Capture Stilettos Stardust: A Gender-Swapped Cinderella Story (True Loves Wish, #1) Developed By D.L. Pitchford Disseminated As Paper Copy
And Stardust By D, L. Pitchford Spoiler Free .
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for a free and honest review,
Retellings are the best, Especially Cinderella ones. Plus, twists are also awesome, So when I saw this Cinderella retelling had a twist, I was like, heck yeah, sign me up! And boy was I not disappointed, This story was full to the brim with cuteness, feels and had me rooting for our main characters!
This book had a wonderfully built world, I loved learning about it and the writing was excellent, The story itself was extremely different in that it was a gender swapped story, and I loved it! The characters were well rounded and developed throughout the book, I gave this a.out ofstars! I can't wait to read more from this author! I really love when authors can make such a simplesounding plot fun and unique,
Stilettos amp Stardust is a Young Adult story marketed as a “genderswapped, modern day Cinderella, ” While the parallels to Cinderella are a liiittle more vague than I was anticipating, I can definitely see some similarities especially between Eden, her mother, and the relationship that her mother tries to set up for her.
I never would have even thought to compare Cinderella to space and physics so that just makes the parallels that are there all the more impressive, I think, And, hell even though its not technically marketed as such, I think I could detect some Romeo amp Juliet themes, too, Just yknow, without all of the poisoning and suicides,
The story is told in a dual POV, which the narration switching off every other chapter, and both Eden and Noah were enjoyable in their own ways thank God, because its not that uncommon for me to like one POV and dislike the other.
But, I think the author does an excellent job at fleshing out both of their backstories, both so incredibly different but similar in stressful home environments, and slowly allowing the characters to come together and open themselves up to one another.
I think Noahs background is especially unique and traumatic, and, from a readers standpoint, its so absolutely mindboggling that you cant help but feel sorry for him, He even narrates at one point that he hates the pity people give him, but its impossible to, . . not. Though hes a fictional character, you cant help but wonder how the hell he can deal with something as horrifying as that,
Though contemporary novels arent usually as recognized as, say, fantasy or scifi, for their worldbuilding, I think Stilettos amp Stardust feels incredibly real and threedimensional, Hell, theres a college in the book called Archer Collins that I actually had to LOOK UP because I wasnt sure if it was real or not, Its not from what I could tell, anyway, but everything about it in the book absolutely makes it feel like its a real university out there somewhere in the U.
S. Hell, I am not a math or sciences person by ANY means, but after awhile I found myself wondering if I could go to Archer Collins, Im still a little mind blown that its not a real university, tbh,
Overall, I definitely enjoyed this book! There is a little bit of a love triangle, but, unlike most in YA fiction, I think its absolutely believable and necessary for the plot events and characters in this story, so I didnt want to touch too much upon it for sake of spoilers.
I think anyone who enjoys contemporary romance will love this book its also very sexpositive and doesnt shy away from the subject of sex in high school relationships, which is definitely something you dont see very much in the YA audience.
Definitely a very refreshing romance read, and I definitely recommend anyone reading this review to check it out! I was a goner the moment I saw that charmingly beautiful ok, I am getting short of synonyms here.
. . well, to be short, one of the most amazing covers, And what lies inside is equally captivating, But before going into that, it is better to clear some things out,
For one, 'Stilletos amp Stardust' is the first in a series of YA romances titled 'True Love's Wish', Nope, as far as I know, this story won't be continued in the next book, And for the other thing, if you are looking for a retelling of Cinderella within the background of a scientific community, you are in for a heartbreak, Anyway, I didn't find anything remotely related to the fairytale here,
But that doesn't really affect your reading pleasure, Narrated through the dual point of view, the book follows the thoughts of Noah and Eden, who are struggling to get their tuition fee in order to attend the prestigious Archer Collins University.
