As you would expect from the In Easy Steps brand the book is written in an approachable style with step by step instructions provided for many of the tips, and full colour screenshots guiding you through the processes.
I found the book to be ordered and comprehensive, particularly for such a small book, I think this is due to how concisely written it is, The book is useful because, although I would consider myself somewhere between competent and advanced, with regards to Excel, my knowledge can be a little patchy, So, although much of the book was familiar to me, there was quite a bit that was not and helped flesh out my knowledge, I also think that among the long list of shortcuts, Im likely to find some that will prove to be time savers, There were a few of things that I think could have improved it, if it were possible to fit them in, There is information about finding and replacing using formulas but I think that some focus on the Find/Replace menu option would have been good, I also would have liked to see queries, where you can link to external data sources although this is potentially too big a subject to fit in I guess.
Linked to the above I think that it would be good to go into ways to make records rows unique, such as using a number and why you might want to do that e.
g. maintaining original order, finding records, To conclude, I would suggest this would be a useful book to most levels of user an expert user might know all of this, so it may not benefit them massively.
Tips are covered in a clear, understandable way, with examples where appropriate, to emphasise what is meant, I intend to keep mine by my workstation at work as a reference book primarily, A marvellous little book. I have read Excel sheets produced by others for years but rarely developed my own, This book very straightforwardly helps those like me or those who have forgotten all the tricks of the trade, Essential if you are not already an expert, The first thing that strikes me about this book is the size, A lot of books like this can be big and cumbersome, making them difficult to carry around with you, This book is definitely pocket sized, making it small enough to put in a laptop bag without issue, But dont let the small size put you off, this book is packed full of tips, The reason that the book can remain so small is that the tips are written concisely, making them really easy to follow, There are plenty of colour screenshots that allow for easy understanding of the information pointed out, At the end, there are some great pages on all different shortcuts to make using Excel easier, This is the best tip book I have ever used and would recommend it to anyone trying to get the most out of Excel, Handy little book Sean McManus writes inspiring books about business and technology,
