I was hooked from the beginning.
He was passionate, and captivating, and he wanted me.
For two months.
I couldn’t turn away from our connection.
I wanted more, needed more, and I was close to risking everything to stay in his arms.
I didn’t realize there were circumstances lurking around the corner ready to tear us apart.
Make Me Yours (The Stone Trilogy, #1) Reviews
-
I had this book (series) on my kindle since forever - I found it a long time ago on my quest of "what to read after FSOG" - so I read the now "older" version with the stone title.
Not sure what changed from there to the new one but this series is a contradiction from one page to the next. There was so much strange stuff going on that it was not only enough for more books but honestly TOO MUCH for one series.
I have never read a series where so much of similar stuff happened to the leading characters.
The whole series is like a huge mix match / best of-of all things I have read a while ago ... I was actually starting to puzzle different books together - like when the part with the race team came I was waiting to hear him say "I race you" just to add K. Bromberg's Driven to the list ...
It was over the top from beginning to end ... and here comes the surprise -
I could not put the book down ...
from what you read here so far you might think that I would end in a DNF with this one - yet I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN .. I was sort of almost annoyed with myself but #shrugs ... I liked it ... and I am unable to explain it ... Inbetween everything there was still something that grabbed my attention and stuck ... - so debating forward and backward with myself I go with 3 stars and will leave it up to you to make up your mind about this ...

This story was a fantastic read, and I'm looking forward to continuing with the next book. Mallory basically lives a routine life until she meets Alex who offers her a great opportunity. A two month affair before he's set to go back home. He doesn't reveal the reasons why he can't stay with her, and that tears at me. During the story, I feel bad for Mallory because Alex doesn't choose to stay. They divulge in a sensual dom/sub relationship during their time together. While she's dating Alex, there are threats to her wellbeing, and you don't find out what's going on until the end. I tell you what though, I was a bit surprised. It wasn't the person I assumed. Such a great twist.

This was my first read by Renee Harless.
When I first started, I was a little afraid that it was going to take on too many similar traits to 50 Shades, but thankfully it did not!!
Mellony meets Alex one night when she is supposed to be out with friends at a club. She immediately writes him off after he seems more interested in the waitress than her, even though he invited her to join him in the VIP area. After a few weeks, they happen to meet again. Discussions lead to the fact that he is only in town for 2 months and he would like to spend those 2 months with Mellony. After some thought Mellony agrees. During their 2 months together...things are nearly perfect, with a handful of bumps in the road. However, there are outside forces now sending Mellony threatening messages. Who's behind them? Is it in connection with Alex? Is it directly related to Mellony? What will happen when the 2 months with Alex is over? Will the threat go away?
Renee did a good job of building up the characters, however, this series is from one POV. In doing this, I believe it helped to keep some of the secrets Alex was keeping from Mellony regarding who he is.
So far this series is a solid 4 stars. -
Stone Shattered by Renee Harless is about the billionaire Alex and his tumultuous affair with Mallory. Even though they agreed it would only be two months, they both give it their all and are shattered as the two months draw to an end.
The sex scenes in this book are hot, and the BDSM is well-described. I love how Mallory can submit to Alex and yet remain a non-submissive person in other situations like at her work.
I love how Renee Harless was able to create such a vast world of characters where each have their own minds and stories. Especially Alex’ sister was a doll, and I wanted to read more about her. Even his mother had a voice that exactly matched what I expected of a British mother.
The suspense wasn’t subtle, but rather ‘in your face’.
I was given the book freely by the author for an honest review, but I enjoyed the read. It may be a billionaire story, but it’s one of a kind because of the suspense and because Alex is not a troubled man with a difficult childhood. He’s just a complex character. Mallory doesn’t drop everything for him and keeps her mind and opinions. At least most of the time.
So yes, I would recommend this book if you enjoy the genre and are looking for a different uptake on it. I’m looking forward to part two. -
I was given a copy of this book by the author to give my honest review and I really glad she did. I won't go into detail about the book because others have already done that, but I will say that it was written in the first person of Mallory Winston. The plot was captivating and the sex scenes were steamy. I enjoyed the descriptive BDSM scenes immensely. I thought that the fact that Mallory could be a submissive to Alex, but she could still be strong in her job as an advertising executive was great. Alex is very mysterious about his life in England, but I was a little taken aback because a goggle search would have given up some information on him if Mallory had thought about it. I guess she was hoping that he would open up to her instead of being covert.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and have already started the second book in the series. Keep in mind this is NOT a standalone book and there is a cliffhanger. If you are a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey, you will probably enjoy this. The only difference is that the hero did not have a troubled upbringing. -
Stone Shattered (The Stone Book 1)
Written by Renee Harless
Genre: Erotic Romance
Mallory Winston is an up and coming marketing junior executive. She is kind of in a funk with her life and just not really meshing well with that of her two roommates Mika and Madison. Alex Stone is a billionaire (unbeknownst to Mallory), He is an in the states to work on some research at the local hospital in Maryland. Stone Shattered is the first book that tells about the meeting that Mallory and Alex have. Basically… it has all the same formula as 50 shades of Gray, but with better writing. They meet, they agree to a short term relationship (or affair) while Alex is still in the states. Then it will be over at the end of July when he travels back to England.
