to the chase, chop up any confusion and deliver tons of fun “what the fuck” moments along the way.
Book is divided into three parts:
❶ How?
❷ What?
❸ Recipes!
A different, at times unconventional, approach to eating. Music to my ears as I have said for years it’s not only about calories and exercise.
C.J. will show you how you can get to eat what matters to you. You might even be surprised to read what C.J. thinks about exercise and how she maintained her weight without exercise for three long years before, during and after surgery.
Facts, answers, ideas and solutions simmered to perfection in a fun an engaging way! I predict a best-seller! 5 stars!
*** C.J. English has a BS in exercise science and community health, an MS in nutrition and natural health, is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine as a health and fitness specialist and holds a certificate in plant based nutrition from e-Cornell. She is quick to point out that although she feels education is extremely important, it was her 20 years of private consulting and teaching at a university where she learned the most about real life health, happiness and weight loss. She credits the hundreds of clients and students she's worked with as the ones who have taught her the most about what really works-which is something different for every body.

So, the answer to the question "WTF am I supposed to eat?" is easy. For me it's plants-mostly plants.
YES YES YES! As a vegan for over a year and a vegetarian for even longer, I am totally on board with this! Foods are either animal based or plant based, so plant based foods are ALL I eat. And I've never felt better. To lose weight, there are certain plant foods I limit that CJ doesn't (I almost never eat nuts when trying to lose) and certain foods I eat as much as I want to (quinoa, brown rice etc) that she doesn't, but overall I loved the book and the message. It was fun, entertaining, and informational. I would definitely recommend this one. -
"To everyone who shares my dream of eating whatever you want and not getting fat, this one is for you."
Have you ever felt that you are destined to be fat forever? Have you tried every diet and weight loss plan known to man and still not had the result you are looking for? I'm sure there are some of you out there that have. After reading Affairytale, I was blown away by the openness and raw writing of CJ English. When I saw that she was releasing a new book on health and eating, I jumped at the chance to check it out. Will this book solve all of your problems and make you skinny by tomorrow? No. But it will inspire you to love yourself more, try something different, and equip you with the tools you need to put a plan in action! And most importantly it will remind you when you do fail, simply try again."Re-train your brain to make better choices using affirmations or statements of motivation that are meaningful and work for you."
WTF am I supposed to eat? is divided into three parts. The what, the how, and then recipes to apply to your new eating plan. I found CJ's writing style to be down to earth, relatable, humorous, and quite informative. She addresses not only the physiological truths of eating healthy but the psychological challenges a person trying to loose weight and be healthy faces every single day. I found it informative and quite inspirational. I thoroughly enjoyed the read instead of feeling bored to tears with an abundance of scientific jargon (as I have experienced in other weight loss books I have read in the past). Instead, it felt like I was chatting with a good friend that has been there, is there, and will be there tomorrow. After reading this book, one thing is made abundantly clear, being healthy is a journey. It isn't always easy, but the result is more than worth it!
Overall, I highly recommend WTF am I supposed to eat? to anyone who wants to work on being healthy and happy. Am I certain I will be able to master all of the techniques and strategies shared in this book? Probably not! But at least I have the tools I need to try. Andifwhen I fail, I know I will be able to try again. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book and I look forward to applying the nuggets of goodness delivered with love by the beautiful and inspirational C.J. English!

5 **kick ass** STARS
I am legit speechless. This books complete rocked my world. The uninhibited and frank approach to weight loss, exercise and a healthy lifestyle was out of this world hilarious, entertaining and so goddamn useful. If you thought about changing your diet, buy this manifesto. CJ is not only painfully honest, but incredibly knowledgable. Over the last month I have read a few pages at a time whenever I felt like someone needed to kick me in the ass, while simultaneously giving me permission to put actual milk (or for you Americans-cream) in my coffee. And even more importantly, that it’s alright to have no willpower, because newsflash -- there is a way to work around it. Yes, I learned shit about eating, but more than that I fell in love with the authors approach and voice. Honestly, if you read one book about what to eat and how to loose weight in your life, make it this one. I do believe contrary to most other books in the genre, this author actually has our best interest at heart.
That’s all I have to say. Thank you, CJ.

