In response to a petition of the Boston and Providence Railroad Company, the County Commissioners gave several hearings in the matter of a bridge over that railroad on River street, and, by a decree dated October,, authorized said Company to build a bridge in accordance with plans on filetheir office.
Subsequently the Select men, at the request Of the Officers of the railroad, consulted with them In relation to the expense of said bridge, the rail road company asking the town to assume all grade damages and expense Of building retaining wall on River street.
The Selectmen refused to assume any part Of the expense on behalf the town, and the railroad company have applied to the Superior Court to appoint a commission to determine by whom the cost of said bridge and approaches, and any' other expense connected therewith, shall be paid.