I felt that this was a good book. I did get a strong sense of deja vu reading it though having read 50 shades, this seemed very similar. The writing was much better though. There was character development and the story flowed fairly well. The suspense was nice, I do have to say that I never quite figured out who was doing what until it was on you. So that was the biggest variation from this book to the 50 shades one.
I personally didn’t feel that Mallory was a very strong person. She had her moments but she was way too easily manipulated and honestly I had a hard time relating to her very much. There is a cliffhanger on the story, but I was expecting that to come. Overall, I think that this was a good start and I feel that the author was able to get me to invest enough feeling to want to continue with the series.
I received a copy of this book from the publiser -
The blurb to this novel represented a romance one; therefore, a romance novel is what I thought I was getting. Not so! I missed the emotional attachment between Alex and Mallory before they made love. I would classify this as erotica because Renee Harless focused on the BDSM aspect of their relationship. Said book read exactly like Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. To me, the plots were the same as were the twists and turns. I cannot respect a writer that copies an author's work in hopes of profiting off it. Needless to say, I will not be investing in the rest of the trilogy.
The single difference to the plots was the hospital scene, and that was the only place where I felt a hint of romance. A budding connection between Mallory and Dr. Sexy? -
Make Me Yours is book 1 in the Stone Trilogy by Renee Harless. It is erotica/ bdsm . It has a nice storyline with realistic characters.
Alex a sexy wealthy man from England who only wants Mallory!
Mallory loves her job in the fashion business.
Alex teaches Mallory a few things. They can't stop thinking about one another.
This book has some heat to it, you may need a fan or a bucket of ice dumped on you to cool off!
5 stars.
" I'm not sure, but you seem to be worth knowing."
"Get out of here, Mallory! Run to Vegas and marry that good-looking piece of meat tonight!" -
I loved Mallory in this story as she was written as a relatable character. She was unsure of herself, lacked confidence and had others essentially making decisions for her. However once she meets Alex Stone her life changes in a whirlwind. While I wanted to really dislike him at times he helped her gain confidence and begin making her own life decisions. Of course there is lots of steamy sex, drama, suspense and turmoil as well. The characters and the story really sucked me in and I cannot wait to find out what happens next to them.
-
This was way too much like FSoG. Almost to the "T" with the romantic plot. The Author even uses wording from the book.
BUT this Author is 1000% better than the FS books!
Once I got past the comparison, it was an okay read. The side plot needed to be more there. It was mentioned briefly then not again until the last bit of the book. And while the villain didn't shock me, there was a missed opportunity to make the book more...more than their relations and what positions and places they could. -
The beginning of this series has several things going on that kept me on my toes. Loved Mallory's journey in love, growth, confidence and self esteem. She had quite the time between her love interest, someone trying to scare or kill her and having back stabbing friends. Not sure I cared for Alex nor do I consider him to be a dominate but will certainly keep going with this series and see where it leads.
-
I’m in two minds about this read. For me, it felt as though there were too many 50 Shades references. It was almost like watching the film.
It started with the present and the relayed prior 5 months. No spoiling of contents but unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. There were touches of BDSM but also many loving endearments of “my love”, “my darling girl”. It was like soft hard core mixed with gentle emotions. A bit of a twist then all is well! -
Wow so good
Mallory goes to the club with her friends she doesn’t plan running into a hot guy named Alex and she doesn’t possibly imagine herself getting tied into a fling with Alex while he’s in the states. Will Mallory fall for Alex? And who is stalking sweet Mallory? Wow so many twists & turns so good can’t wait to read more! -
The first book of the series draws you in, the chemistry between alex and mal has you on the edge of your seat.
The love lust and heartbreak is a page turner and one I couldn't put down.
Can't wait to see what happens, I just hope there love can survive it.
Renee is a new author to me but she's slowly becoming one of my favorites❤ -
Alex and Mallory's story starts in this first book of the Stone trilogy. A roller coaster ride of emotions throughout this story and lots of hot and steamy scenes. Can't wait to see how this all continues!!
-
Oh god!!!. This one was inntriguing, can't wait for the next one. We have amazing characters and the situations is to die for as is full of turns. Love how the characters are built and what they gave to the story it will have you reading non stop. Definitely a series that I have to see how it ends.