5 Awesome Stars!
Stop what you're doing right now, go on Amazon and order this book on PB! You won't regret it. This book should be on every kitchen counter, on every night stand and on every coffee table!
I loved C.J. from the moment I first read Affairytale, there was something about her personality on the pages that I was drawn too. When I realized she wrote a health book I was over the moon excited. Where has this book been all my life! Growing up I think I've tried every diet...South Beach, Atkins, Makers, Smoothie and yes they all worked...for a time and then I was once again battling the same weight I had initially taken off and then some.
WTF Am I Supposed to Eat put such a big smile on my face because it's all about not restricting yourself. So many books I've read are all about what foods they can take away from me Or this rule that I must follow or else. All these rules rules rules drive me nuts and they drive me to eat more cause I'm so stressed about what they're telling me! But CJ understands. She gets it.
CJ won't put you on a diet. She doesn't tell you to stop eating fruits (which is beyond ridiculous). Actually she'll tell you (something along the lines of) you can eat whatever you want but you must know your body. You must know that if you eat cookies and cakes all day that ass will be fat. Eat more greens and you'll be healthier. Can you still drink alcohol? Should you stop eating at 6pm? She challenges some of the facts that are imbedded in us from a young age, like what's really the most important meal of the day? And she makes you think. I seriously felt like I had a friend sitting me down and telling me how to take care of myself and to be a better me. Being healthy shouldn't be hard, it's actually doable, with a little effort anyone can be what they want to be.
I loved this book and the delicious, easy to make recipes are so good for getting anyone started in the right direction. WTF challenges you to know you. Let's face it, these generalized diets don't work because everyone is a unique individual. You don't have to restrict yourself and workout like a maniac to be a healthier you. Give this book a try. If you've done it all and you don't know what else to do then look no further! It's refreshing, it's funny, it's relatable and it'll challenge your way of thinking.
"The key to weight loss is figuring out what works for you."
It's taken me some time, but after doing my "Sher" research, I've figured out what works for me.
For example:
1. I can't eat too late at night.
2. I don't eat red meat a few days a week (I give my intestines a much needed break)
3. I eat more organically whole foods and good carbs (like sweet potatoes, etc)
4. I eat as much fruits and vegetables I want, IDGAF about the sugars in a apple or peach! If God made it I'm eating it.
5. I drink lots of water and wine at night (no sodas)
6. I indulge every once in awhile. Whenever I crave a burger, cake or pasta I eat it, but that's once in a while. And I'm the best me I've ever been! I have curves that aren't going anywhere anytime soon but I love the way I look and I love how I feel!
I highly recommend this book for anyone that's on the hunt for a weight loss plan that will work for them. I plan on re-reading this book over and over again:) -
This has got the be one of the most unconventional diet but more way of life eating books I've ever read. If that's what you want I'd definitely pick this bad boy right up. It is enlightening and fun to read, easy to understand and tells you exactly what you need to know if your wanting to go along the vegetarian way of eating.
This is a plant based diet that makes you think About what YOU are putting in your mouth and if nothing else it sure has made me think about food in a different light. CJ definitely knows her stuff, she has researched and knows the information on what it is doing to your body and how that effects your thoughts, how active you are and why you get the aches and pains you do. But it also explains that it's your choice how you change the choices you put in your mouth.
Above all this is a book on healthy eating, on changing how you think about food, and how to implement it. Also that you SHOULD drink lots of wine (if you so please) haha ok then noted..
I enjoyed this is a lot of it though some parts not so much. That said that's probably me more so than what's said. I love exercise and I love food, and this isn't the book for exercise lovers. I will though definitely be changing my diet come January. I'll be eating more plants for sure and taking on board what CJ has said. And so I'll definitely be coming back to this and re-hashing things to get it right.
Things I really liked
* The juices and the fasting that's it's ok to do that at times but with clear guidance..
* To eat breakfast when I'm ready... bonus (some mornings I just can't stomach it and that's ok as well) phew...
* The recipes look delicious, I have yet to try them but they look and sound sooo yummy. So I'm going to go shopping asap to try some.
* And lastly to NOT eat anything after 6! Yeh I knew this really but CJ explained it in depth and now I get it... bingo!!
So go ahead give it a shot... and start 2017 with a bang by giving this book a shot now.
Enjoy Xo

