Avail Yourself The Journals Of Rachel Scott: A Journey Of Faith At Columbine High Assembled By Debra Klingsporn Released As Hardbound
loved this book. This book is a story of Rachel Joy Scott, a girl who is remembered for being the friend of friends, an Christianity lover and promoting the idea of it, an ideal friend, a stranger whom you can rely on, a social worker by choice, and finallymillion people remember her as a victim of of shootout at louisiana school by teenagers who got bullied.
Her story can make you cry, she start with dumb character who doesn't take stand of her own, but soon her character changes a positive changes, make her popular with people but she can't change everyone mind and mindset and she changes life of many with her belief system and help them get rid of childhood trauma that she has been through and many came to her for help and that's what she do, she help all of them.
But tragic end of her life, but she is a legendary person who is remembered by many and her work touched many souls in life, This book what can I say it had me from the very beginning the reason I came across this book was through YouTube documentary about Rachel family what they lived through when they lost her.
I saw previews for the movie I am Not Ashamed I said I have to read her book before seeing the movie, She really wanted to make a difference in the world to people around her and it wasn't easy to walk the walk, She really inspired me to go deeper in my faith and walk the walk instead of talking the talk, Her drawings her words kinda of mirrored my own life the only difference her parents wasn't together but mine are, School for her was trying to show love compassion be a normal teen but faced many pressures and she sensed that she would not live long on the day of her death she felt so sad like her soul knew.
I was prompted to read this book after seeing the movie "I Am Not Ashamed", The movie was great and Rachel's story really is inspiring, So, strange occurrence as to how I got this book: I am an avid Amazon shopper, I am notorious for adding a zillion things to my cart and then saving them for later, Something oddly satisfying about doing that, Anyway, after seeing the movie I went on to my Amazon App and added every book on Rachel that I could find and a few other columbine ones as well.
I took a screenshot and sent it to my husband saying that if he ever wanted to give
me a "just because" gift, I'd be stoked with any of the following books this one of course being on there.
We laughed it off andminutes later I received an order confirmation for this book, odd because he doesn't have access to my Amazon account, I asked him anyway and he denied having bought the book, So when I went to look at the app, the book was still in my cart, . weird. It was also purchased.
I don't know how this happened but took it as a complete God shot and read the book,
It has a great message, a little young for me I'd say, being that I am, I'm not too keen on the idea that it was written as if it was her, I enjoyed reading her writings and I admire her passion for God and her willingness to go after him, and be honest when she staggered a few steps back, Overall I enjoyed the heart felt message, I am glad I read it, as I still was able to gain inspiration, I just wish I'd have this as a young teen, Also, I'd have liked it better if it had not been written "as Rachel" and more if it was written from her mother/family and their experience of who she was while coinciding it with her journal entries.
That's it for me :, Written teen to teen as a firstperson narrative, this is not a book about the Columbine shootings instead, it's a story of faith, told in Rachel's own words, The book includes first person narratives, journal entries, drawings from Rachel's diary, and notes from her parents and friends at Columbine High School, Additionally, "me pages" what makes me angry, what I'm afraid of encourage teens to explore issues central to their lives and faith, Highlighting Rachel's faith journey from the time she became a Christian, through her joys and doubts, her hopes and dreams, this story is a triumphant testimony that teens will treasure.
