I am a first time parent to ayear oldmonths and he was showing signs of being ready, but I wasnt, I was terrified and didnt know where to start, and also sad to say goodbye to my baby in diapers.
This book gave me the confidence that I needed and motivation to finally get started on the potty training journey, Its a super easy read I dont read books but this one was short, motivating, informative, and fun I read it during my sons nap indays.
There is a lot of helpful tips on how to get started and how to recognize when your child is ready,
Take what you need from it, every child is different, I will say that my son is very verbal for his age so that may have made this process easier, He has also been sitting on the potty from time to time over the last couple months when Id notice his cues, Id run him over, so he wasn't completely new to it.
The book does not recommend a small potty, though thats what it took for my son to get comfortable on the larger potty he was scared of the larger one at first.
The first day was lots of accidents and questioning if he was ready or not I had been loading up on liquids as it recommends and he was going everymins, but once we went to regular fluids the process was so much easier for us, though the many accidents helped me recognize his cues.
Mostly, this book helped me identify if he was ready and to finally feel prepared myself to actually go through with it and helped in listing the things to have to be prepared.
The first day was the toughest, staying indoors fordays was difficult, it helps to have someone else switch you out for breaks, By daymy son was telling me when he needed to potty on his own, though I still gave many reminders throughout the day, we are on dayand I am so happy that I purchased this book.
What I spent on this book has definitely paid off in the diapers I wouldve bought over the last few days! Its well written, but I dont think giving candy as a price to children that are betweenandis the correct choice.
In general it has good tips but you have to change it to your preferred way of doing things, following this to the detailed I really dont recommend.