A delicious revelation about how one can be healthy and loose weight without having to step foot inside a gym. This book is like having a heart to heart with a friend about nutrition. I've had so much fun reading about new ways to plan for my meals and learning tricks about how to stick with a healthy weight loss plan that works for me. I loved it, I am planning on re-reading this book several times, if not forever.

I love to eat, I have been a slave to chocolate, and any form of sweets since I was a little girl. As an adult I've had to kill myself at the gym in order to maintain a healthy weight, and continue to still be able to eat the sweets I love so much. But in the back of my head I knew I was going about the nutrition part all wrong, and that I needed a better plan. Reading this book has literally blown my mind. WTF Am I Suppose To Eat has given me the exact tools I needed.
First, let me tell you that I love C.J English's writing style. She is honest and straightforward , she doesn't try to impress the reader with fancy, and complicated nutritional terms, or tries to push her believes down to anyone's throat. You learn about her struggles and her vulnerabilities with food and exercise, as she shares not only her knowledge, but also her experience, and she does it in a fun, and easy to understand way.
Each chapter has the information and tools that will help YOU create a nutrition game plan, that will work for you specifically. Like the book says; forget about asking people what diet worked for them, what pills, or what foods they tried in order to loose weight. Everyone is different, we all have different lifestyles and food tastes, so we need to personalize our diet plans to our specific needs. The good news is, that it is easier than we think, and WTF Am I Suppose To Eat is here to help in an effective way.
I will continue with my workout routines, but I am now armed with tricks and the knowledge that will help me eat in a much healthier way, without having to completely sacrifice eating sweets or drinking wine.
I highly recommend, I repeat... I highly recommend, EVERYONE to read this book. Achieving a healthy weight is not as hard as we think. Buy and read this book, make a commitment with yourself, create a personalized game plan, be organized and plan your meals, because you know what? You will get a cheat day; one day out of the week where you can go ahead and eat that slice of chocolate cake, and still loose weight and be healthy.
Thank you so much to author C.J English for creating this book. I will buy it for my friends, and carry it in my purse as a nutritional, and inspirational food bible. And thanks for adding all the delicious recipes at the end of the book, I cant wait to try them.

