got sucked right into this one It was amazing Read it Yes it's YA but ohh so good This is a story of a young girl on the cusp of adulthood when her whole life is turned upside down with the death of her mother Her famous father is now in her life for the first time and she has to learn how to traverse her life with a lot of unknownsThis really is about self discovery and who you are now meant to be Rachel must learn how to live in a world without the only parent she ever knew how to trust a parent who was never in her life and how to fit in at a new schoolI enjoyed this book so much but the only thing holding me back onis that I felt there was still so much story that needed to be told The ending just didn't feel right it felt very unfinished Sarina always manages to write a fab book no matter what the story is and what its aboutI hadnt read the blurb for this but it did not disappoint one bitThis starts off with Rachel having major upheaval in her life losing her mum is a huge shock for anyone yet alone ayear old whos dad is not aroundThings change for her when she meets her dad and then moves onto college where she meets some great friends leading her into the next chapter if her lifeOne of her closest friends is Jake who helps her settle in even before shes arrived to start classes easy to talk to and extremely nerdy hes just not what she expects when she sees him in the fleshThis story has every emotion you can ask for thrown in and tackles some really hard hiting times that are hard to actually write well and respectfully My first book by this author What an emotional ride I did cry but its a story not to be missed and I really didnt want it to be over Once I was fully connected I could have happily stayed there for a few hundred pages I hope if we all ask enough maybe there will be another book There were parts difficult to read Poor Rachels life did break my heart for her I dont know if my own personal grief made this read harder but I found myself in tears a lot yet I couldnt stop reading nor did I want to An amazing read I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book but purchased a copy as wellRachels parents did wrong by herfrom a goodish place Rachels mum Jenny had Rachel out of wedlock very young Her mistake was keeping Rachel away from her father Rachels father Fredrick is a world famous musician His mistake was keeping himself away from Rachel Together they gave Rachel a mixed up twisted view of the reality of her beginning and how she A book that deals with a challenging fatherdaughter relationship and doesn't get bogged down in the teen romance plot thread Instead it handles fraught emotions with a wonderful blend of humor and raw honesty I get that this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but it worked for me This is a gem I usually stay away form YA because of the over the top drama but this is an authentic story about grief anger and fear of conflict mixed with gentle humour There is some uiet romance and self discovery all mixed up with a lovely fantasy rock star dad and an unlimited shopping budget I love Sabrina Bowens books and I am so glad I bought this one Thoroughly recommended such great dialogue And the love story between the two young characters is also so darned cute Highly highly recommend
this for teens and for adults alike My heart broke a thousands times while reading this Rachael is beautifully written and I really felt her pain This book is definitely worth reading I was sorry it had to end Good read Even though it was a YA story it translates well for any age I had Year I My eyes on a few occasions Really enjoyed it The Accidentals is the emotionally poignant story of seventeen year old Rachel Kress and the upheaval of her life after her mothers tragic passingAlthough her father has been absent throughout her life shes never been in any doubt of who he is The “he” in uestion is grammy nominated and multi award winning rock star Freddy Ricks His musical presence has been the soundtrack to her childhood but the reality of his enigma and physical presence strike notes of discord between what she thinks she knows and the answers she still seeksThe testament to my instant investment in this story is the result of Sarinas flawless writing I was immediately endeared to Rachel and the grace and bravery she exhibited at such an uncertain period in her life The relationship between father and daughter was seamless yet fraught as they danced around the the painful decisions of the past I felt her hesitation and curiosity and met them with my own hopeful need for her to have the happy ending she so deservedAn additional dynamic to the story was the adorable romance between Rachel and her fellow classmate Jake Hes sweet relief from the heaviness of home and I was grateful it gave her the reprieve to be a kid againWith perfect pacing and development The Accidentals is an emotionally sophisticated Young Adult debut from an author ive long been in adoration of The first steps of Sarina Bowen into the YA universe is a match made in heaven She masters the written word with such a level of sensitivity as the reader forgets she's reading a story of a life that isn't her own Just pure magic Good book Light to read great story A YA novel from USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen Never ask a uestion unless youre sure you want the truth Ive been listening to my father sing for my whole life I carry him in my pocket on my mpplayer Its just that weve never met face to face My mother would never tell me how I came to be or why my rock star father and I have never met I thought it was her only secret I was wrong When she dies he finally appears Suddenly I have a first class ticket into my fathers exclusive world A world I dont want any part of not at this cost Only three things keep me going my a cappella singing group a swoony blue eyed boy named Jake and the burning uestions in my soul Theres a secret shame that comes from being an unwanted child It drags me down and puts distance between me and the boy I love My father is the only one alive who knows my history I need the truth even if it scares me With intense honest depictions of hope and rejection The Accidentals will break your heart Highly recommend Miranda Kenneally author of Catching JordanA YA novel from USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.
