An introductory book for kids about Philippine history during the Japanese period. I couldn't help but feel the difficulties and fear our fellow Filipinos experienced during this time. The events that happened were really unimaginable, it was great perseverance for survival that strengthened the hope of each Filipino during this time.

Pitong's life suddenly changed when his family decided to leave Tarlac and find a safe place to stay during the Japanese invasion. Pilo and his family went to his Tiya Guring's house in Malabon. witnessed and experienced the cruelty and abusiveness of the Japanese invaders. The story gives its readers a glimpse of what it was like during Japanese colonization in the Philippines. It manifests the harsh condition and the struggles of every Filipino family living at that time. Telling the Philippine history in a story form instead of memorizing dates and events will pique children's interest in understanding and learning the past.
