Neurosurgery Self-Assessment: Questions and Answers Reviews

  • Mr. Ammar Kadhim, Neurosurgeon

So many errors than what can be tolerated.Good to read the explanations but many of the answers are wrong or the question is wrong for the answer like the question says least and they select most or vice versa or the photo illustaration is in letters and the answer is in numbers! It should be corrected and they should have no tolerance to mistakes it is not a jokes book. It is a high profile book with good reputation. Ignoring the errors leads to ignoring the book at the end. Just an advice.

Probably the only UK focused exam preparation book for FRCS exams.First edition had few mistakes (mcqs answers) and confusion discrepancies between hard and soft copies.Yet its still very useful and filled with essential material for neurosurgery exam preparation

A few typos and mismatched answers, but essentially a very good book, especially for UK candidates that have previously had to use US books, which lean towards basic science.

  • Alexandros B

Brilliant book, writen by a excellent colleague. Definitely recommend it.

It’s a good idea for a question bank, but has SO MANY ERRORS. You can spend just as much time verifying the incorrect and nonsensical errors than you actually do reviewing the subject. There are multiple types of errors: 1) direct contradictions between the “correct” answer and the explanation, 2) questions where the answers are revealed in the choices, 3) questions where the “correct” answer was not an option at all (like the answer key was for a different question altogether)Also the format where you write in the answers is inconvenient and if you accidentally press a directional button, you have to start over.I would not recommend buying this edition, wait and see if the next edition fixes these problems.
