Gain All That Glitters (Tinseltown Blues, #1) Generated By Acer Adamson EBook
Sheffield is at one of the biggest bashes ever thrown in Hollywood and he's miserable, even if the party is for his twentyfifth birthday.
His best friend, and former lover, Jake Blythe is trying to help him break out of the funk he's been in for the past six months, ever since Harley's older brother Trey left without even saying goodbye.
Despite everything, Harley can't help but love Trey with all his heart, When Trey shows up unexpectedly at their house, Harley will give him the night to decide whether he's staying or leaving for good.
There is a wee content warning included with the blurb of this book, "This title contains a consensual sexual relationship between adult brothers and a fair amount of angst.
" That's the most important thing you need to read before picking up this great story, First if you have any squicks or qualms about brothers being in a sexual relationship with one another, and we're not talking about twins here, then don't read this story.
If you are open to that kind of relationship, and don't mind a good dose of angst in your stories, then definitely read this short but truly enjoyable selection.
This is not the typical story you would expect from Acer Adamson, . . or Jaye Valentine. It centers on the deep emotional struggle that both Harley and Trey are going through, Harley loves Trey deeply but can't keep chasing after his big brother, desperate for a physical relationship, Trey admits without hesitation that he loves Harley, but he struggles with guilt over a relationship that is seen as wrong and fear that Harley's life will be ruined if someone discovers their relationship.
This is the true definition of angst, in all it's beauty and raw grittiness, which makes for a brilliant story.
Fans of Jaye and Reno's writing, including Jaye's work as Acer, will love this story and the chance to see a slightly different side of Jaye.
This is a wonderful little story, with great characertizations within only a few pages, and a fabulous beginning to a new series.
There is obviously much more to come
from Harley and Trey, and hopefully we'll get to see more of Jake Blythe as well.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for Brits! Take a break and read this awesome story you won't be disappointed one bit.
sitelink livejournal. com/ I like this author and I like the taboo storyline, overall this was good but I felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story and actually volume two felt more like it should be volume one and this one should follow it.
The way the story was told Trey just sort of shows up, we don't really feel the separation like we probably should to get the impact.
Having said that, things did get sexy and we got the set up for an interesting series though I only see two volumes.
Hope we get more! I guess I should say up front this is an incest story, So for those with an issue, no need to read the review, For any pervs left that are always up for a good romp within the same DNA pool, you should seriously consider getting this short story.
The brotherly incest is the main thrust of the story but yet there is a decent amount of angst and moral agonizing that happens with only a single abbreviated sex scene.
So this is not actually extended incest porn sadly, Its a wellwritten introduction to a cast of characters that are intelligent and grapple with their own sexuality and morality.
The premise as the blurb says is rather simple, Harley is struggling since Trey left and only wants one thing his brother to return, Harley is an interesting character and has apparently gotten over his own sense of guilt and morality prior to where the story picks up.
Indeed, Harleys morals are somewhat circumspect as there are several references to an affair between Harley and his married best friend, Jake.
Unfortunately Harley, for all his vibrant interest, still needs more depth and characterization, The author leaves him, and all the cast for that matter, very much as an introduction and only gives hints so far.
Somewhat of an annoying device sure but Im interested enough to invest in the series so far,
Harleys blunt attitude and emotional chill are engaging as is Treys attack of guilt, It was nice to see the concept of morality, guilt, and social awareness mixed into the story, Occasionally its refreshing to see incestuous brothers grapple with the repercussions of their actions, Not always and the emotional angst could run long after a while so itll be interesting to see if the author can continue to handle the matter deftly.
So far though, Treys actions are somewhat confusing and ill explained, leaving him as a figure of angst and turmoil against Harleys calm acceptance.
The additional character of Jake was surprising and much welcomed, though again, there are numerous unanswered questions regarding his involvement with Harley and acceptance of the brothers.
Considering Harley is just turning, Im very interested in how this timeline shapes up and how all the various dangling threads get woven together.
So as you can see, this first story in a planned series is one that will parcel out one entire storyline over the course of numerous books.
Readers should be aware youre likely to invest the time and few dollars for each book in the series to fill out the entire story.
Im not always a fan of this choice so the writing and characters have to be even more compelling and the introduction has enough threads of intrigue to peak initial interest.
As a first book of a series, I thought this short story was fascinating if unfinished.
The characters certainly stood out and captured my attention, as did the writing, Several turns of phrase just struck me such as “emotionally bankrupt” and “thick, thirsty towel”, There was a level of detail woven into the prose itself that conveyed the emotion of the scene very well.
If readers are looking for several short stories regarding the theme of incest and potential moral guilt, check out this beginning to see if you like it.
Everyone knows all that glitters is not gold and in Hollywood that couldnt be more true,
For screen star Harley Sheffield, the constant sparkle of champagne bubbles and flash of the media's cameras are made bearable by only one thinghis older brother, Trey.
Unfortunately, in a world where a celebrity's life is held under continual, microscopic scrutiny, Trey is increasingly uncomfortable with their illicit affair and leaves for six months to search his soul for answers.
When the need to see Harley becomes overwhelming and Trey returns home, Harley gives him the night to decide what is more important: avoiding the cold glare of Tinseltown and the risk of being discovered, or once again knowing the warmth of his brother's love.
Content Warning: This title contains a consensual sexual relationship between adult brothers and a fair amount of angst.
Harley has two loves, his career and his brother Trey, Not any real character development but a hot story for lovers of brother inest stories, I have already read a book on incest story , one dramatic story between sister and brother ,so I'm not shocked by this because Acer Adamson write short story that are fun, hot, intense, exciting and I enjoy read them.
WOWZA!
This is a really short story, and man I am like messed up, I dont know if I am crazy for finding it hot, or a real dirty pervert, I blame yaoi mangas, for making brothers together hot, Yeh I said it "brothers together hot",
This is not sweet, both characters are well aware of what their relationshop means, but its truly hard to stop what you feel.
In onlypages you get all their emotions, and their struggles and the possibilites of what will happen if they are discovered.
This short story will not be for everyone, and for those who don't mind brothers doing each other then check it out.
Its a good thing its only a book, I have a strong suspicion that I would feel differently if this were real.
It really is great writing, and you get the very suffering the brothers are feeling, Its a fobidden love, but its love the same, And while you might be thinking "ewww sex" what they feel is so much more than that, I got all that from this very short story, and I will be looking into the second, not so soon cus my heart can't handle it.
A taboo issue that isn't for everyone, but I loved this short story, It's not a sweet, sappy relationship that's being described, but one that both characters know isn't on the scale of normal.
Harley and Trey are emotional, selfknowingly fuckedup characters, Their feelings for each other are laid out raw and without excuses, showcased with such beautiful emotion that despite the length of this piece, I was hooked all the way through and could have sworn it was longer than it really was.
Acer Adamson writes stories that strike his fancy, some sweet and hot while others are taboo and racy.
When not wearing this top secret disguise, Acer is really author Jaye Valentine, .
