Top 10 Vancouver Vancouver Island Reviews

If you only have a short time in Vancouver, this pocket guide fits the bill. Its goal is not depth but overview, with many "top 10" lists for visiting neighborhoods, museums, parks, restaurants, bars, etc. Also separate sections on nearby Vancouver Island, Victoria, and Whistler; helpful maps on the inside of the covers as well as a small pull-out map; tips on transportation, hotels, and safety. The slim size is perfect for a purse or a raincoat pocket (you are packing your raincoat and umbrella, right?).

It has been a long time since I travelled with a guide book, and found this one to be borderline useless. We went to Victoria, and there are very few pages in this book dedicated to Victoria. I think I only used it for the maps.
-
Easy quick read if you're going to Vancouver for a few days but don't plan on spending weeks and weeks there. It's also nice and light to bring along.

Decent outline of the city's highlights, though the restaurant etc. recs are too Touristy capital T to be useful.
-
It gave me a great first overview and helped me roughly planning my stay.

An okay travel book telling the top sights to see, restaurants, bars and hotels in both Vancouver and Victoria