I have tried countless diets in the past with decent success only to gain back the weight when I got too comfortable. I always like reading the latest info about better eating, especially now since I have experienced the before, during and after affects of cancer. So when C.J. English was offering ARCs for this book, I just had to raise my hand and wave it from side to side, shouting, "Me! Please pick me!"
I knew I would love reading this within the first page when she said the book was filled with graphic language, mature subject matter, and dry, sarcastic, WTF humor. I live for this type of sense of humor, since I too share the same way of thinking and writing. C.J. had me laughing, but more importantly, had me questioning what it is I want out of this vessel I call my body.
Since being diagnosed with thyroid cancer and having a full thyroidectomy, I have struggled with my weight. My new life consists of daily doses of thyroid hormones, trying not to have anxiety and panic attacks and desperately trying to keep my eyes open. I'm constantly tired, get frequent headaches, feel like a slug and overall, want to hibernate under the covers for the rest of my days. But, I have three kids and sporting events and a husband who thinks dinner needs to come in the way of a four course meal preferably every night. There's never a dull moment in my chaotic life, and although I wouldn't change a damn thing, there are days I'd like to invest in me time. And my me time means learning to cope with my "new self" and getting my health under control. WTF Am I Supposed To Eat is a great place to start. C.J. offers a common sense outlook on fueling the body and backs it up with respectable resources. The premise of this book is easy to follow and I think easy to administer into daily life. The recipes given at the end of the book sound delicious and I can't wait to try them.
I really found this book to not only be enjoyable to read but super informative. I am excited to have been given the opportunity to read this book in an exchange for a review. I'm looking forward to slowly starting to implement this lifestyle in hopes of easing the symptoms of my thyroid issues and in my quest to finding a healthier version of me. -
Yes, you can have your wine and still lose weight! As a vegetarian for many years, I was excited to read this witty but very informative book that seemed right up my alley. If you have been looking for an easy, very down-to-earth way to eat healthier and maybe lose some weight in the process, then this book is a must-read. Filled with THE yummiest, easiest recipes, 'WTF Am I Supposed to Eat?' offers a common-sense, practical approach to a more delicious and healthier way of life.
I hate to use the word "diet" but trust me, you will definitely lose weight by following even just a few of the fantastic tips in this book. I have followed a modified version of the food plans in this book for most of my adult life and have maintained the same weight for many years. You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to read this book but if you have been thinking about it, this book will give you the background and the confidence boost to try.
I loved this book because not only does the author explain why certain foods are good for you, she gives you super-easy recipes that are quick and satisfying. I also love her philosophy that everything is okay in moderation. You love red wine? It's okay! You can still keep your wine but also eat healthy the rest of the time (although I think a glass of red wine is good for everyone!) I also appreciated the variety of foods and the philosophy that not every diet plan is perfect for everybody,
Find what's right for you and you will be more likely to stick with it, not as a "diet" but as a way of life. And you will feel better, too! I am looking forward to getting this book in paperback to give as gifts and for my own kitchen.

I started reading this as I sat down to dinner with a frozen pizza and a glass of wine.
Up until last year when my life turned upside (again), I had been very conscious of my eating habits. I watched my portion control, stayed away from processed foods and gluten (for the most part) and ate quite a few veggies. Then life happened.
As well, After being a stay-at-home mom and working part-time for 17 years, I returned working full-time. Getting home at 6:30 pm every evening does not lend itself to healthy eating. UNLESS YOU PREPARE. And I have not been prepared.
Several things happened... I am always tired, I feel bloated and I've gained weight. I know I feel better when I eat "healthy" and I know what that looks like for me. But I always wondered if what made me feel better (and look better) was actually healthy or good for me.
Reading WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT, provided me with validation, knowledge, and tools. I grew up thinking if I didn't clear my plate, if I didn't eat enough meat along with my veggies and a starch, I would get sick. Well, let me say, I am 5'0 and survived. But I have alway struggled with my weight. I am the picture of a yo-yo dieter (or weight gainer/loser). What I liked so much about this book, was that its focus isn't on LOSING weight. But on being HEALTHY. Sure, losing weight is mentioned, but it isn't the focus. Which for me is key, because when I decided to take control of my life last time, it was about being healthy and feeling good, which consequently caused the pounds to drop.
CJ English told me it's okay to only eat breakfast when I'M HUNGRY -- which for me is about 4 hours after I wake up. She explained that I don't need as much protein as I have been trained to believe, which is a relief because I enjoy just having veggies for a meal. I always had a rule that I didn't eat after 7pm. I heard somewhere (probably Oprah) that you shouldn't. Welp, guess what? CJ speaks on that too.
AND THE RECIPES! OMG, the smoothies are so freaking good! My boss just bought a ninja to keep in our kitchen for us. We have frozen fruit and some other items to use, too. When I made the recipe for the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Banana Smoothie, I had 3 grown women moaning. I am sure the salesmen wondered, WTF we were doing?
This book is hilarious, smart and talks TO you, not AT you. It helps you decide what is best for you and how to maintain balance in your life. I plan on gifting this book to each of the ladies in my office (most of whom are health conscious and exercise regularly). I can't wait to share recipes with them and wine. DON'T FORGET THE WINE!