Each of them having a meddling parent, the regional science fair seems to be the last hope, For Noah, this is a way to follow his astrologist mother's footsteps who died recently, As for Eden, this is the chance to prove her mettle,
Noah, I thought in the beginning, was slightly autistic, But as the story progressed that striking realisation came there is someone far worse than him in failing to pick up social cues, his archnemesis Eden, Without a doubt, they make a great pair frankly speaking, I don't think anyone else can stand Eden, They are rough diamonds, like many other eager young minds of tomorrow and one cannot blame if they are struggling in the social relations department,
You must have got the drift of the story by now, More than a love story, this book revolves around questions of family relationships especially the different ways the people react to grief, problems of identity and of course, gender equality.
Trust me, you are going to have a new reverence to the scientific community once you finish off that final page,.out of!!!! Rounded up to,
to come soon!!!
Heartfelt thanks to the author for sending me this book! Very little Cinderella this story is told fromperspectives Noahs and Edens.
The chapters alternate characters and they both have a unique style so even if you dont look at the chapter heading it was easy to tell whos chapter you were in at any time.
We start off meeting Noah who is still trying to get over the death of his mum, he visits her grave every day after school and tells her about everything thats going on in his life and the lives of his brothers and his father, I could tell by the way he spoke about them that he feels like they dont care, theyre just getting on with their lives whilst for Noah losing his mum is still very raw.
Then we meet Eden who wants to focus on her education but is being told by her mother shesnow so its time to find a husband and she has the perfect one in mind.
We soon find out that Noah and Eden attend the same school, theyre in the same psychics class, but they hate each other, they both think theyre the best and everythings a competition.
something happens in the classroom and the teacher decides to put them together as lab partners,
This brings them together and once they actually get to know each other they find out that they have more in common than they first thought,
The character development in this story was amazing, Every single one of the characters learnt something about themselves, but it was done in a realistic believable way which can sometimes be hard to do,
This book had me feeling so many emotions which was surprising considering its relatively short!
A thoroughly enjoyable read that I will be recommending to all fans of YA Romance This was a first for me I'm not usually one for a Y.
A Romance but when i was asked to read this book the concept behind it drew me in this book was amazing, to say the least, the characters were well written and put together perfectly.
i loved the way you got to reread the book from both points of view and that both points of view where both so well written and enjoyable as you don't always end up liking both points of view as I have often found myself preferring one to the other but that wasnt the case for me with this book.
The world building in this book was amazingly done and so well structured, I loved that you find yourself being able to picture the places described in this book and the way the science and space factors of this book draw you in so well and really pique your interest throughout the book
The relationships in the book are equally well written the author does an amazing job of giving you the perfect amount of back story for these characters and the way you see them slowly come together and open them selfs up to one another is perfect it's not rushed and it's done in a beautiful way.
Overall I loved every part of this book and I can't wait to see what the author writes next
story
characters
word building I just couldn't get into this book.
I got aboutof the way through it twice and decided it wasn't worth it, It just didn't capture my interest so I can't offer a legitimate review, I jumped at the chance to read Stardust and Stilettos as Cinderella is one of my favourite Disney movies and just reminds me of my childhood, Theres also the added bonus of being a gender swap retelling too which Im always a fan of,
Poor Noah, his mum, a famous scientist and astronaut, dies after a mission gone wrong, He gets an acceptance letter for the same university as his mum went to but his father refuses to pay for it, determined to go he goes about trying to win the money.
His only problem standing between him and his goal is his high school competitor and nemesis Eden, He thinks she arrogant, selfish and basically insane,
They are forced to be lab partners but as they find themselves growing closer, is there more to their relationship than they first thought
Now I went into this thinking it was going to be a light fluffy read but theres actually a lot more emotional depth in this story.
Its told from both Eden and Noahs perspectives so you really get to know the characters a lot better and get both sides of the story,
Yes it does have the trope of a dead/seriously ill parent but I think the author makes this her own, really communicating her characters pain and the different ways people grieve.
I have to be honest it wasnt until after Id read it and really thought about it I got a few of Cinderella references but I wouldnt have said this was an obvious retelling.
Stilettos and Stardust is a really emotional and compelling story and a must for fans of YA romance, .
