Immerse In Closet Monsters: Zombied Out And Tales Of Gothrotica Designed By Daniel W. Kelly Delivered In Digital Edition

was a fun collection of short stories and a novella zombie novella, whoot! Definitely not for the faint of heart, these stories are extreme in sexual content, violence, and gore.
Those are some of my favorite things in horror literature, add to it the fact that the sex is gay, and wow, what a fun trip it all was! I loved the zombie novella, "Zombied Out".
The premise is that everybody in the world passes out at the same time, then all homosexuals wake up, straight people as well as straight leaning transgender folks are now dead, but not for long.
The dead rise ready to feast on the flesh of the living, Those remaining gays must fight for their lives, but be careful not to be bitten lest they get infected as well, A slight twist on the usual zombie lore, and just an all out fun read! Trigger warning though, as I've said both the sex and violence are extreme, and the author steps beyond the boundary many stay behind regarding violence against children in books.
Of the accompanying short fiction, I particularly liked "Closet Monster" and "Suck Ass", With regards to the story "Suck Ass": Maybe it's just me, but stories with rapey bits and prison bits don't really do it for me.
I enjoyed this more than I expected to, A friend's review made me curious and I'm glad I took the time to read it, I agree very much with her review: the stories are sexual and violent and definitely don't always end the way the reader expects, There are some uncomfortable passages and concepts, as well, I actually really liked the novella at the end, but then I'm a sucker for a good zombie tale grin, I'm curious to see more of this writer's work,
Sometimes it's totally ok to judge a book by its cover, As in Closet Monsters was every bit as tacky and cheesy and ridiculous as its cover, with story plots equivalent to that of a low grade gay porn flick.
The short stories were pretty much straight up pornography, Zombied Out, the novella, had a bit more going on, but not by much, No cliche was spared in writing of this book, no stereotype not reinforced, This could have been at least campy, like a John Waters film, but it failed at that too, Save your time and money, IMO this book is neither Goth nor particularly erotic although it could be different from a gay male perspective, I can't say.
Waste of paper. Closet Monsters: Zombied Out and Tales of Gothrotica features nine gothic erotic stories about men who face off against monsters both literal and figurativefrom vampires and werewolves, to guntoting conservatives and vile priests.
The fulllength novella Zombied Out rounds out this steamy collection of horrorrotica and showcases Kelly's gift for sexy, creepy storytelling, CLOSET MONSTERS is all about the thrills that sex and horror bring Kelly elevates queer horror to a new level, drawing the reader in with sizzling sex and terrifying truths.
There are very real monsters, he says in his introduction, that threaten our very existence everyday, The parables in CLOSET MONSTERS are a testament to the fact that horror doesnt always end when you wake up, Daniel Kelly is the mind behind fellow gayhorror site, Boys, Bears, amp Scares, He pumps out so many reviews and brings up so many homorelated films that hes a top contributor for the “Need to Watch” list I have saved on my computer.
But hes also an author, with both novels and anthologies out that mostly plow deep into the world of gay horror erotica,

Kindly, Mr. Kelly offered me his anthologies, I received.

The titular story of the anthology Closet Monster opened the book with no reservations, guardrails, or safety words, To be frank, after I read it, I wasnt honestly sure if I liked it, The subject matter made me feel so icky, and disturbed, But when you think about it, what else are stories within the realm of horror supposed to make you do

It was almost strange to think that with one single story, Daniel had successfully made me feel both uncomfortable and shocked.
It reminded me of Chuck Palahniuks Haunted, and the opening story Guts, another anthology that basically just dropped its pants and told the reader, “This is what Ive got, and youre going to take it.

The second story in the antho to make my eyes go wild was Woof! As a gay man, I was already apprehensive of the title because with that one word, I think I knew what to expect.
Actually, let me add on to that sentence, As a gay, sexuallyvanilla man who enjoys cleaning, being clean, manscaping, and making gross faces when humans smell like natural humans I was apprehensive.
And sure enough, the story covered me in sweat, bodily fluids, rough mantastic sexual pleasures, and dog drool,

I feel almost no shame, but then total shame, in saying that Daniels stories were making me feel like I was some uptight, never been on a plane before, wheres my antibacterial soap, God Warrior from Cornflower, Kansas, population a modest, respectable,.

Congratulations Daniel. You win this round.

The novella in the collection was probably my favorite story, It was a small town zombie apocalypse tale but with a twist: Only the gay are immune, I did question a few choices the characters made “Everyone needs to stop trying to bang each other and focus on banging nails into shelter reinforcements!” Leave it to me to be the person pointing out the lack of sense in a porno.
but overall the story was a fun tale that kind of reminded me of a

sexual, queer Night of the Comet,

Anyway, despite apparently being the worst at reading erotica, I still enjoyed the anthologies, It was a nice change of pace from what Ive been reading lately and I liked having a whole antho with a range of stories focusing on gay characters.
