afternoon picnic.
When mama and papa bear offer a suggestion for a picnic spot, Brother and Sister Bear make a blunt comment about Mama and Papa Bear's aged taste.
The same scenario takes place when Gramps and Gran offer a suggestion Mama and Papa make a coarse remark to their parents and disregard their suggestions.
Finally Gramps gets fed up and talks to Mama, Papa, Brother, and Sister Bear about the value and importance of respecting elders.
When the Bear family thinks about their actions, they realize that they were wrong and make their apologies, Together as a happy family again, the Bears head off to their favorite picnic spot, Gramps' backyard!

Show Some Respect is a book intended for prek throughnd grade students.
The Berenstain Bear family's relationships/ dynamics with one another will gather the attention of these young kids, and the remarks that the children make to their elders will connect students to the story as it's likely that they've made comments similar to theirs.
I also think this book will appeal to this age because of the Berenstain Bear collection and all of the wonderful lessons taught in the book series.
I would implement this book during my classroom lesson on respect, a lesson that would be done at the beginning of the year.
With my younger kiddos, we would discuss how the children were disrespectful, and how they really should have treated their elders.
Next we would write out class rules and talk about how we could incorporate respect into these class rules, With my older kids, we would act out the part of Brother and Sister Bear and then discuss different and respectful approaches to handling their situation.
This book could also be brought back out to reteach the concept of respect if there was ever a problem in the classroom.

Well everyone is being disrespectful, I really don't like seeing the parents act badly, though I understand why the author made that decision, I get that sometimes we're all that way, but I also think we should be leading by example, Seeing Papa Bear behave dismissively in front of the kids kind of triggered me, and set me against this story even if there is a solid ending that to me salvaged the book.
What an absolutely valuable lesson! for the Mama and Papa's as well as kiddos, . . The Berenstain Bears have always been a favorite staple of my bookshelves for as long as I can remember, but since they started the Living Lights series the moral lessons have gotten better and better and even incorporate scripture.
What could be better to encourage my girls! Here and there I have found a few manners books, some I really find annoying, but others are quite cute and portray a lesson quite well.

This book takes the reader along a journey to picnic with the whole Bear Family, grandparents included, It's an adventure, but also a great way to show and explain respect and why it is important and how it is possible for any age to need a reminder now and then.
Forgiveness, learning and moving forward is a wonderful thing,

I cannot wait to add more and more Berenstain Bear books to our shelves for my girls to enjoy for years to come.

Thanks to Zondervan for providing a copy for review,

Gramps and Gran reprimand the Bear family lovingly when Brother and Sister disrespect Mama and Papa, and when Mama and Papa disrespect Gramps and Gran during a family picnic.
I love the Bernstein hears Not enough content

I didnt feel this book had the usual complete story I have seen in the Bernstein Bears books.
It was only about respecting you elders but didnt give many examples, I have always been a fan of the Berenstain Bears since I was a little girl, I know havegrandchildren and I am teaching them using the Bears, I absolutely love this new series that teaches character, As the family sets out for a picnic, they learn an important lesson on respecting your elders, In today's world, this is such a valuable lesson that needs to be learned, The kids were running away from their parents, Their parents said 'you have to wait for us' but the kids didn't, The Grandpa said 'I have a perfect spot for a picnic' but the Papa wasn't being nice, The sister said 'that was a long time ago' to her Papa, They all said sorry and had picnic in the backyard and that was the end,

Other kids should read it because I will save this so I will learn to be respectful,

C, ageParents, please read this to your children, . . over and over again. Summary
The Berenstain family is heading out to eat as a family on a picnic, They all interrupt and argue with each other to see who has the biggest and best spot, Gramps shuts this down, and teaches them some respect,

This is one of the first Berenstain Bears books I've picked up in a while, and it still ceases to bore me.
It was a great little story about respect, and who to respect, The artwork was a little good, left much to be desired, The plot was a little forced but what do you expect, Our sons second favorite family

We love these stories so much great lessons and valuable time together reading about this lovely family!