They say things happen for a reason and all I can say is that this book could not have arrived at a better time for me. Week 2 out of 6 of wearing a moon boot and I was terrified at how much weight I was going to gain whilst being immobile. I was thinking of how I was going to modify my diet to minimise the inevitable weight gain coming my way. Then the wonderful CJ English was offering ARC's, I submitted my request and was very fortunate to receive one.
Weight loss and nutrition are always hot topics and there is a new diet or miracle weight loss solution that we are being bombarded with on a daily basis - so what makes this book different. Well because it's not a diet or a fad, it's not a magic bullet - it's a way of life and the degree to which you apply it is how much sustained weight loss you will achieve.
WTF am I supposed to eat was a very inspirational and informative read for me. I loved the conversational tone and the simplicity in which the facts were presented. I have a greater understand of the humble calorie and how your body uses it depending on what type of calorie it is.
It brought about a lot of self awareness and I've discovered what I have been doing wrong all these years. Effectively self sabotaging without even realising I was doing it.
There are some great recipes in the book as well that are simple and easy to introduce into your meal plan rotation.
If you're looking for something completely different in amongst the plethora of diet and nutrition books you need to give this book a chance. You'll be very pleasantly surprised and I believe that there is something that will resonate with every reader.
Thank you Ms English and I wish you every success with this book because it is certainly well deserved. -
This is a great first read for anyone who's looking to make their lives better through healthier eating and aren't sure where to begin. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, though I eat many vegan or vegetarian meals on a daily basis. I do eat meat, but my diet is still primarily plant based and about 99% organic and have for the past several years which I've noticed significant health benefits and improvements.
CJ provides some great resources and information for beginners who aren't sure about many of the conflicting pieces the health industry says about food and health. This was well written and I really enjoyed her sassy personality to help tone down the monotony of how usually health books can read and feel.
As she states, CJ is not a doctor and that this is her manifesto of what has worked for her and her clients. Change, even just wanting to look and feel better in our own skin, is not always easy for everyone. However, CJ presents options where anyone can start the gradual shift to a better life. It's all a matter of perspective and CJ has presented a well-rounded one very nicely for those who are not familiar with this subject.
I got an ARC from the author for an honest review. -
I couldn't put this book down...sounds weird because it's a "diet book". I expected to read this alongside one of the other books I'm reading - a page or two here and there. But once I started I stopped reading everything else and finished this in a matter of days. There is something about CJ's writing style that is very conversational in nature. It makes it feel like she is actually talking to you.
But it wasn't just about her writing style. It was also about the content. What she says really makes sense. She doesn't throw a million quotes and facts from scientific journals at you. She mostly writes about her experience and what works for her, and then she backs it up with evidence and research but not in an annoying, boring way.
Here are some things that stood out to me after reading this book:
-You really don't need to eat meat to be healthy. She debunks the protein craze. Eat mostly plants. Going to try to adopt this mindset for many reasons (the environment, the animals, my health, etc.)
-Don't eat late at night. So true for me personally.
-Indulge once in a while. Be realistic. You will go out for happy hour once in a while with your friends and eat absolute crap.
-Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. Lunch is. The importance of breakfast is another thing people overemphasize in our culture. Love this because I am never hungry really early in the morning and I've been forcing myself to eat all these years.
-She talks about how she likes being skinny more than she likes overeating. My new mantra.