-
Loved it. I loved that Mallory stood up for herself and didn't let stone walk all over her. Stone is one of those Alphas that has you swooning one page and aggravated the next.
-
Loving it
This is my first book and series by Renee and I have to say I am very impressed and I am loving the alpha dominant male suspense story this is. Can’t wait for more. -
Omg what a ride could not put this down u think you have things figured out then bam book 2 just blows ya mind I read the whole series in two days it's been a while since I couldn't but a book down
-
Edge of your seat story! Love Mallory and Alex but their time together is so short but there is a second book so maybe?
-
Mysterious and a little choppy.
-
This was a nice start to the series. The ending left be wanting more so I’ll definitely be checking out the other books in the series.

Free book for honest review. juliesbookreview.blogspot.com
I was given this book for an honest review.
Malory Winston is a smart, attractive girl with the self-
esteem of a wallflower. She prefers a quiet evening with a
good book over a boisterous drunken evening at a club. Being
the good friend that she is, she allows her friends Mika and
Madison to drag her off to the local club Lucky 21. Where
they ditch her and she is left to find her own way home. She
meets super sexy Alex Stone, while sitting at the bar alone and
contemplating her choice in best friends. He convinces her to
stay a while, but she soon becomes annoyed with all the female
attention he is receiving and sneaks off. Fortunately for her
Alex is enamored with her and seeks her out, turning the city
upside down to find her…and find her he does. They begin a
whirlwind two-month affair (he will only be in the U.S. for that
long), which involves a D/s relationship and a stalker. He
brings out her strong sexually submissive side that she didn’t
realize existed. Despite her best efforts, she falls hopelessly in
love with him. He is the perfect “D” to her “s”. He knows
everything about her, but she knows little about him, because
he is hiding something. She hopes with time he will confide in
her and maybe love her enough stay.
When he leaves her to return to England, she is
devastated by the loss. Although she knew their time is short,
she still had hope that he would change his mind. He leaves
her with a shattered heart, still in danger from her stalker, and
without an answer to what he was hiding. The book does not
end HEA, but it does end with a cliffhanger.
This book is written in first person, which is neither
good nor bad. However, it usually makes it hard for me to
identify with the characters. When I read a book I want to get
lost in the story and “I, I, I” instead of “she, she, she” makes
that difficult for me. That being said, I am glad I decided look
past my “first person phobia” and stick with this story. It is an
intriguing read, with real life characters, hot and steamy
BDSM/sex scenes, and real raw emotion. Yes, the author
made me cry, for which she was awarded bonus points.
Mallory, although submissive, is strong and it’s
awesome when she realizes just how strong. I am not sure how
I feel about Alex Stone. He is one of those heroes you love
and hate equally. One moment he is sweet and loving and a
total bastard the next. It is my hope that he redeems himself in
book two and that both characters find their happily ever after.
If you are an FSOG fan you will like this book. If you
are not a fan, which I am not, but like BDSM themes, you
should give this book a try. I love books with a
BDSM/dominant/alpha male element as long as the hero is not
abusive. Yes, Alex Stone tracks Mallory down, pushes his way
into her life, and dominates her on a regular basis. He does not
abuse his “power” and is actually impressed when Mallory
stands-up for herself. It’s all purely consensual (except the
whole tracking thing, but she’s happy he found her). Alex
Stone isn’t “stalkerish” like FSOG’s CG, actually takes “no”
for an answer, and will admit when he is wrong, even though
he isn’t happy about it. Fingers crossed for an HEA in book
two.
Four Stars. Cheers for the D/s, the cliffhanger, and my
tears!

Beautiful and Captivating Book!
I loved this book.It was equally beautiful and heartbreaking. I was pulled in from the very beginning. Mallory was easy to fall in love with. I liked Alex but at times I didn't know whether I wanted to swoon or punch him. The chemistry between them was incredible and their love scenes were always so hot! I loved the twist and suspense that was in this story. It does end in a cliffhanger that had me wanting more and I can't wait to read the second one. I would Definitely recommend this book! -
3.5 sexy stars. A rich controlling man. A mostly inexperienced, insecure girl. Am arrangement for kinky sex that turns into more, despite best efforts. Yes, the plot probably sounds very familiar. But this one is much better written than the 'shady' one. And there are some other major differences. I won't tell you but it's definitely worth the read to find out.
Once the story got moving, I really enjoyed this book and am excited to get started on book 2. This author does an awesome job writing sex & emotions (there was a lot of both). The story has mystery, intrigue and twists. Be warned: you won't get all the answers in book 1 but I knew that going in so it didn't bother me.
