estou lendo o livro comprado e estou gostando uanto ao serviço da é nota dez I'd actually give this aif I could but I'm rounding up because I was pleasantly surprised by how much this felt like a Rex Stout offering The characterizations were very good perhaps a little too much Archie and not enough Wolfe but they were both very close to the original Stout characters The plot flowed smoothly and followed the pattern of the original series with of course the big reveal at the end Worth reading if you are a Nero Wolfe fan Very good この物語はアーチーグッドウィンの永遠の恋人リリーローワンの家族実際には姪のノリーンの家族が関係するが巻き込まれる殺人事件であるレックススタウトのネロウルフ物語においてリリーローワンはシーザーの埋葬Some Buried Caesar年に初登場しその後いくつかの作品においてアーチーの恋人でありよき協力者であり続けるしかしリリー自身については父親が下水道事業で財を成した億万長者でありその娘でニューヨーク市内のペントハウスで優雅な生活を送っていることぐらいしか描かれていない作者のロバートゴールズボロはこの作品でもそうであるがDeath on Deadlineにおいても友人のロンコーエンが務める新聞社ガゼット社を舞台にした物語を書いており読者にとってはネロウルフの世界が広がるのは有難いことだとおもうさて事件の発端はアーチーがいつものようにリリーとデートして食事をしながら冗談を言うのであるがリリーの様子がおかしいのに気が付く話を聞いてみると姪のノリーンが付き合っていた男からレイプされたということが判るノリーンは母親のメガンとの折り合いが悪く海外に出かけることが多く離婚も何度かあり現夫だけでなく元夫とも付き合いがあり娘ともは話が合わない色々とリリーを頼っていたのであっただがこういうことは当然家族にも知られることにアーチーはノリーンが付き合っていた男スパーキーリンヴィル典型的な遊び人で毎夜キャバレーやナイトクラブを渡り歩くような人物でありいわゆる大金持ちのドラ息子と接触して話をつけようとするMorgana'sというクラブの玄関前で待ち構えて話をしようとするがガラの悪い連れがいて話し合いにならず殴り合いになりそうになるがドアマンに制止されてその場を収めるアーチーは別の機会にしようという事でその場を去るが翌朝リンヴィルの撲殺死体が自分の車を置いているガレージで発見される殺害に用いられたのはタイヤレンチと考えられたが現場には残されていなかった当然前夜被害者とトラブルのあったアーチーも容疑者として疑われクレーマー警部が事務所を訪ねてくるが嫌疑は晴れるやがてノリーンの兄であるマイケルが自分がリンヴィルを殺したと自首をするだが証言にはあいまいなところもあり妹がレイプされたことが動機として挙げられるが妹をかばって自首したのが本当の所と考えられたノリーンはポリーマーズという友達と同居していたのであるがこのポリーも殺されたリンヴィルの元の彼女であり彼女もリンヴィルから暴力を受けていたことが判って来るまあ調べれば調べるほど殺されたリンヴィルは下司野郎であったことが判って来るが勿論殺人は許されることではない殺人の動機としてはノリーンがレイプされたことが最有力と考えられノリーンの周囲の人物が怪しいという事でアーチーが調査するが手がかりは中々得られないノリーンの家族母親の元夫ノリーンの友人男性など犯罪に用いられたと考えられるタイヤレンチも発見されず事件は膠着状態へ果たして犯人は誰か凶器の行方は最終的には関係者全員を集めてネロウルフが例のごとく犯人を特定するのであるがこの本の表題のThe Last Coincidence 最後の偶然の一致の意味がイマイチ明確でないのが気にかかるところである I know some Rex StoutNero Wolfe purists are not thrilled with Robert Goldsboroughs continuation of the series but Ive been enjoying his efforts The Last Coincidence was published inand although the characters have not aged over several decades they are now living in the late twentieth century and Archie is keeping the orchid records and doing other office tasks on a computer His relationship with long time lady friend Lily Rowan gets a bit attention too although Archie remains a gentleman and never goes into detailIn this installment Wolfe and Archie investigate the murder of a young man who has assaulted Lilys niece For a moment even Archie might be a suspect but attention soon turns to a collection of Lilys relatives and their friends The novel ends as Wolfes cases often do with all the suspects gathered in Wolfes office as the great detective drinks beer and explains allMany years ago when I was a book a day reader I barreled through all the Nero Wolfe novels Ive picked up and enjoyed a few of those recently but Im also happy to see the cases continue After the heir to a frozen food fortune gets iced Nero Wolfes right hand man becomes a suspectGoldsborough does a masterly job with the Wolfe legacyBooklist When Lily Rowan doesnt laugh at his jokes Archie Goodwin knows somethings wrong Her niece Noreen has been running around with Sparky Linville a club hopping bad boy whos the terror of Manhattan nightlife and the last time she went out with him Noreen wasnt herself when she came home All she would tell her aunt was that she had been assaultedSpringing into action Goodwin waits for Linville outside of Morganas a chrome and glass palace that sits like a wart on Second Avenue They nearly come to blows but Linvilles bodyguard intervenes and Goodwin retreats to plan his next move In the morning Linville is dead and Goodwin is the chief suspect For years he has helped rotund genius Nero Wolfe out of jams and now its time for the master detective to return the favorAfter the heir to a frozenfood fortune gets iced, Nero Wolfexs righthand man becomes a suspect:xcGoldsborough does a masterly job with the Wolfe legacyxd Booklist.
