similar to another logging camp book I read but that one I remember being inspired by a true story of a pioneer woman who lived with a camp for many years and stayed on as their chefcamp cook This was also a very nice readI did think a lot of the later action in the book was misleadinglywell not up to par with physics and the reality of dangerbut you'll have to read it to judge for yourselfSeriously stupid Stupid Hh Stupid supporting characters Stupid plot A dnf atIf you're in the mood for a lady in the logging camp story try The Measure of Kate Calloway by Serena B Miller It was far superior Although it isit seems as if the Civil War is still very important in the lives of the two main characters Union Colonel Tom Randall still hates the South for hanging his sister as a Union spy Meggy Hampton has protected hersisters and aunt through the war years and is now ready to marry and have her own home and children She moves to Oregon to find a marriageable man a distant cousin because life in South Carolina is difficult and there are few young Southern men leftAs she arrives at Devil's Camp there is a funeral in progress for her fiancee Walter Peabody Because there is nothing left in South Carolina she decides to stay in the rough cabin her fiancee had willed to her This is over the loud objections of the camp's leader Tom RandallMeggy decides to bake and sell pies in order to earn money to return to South Carolina Why She knew there was nothing there remaining the parson's home had been given to a new minister all her sisters were married etcEach is attracted to the other but they realize that there can be nothing long term for them their antipathy for the other one's beliefs are too strong Of course that does not keep them from sharing a bed and that brings me to the 'log in the stream' for me Meggy was a minister's daughter who led church activities after her mother's death Hopping into bed so uickly just did not ring true Meggy was committed to her church activities and beliefs Why would ayear old chaste woman do such a thing with little or no remorse People were deeply religious at this time in our history Promiscuity was extremely rareOn the other side there was a lot of action that carried the plot along The Angel of Devil's Camp More like The btch of Devil's CampThere is no romance in this book The two main shtty protagonists bickers at every moment and then in one page they kiss and do the deed I don't want to be vulgar saying something else like there was no reason at all just because the male idiot was in lust and with no woman whre real meaning here for a while and the btch didn't even know what the fck she was doing There was no sentiment whatsoever in both parts Waste of time and I can't understand why I bothered with it in the first place since I didn't even finish a previous book of this author Never again Its all about the romance Keep to the romance and you got me hookedThis book is well written goes fast and keeps to the romance Thats what I like The hero and the heroine are strong people who are lost