-You are unique. Find what works best for you. Cookie cutter diets won't work for everyone.
I could go on but I won't. Bottom line, I loved it. It's not your average diet book.
Eat mostly plants. And drink wine :). -
The best thing about following authors in Instagram is being updated to the latest releases, book news, giveaways and advance copies. When C.J. English posted that she needs reviewers for her new book WTF Am I Supposed to Eat?, I eagerly signed up for it. I have mentioned in my previous posts that ARC (advance reader's copy) is just music to my ears. I have this compulsion to just want to grab all ARC's if I can help it. And I was also curious to know what am I supposed to eat?
I was never worried about my weight until I've reached my thirties. I have always been thin. In my high school and college years, people would always tell me to eat more so I would not be blown by the wind. But everything started to change when I went to work in Manila. Working night shifts just fueled my love for food and eating out. When you are working nights, sleeping during the day could never compensate for the quality of sleep at night. Even if I sleep for 10 straight hours during the day, I would still fell like I have not slept enough. And when you feel tired, you compensate for eating more. And that's when my weight started to move. My midsection started to widen.
Currently, I have a hard time making my abdomen flatter. My preferred weight is 110 lbs. With my height, my BMI (body mass index) is 128 lbs. The last time I weighed, I was around 120. I am 10 lbs. over the weight I want. I want to go back to 110. So, reading all about what I need to know about food from this book is a great help. I have always loved vegetables and fish over pork and beef. If I could, I would eat vegetables and fruits everyday but like the author said, we can't always do that. I like walking but have not been able to do it a lot lately. I do walk if I get the chance but it's not a conscious effort. I also skip breakfast. I am not a morning person and I don't really like breakfast. It's good to know that it's not as important as it was made out to be.
I really love this book. It shot down the most popular myths about eating healthy and dieting. I also love that it is as blunt and as funny. Reading it was never boring. Facts were laid out straight with no danger of misunderstanding. It even dared the reader to check them out for validity. The way it was written just made it more convincing and it felt like I had a one-one weight-loss consulting session with Miss English.
As the title of this book says -a manifesto, we should all follow that. This book should be our guide to eating healthy. In fact, I have started telling people about what I read here. About not needing protein, drinking milk and walking. All we need are vegetables and fruits. Tea in the morning and red wine at night.
A friend of mine commented on a recent photo and pointed out that I am thinner. I realized I am, though I still need to work more on getting my waist smaller. I credited the positive change to eating pomelo a lot. Like with every meal. We have a friend who has pomelo trees overbearing with fruits in their backyard in the province. When we visited, we took about half a sack of those mouth-watering and juicy fruits.
I give this book five cups of tea and five glasses of red wine. I want to be a part of this movement of eating healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I want to be able to travel more and try new things. Go on more adventures like rappelling down caves, jumping from waterfalls, sky-diving and more.
I am glad to know that my diet has not been that bad. Not needing any meat at all is a great thing. I can live without them. On the other hand, I love pastries and I want to find out how to make them healthy. I am learning to bake and I always hate putting butter when I am baking. Hopefully, C.J. will come up with a book all about healthy desserts, cakes, ice cream and cupcakes.
For all those who have been battling weight and body issues like forever, read this book. This will enlighten you. The best thing about this book is that it tells you what would best work for you. You can tailor your own way to lose that unwanted weight. Whatever works for you. This book will just point you the way and tell you what your body needs to facilitate slimming down in your own pace and in your own terms.
Thank you again C.J. English for the copy. We can get started on this healthy revolution. Lead the way!

