The narrator is a beautiful actress, at once confident in her talent and her beauty, and deeply insecure. At times contradictory and unreliable, the narrator—whose name we never learn—draws the reader into a world of memories, fantasies, and impressions, never revealing herself completely. She constantly teases the reader, who remains torn between what is truth and what is reality. And at the same time we are led to wonder whether Marceau's novel is wholly autobiographical, or whether she is leading us up the garden path on a grand scale. Through her beautifully crafted prose, Sophie Marceau has written a compelling exploration of female identity.

Telling Lies: A Novel Reviews

I think this book definitely deserves a second read. The bits I do understand of the book are just amazing, I think the narrator feels all emotions so intensely it warps her perception of herself leading her to believe she’s a liar and manipulator. Yet again maybe she is, I’m not frustrated by my confusion I just think the book deserves another go.

This one is tricky to to review because it is so unique. I might best describe it like watching a French movie, or dreaming that I was watching a French movie. The writing is lovley, at time ethereal. Sophie Marceau is a fine actress. I enjoy her movies and I was curious about her skills as a writer. She did not disappoint. The book is emotional and throughly enganged in the senses. At times I wondered if parts of it were biographical. I'm not sure it would have been quite as interesting without Sophie Marceau as the author. However, I dislike most mainstream books that appeal to the masses. From that stand point, I greatly appreciate it. A well written book that is probably better before English traslation.

This book is not about plot. All what I can remember is a feeling.Floating, free, light, delicate...no ending