There were a couple of reasons I didn't give it a 4 star or higher. I struggled with it in the first several chapters. It felt heavy on the telling style where there is more straight narrative dictating what is happening and less of a natural flow of the story through character interactions. Once Alex and Mallory met the formality of their communication style annoyed me (not the Mr/ Ms thing but how they worded everything like they were speaking to to Queen and on best behavior). Yes, I get that he's English but it just felt off to me. And another small thing but it bothered me was the overuse of irrelevant details and the repetitive use of certain phrases. For example every time Mal cried (which was a lot) she always cried a lone tear first.
Also, contrary to what most readers seemed to feel (based on other reviews) I did not read Mallory as this really strong person outside the bedroom. She has low self esteem and lets everyone walk all over her. She doesn't address issues head on (roommates, Stephanie, Seth) or take charge of situations. She's really just existing and seems afraid to really live life before Alex. Anytime I'm reading a D/s story it bothers me when the female seems weak. I prefer her to have a backbone but she just really loves to give away her power in the bedroom. Thankfully, she does start to develop some spine with Alex as the story progresses but she has a way to go as shown with the the way she handles reuniting with her roommate toward the end.
That might sound like a lot of negatives but really they are mostly style preferences that impacted my star rating but not my excitement about the book. The story was really great! I was sucked into the plot, loved the mystery and twists and I am moving right into book 2. I can't wait to see Alex come to his senses and I'm very intrigued about what I expect to be a big reveal from Mr. Stone. -
Stone Shattered is the story of Mallory Winston and Alex Stone, also deliciously known as Ms. Winston and Mr. Stone. Mallory is an ad executive who feels like a plain ugly duckling next to her gorgeous best friends and roommates Madison and Mika. One night at a club Mallory meets a too handsome for his own good man in a suit with a sexy accent. Unfortunately Mallory runs out before he can get her name or her number. [
But don’t worry, Alex is not a man easily put off. He finds Mallory and makes her an offer that a girl like her might not ever consider. But when a man like Alex Stone makes a sexy proposition, it needs serious consideration.
I have to say that I really and truly enjoyed Stone Shattered despite the fact that it has a cliffhanger ending. The story was well-written, filled with plenty of hot kinky sex, suspense and romance. Alex may be a guy who likes to be in control but he knows how to make a girl feel special. And even though Mallory is willing to submit…when she wants to, but when Alex is inconsiderate she has no problem putting him in his place.
I was given a free copy of Stone Shattered by author Renee Harless for an objective review and I have to say I’m happy I said yes.
Mallory’s “best friends” all leave something to be desired. They are close to thirty yet act like they’re barely legal to consume alcohol. Never mind they totally violate girl code at the bar on multiple occasions, but they weren’t real friends. The secondary characters like Annie and Gregory were likable and offered a bit of kindness in a pretty dark story.
With all that being said…I now have to wait until summer to see how it all plays out, but I have a feeling I know the secret! -
Overall, I enjoyed reading Stone Shattered – the plot was intriguing and got off to an exciting start with the prologue, but it was also fairly similar to some other books I’ve read. If you liked 50 Shades of Grey, you’ll LOVE this. The sex is kinky and steamy, the scenes wonderful, and the plot suspenseful.
Mallory Winston was a great and endearing main, and her affair with Alex Stone gets off to an extremely hot start – their connection is instant, and the sex scenes are extremely hot and sexy. But try as I might, I just couldn’t bring myself to like Alex. He was very sweet to Mallory, but incredibly rude to everyone else – which is something I just can’t find endearing. While I wouldn’t have minded if this was played as a character flaw, Mallory instead seems to see it as endearing, especially when he threatens her two best friends – not nice people to be sure, but it was a little disconcerting to read!
Having said that, their affair is a fun, steamy romp and I enjoyed the suspense element of the story very much. The ending was an excellent twist, and I think the next book in the series will pick up and take the author’s ideas further. I definitely recommend this book to fans of the genre – there’s so much to enjoy here and I’m really looking forward to book two!
The only other reason I'm not giving this four stars is due to a few typographical errors.
I was provided with a free copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review. -
*~* I received this book in exchange for an honest review. *~*
This is a new author to me and I have to say that I really enjoyed the first book in the series.
For me it has what I am looking for in a good book. It has everything you could want in a book, love, action, suspense, mystery, and a little laughter.
Alex is quite the sexy, mysterious and domineering Hero we all want. There were times when I really liked him and times I wanted to slap him. I like how he was portrayed throughout the book, giving you just enough to keep you guessing.
Mallory is what I like in a heroin. She is smart, funny, driven, strong and really going places. I was heartbreaking to read her journey. At a time in her life when so much is looking up while at the same time some things are falling apart. Through it all she remains strong and holds her own, she really does have an amazing heart.
Having been in a bit of a book slump lately, this book as definitely spurred me back into the reading game. I really like them together and have enjoyed their story thus far. I am going to dive right into the next book as I am dying to know what happens next.