I honestly cannot believe how fast I read this! Dieting books aren't exactly my thing. I love alllll the foods!! Yet, I couldn't stop reading it because for one, it's hilariously witty. I laughed so much during this read it's a sin. She has such a way with words. Secondly, everything she's saying is broken down and supported with some factual ass shit. Most of it is basic information that you already kind of know just in more depth so you understand it better. All that information you keep locked up in the back of your mind when you're eating because well, who wants to think about this stuff when you're scarfing down pizza? Not me! But it's good to remember and I'd highly recommend highlighting so many things or keeping a notepad handy to take notes because she basically tells you to figure out what's best for you. She doesn't tell you to work out or eat this or that or how much.. just to listen to your own body. Mainly, drink wine(hello? That's a winner right there) SOLD! , green tea, and eat more plants! She does throw in some recipes at the end and they're all things I'd actually eat. I'm definitely going to be trying them out!

While I don't hold to a vegetarian lifestyle, this book was still a very good and informative read. It reinforced a lot of 'healthy eating' principles that I try to adhere to. I recommend this to anyone who is overwhelmed by the amount of 'diets' out there, but who don't really want to follow a strict regime. It reinforced to me staying away from packaged foods, sugar[processed], and wheat/gluten/flour. I didn't necessarily agree with everything, but it was a fun read.
BTW, if you're offended by swearing, this book is not for you. -
Read this gem in 24 hours. I have been leaning towards being a vegetarian for a while now. Colon cancer runs in my family, and I know the healthiest route for me is to eliminate meat and dairy products. This book is great in that she suggests the healthiest way of eating is "mostly" plant based. She also didn't tell me to quit drinking. Hallelujah! I highlighted so many passages in this book. She cusses like a sailor and talks a lot about sex. Seems like a win win for me. ;-)

I can't say enough good things about this book. C.J. shoots from the hip, she likes being skinny & feeling good about herself.
If you do too...read this!
With a nod towards a vegetarian diet, I had no problem tweaking a few of my poor eating habits to adapt to her suggestions (eat plants, drink wine) what could be more straight forward, and I still get to have a rather large glass of Malbec (or two) most evenings.
Thank you so much for this godsend advice in a world where we are constantly bombarded with conflicting advice. C.J. keeps it simple and reminds us of what our bodies are genetically designed to eat, oh and to go have a glass of wine if you feel like one.

While this manifesto has a great positive message told with humor and realness, I am afraid this book is not for me. The plan that it details would not work for my family. I will try the recipes in the back of the book, as I may be able to pass some of them by my family. I loved the different descriptions of food and what I should be on the look out for. I have already taken steps to cut sugars, and processed foods out of my and my families life.
What didn't work for me was; the feeling I was being pushed toward veganism, juicing, and the constant verbiage about being skinny. There was so much talk about wanting to be skinny, look skinny, skinny this or skinny that. I want to be healthy, nothing more. If along my journey I become skinny; great. If not as long as I am healthy is what matters most to me.
I think this book is a perfect addition to anyone that is trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle, and for those that may be considering living a plant based lifestyle.
This book was provided by the author, but in no way influenced this review. -
First let me say that I was beyond excited to receive an ARC of this book! CJ's no nonsense way of making you cut through your own excuses you tell yourself daily was my favorite thing. She is relatable, she is spunky and she delivers it perfectly in this part manifesto part cookbook. It made me look at my crazy eating habits in a new light. Killing myself on fad diets is out, making the right decisions for me and my body is in. Read this book. You will not regret it.

A funny, well-written, informative, helpful book. I enjoyed it and got some great health tips from it. I loved the conversational tone and raw humor throughout. Lots of great info on the best things to eat, but one of my biggest takeaways was the walking for 80 minutes tip. You don't have to exercise like crazy! Crazy exercise and insane eating regimens aren't sustainable anyway. This books helps you understand that diet and exercise doesn't have to be hard.

I can't think of a better guide or nonfiction book in this genre that tells it like it is. WTF am I Supposed to Eat by C.J. English is one brilliant book. Her writing is clear, precise, and informative. She clearly provides the content readers need to know as well as the perspective on both sides of the issue. With so many telling us what is good to eat and what isn't, it's better to hear it from someone who has tried it all and experimented in finding what works. Researched and personally lived, C.J. English shows readers what to eat and what not to eat. I found this book of hers to be refreshing. It is written in a way that engages the audience. I want to know more. C.J. English starts off by what her book is and isn't. She then dips into the bad and good. Next, she had me exploring every page. A guided tour and recipes inside...I couldn't believe how much was written and provided to me. This is definitely a great book that everyone needs to read. The content had factual information backing it up...and this inspired me even further. I want to eat healthy and loose weight. It's difficult and over whelming to search through all the stuff that's out there on the market. However, with WTF am I Supposed to Eat, I can easily weave through everything. Educational and well-told. Overall, I highly recommend it to all.
