Receive Building A Perfect Match (Chatam House, #6) Conceived By Arlene James Disseminated As Script
this series! The aunties are awesome! Too hokey for me, Miniseries: Chatam House
Category: Inspirational Romance
When Petra Chatam returns to Buffalo Creek and Chatam House for her Aunt Odelia's wedding and to restore the Vail Hotel she hopes that she has finally found her calling after years of switching jobs, much to her family's apparent disappointment.
What she does find however is local contractor Dale Bowen who is too handsome for his own good, The two of them want very different things out of life and are seemingly incompatible, but as construction continues it seems like there is more they agree on then first thought.
The sixth work in the Chatam House series, "Building a Perfect Match" is the first one I have read so far.
It has a much more Christian lean to it then I thought it would, most of the book built around the importance of Proverbs:which is a reoccurring theme throughout the book.
I'm curious now if the other books in the Chatam House series have a similar emphasis on religion, I look forward to finding out, For a lot of the novel there are multiple references to events of past books but it doesn't seem entirely necessary to read them first before reading "Building a Perfect Match".
Some of the major themes explored here are working mothers, stay at home mothers, and the idea of following a 'calling'.
One of the big things that Petra's parents apparently instilled in their children is finding a career to throw themselves into, having a career rather then just 'jobs'.
Petra is shown to feel out of place in her family where each of her siblings is very dedicated to their chosen career and her parents are still very dedicated doctors as opposed to Petra who has been trying on jobs with no successful fit before she begins assisting in the restoration of the Anderton Vail.
To Petra she has finally found a career that she can move forward in and become successful in, Dale however and his desire for family and close relationships between family members seems to be the complete opposite of her wants.
A large part of the conflict between the two of them is her conflict between her desire to be a businesswoman and her love for Dale and desire for family.
The decision between working in the home and working outside of the one is one that is rooted deeply with in our consciousness and is deeply rooted in class, something barely touched on in the book.
We are shown that there is a class difference between the Chatam's and the Bowen's, While the Bowen's are shown as owning a successful family business, a construction company it is implied that money is tight and that the company needs the job so that Bowen Sr.
can retire before he overworks himself as opposed to the Chatam's who are shown to have a staff and each of the Chatam's is shown to be successful, one way or another.
Still, the fact that the option for the Bowen women to not work outside the home shows that are at the least upper middle class.
The decision to be a stay at home mother is much less common in today's society where women are encouraged to enter the work field but in the current economy it is almost unaffordable to not have a twoincome household.
This book is something I think most Christians would enjoy reading, "Building a Perfect Match" is a light read, perfect for waiting rooms or long lines, Anyone who wants a clean, wholesome romance that won't take up to much of their time should try it out, However, if Christian themes are not your thing I wouldn't, I like the Chatam triplets and their ability to play matchmaker without really trying, In this installment their niece Petra is overseeing a historic hotel being renovated by contractor Dale Bowen who is also making modifications to the Chatam mansion where Petra is staying during hotel's renovation.
My only hesitation about the book is whether the plot line meets OSHA standards though I don't really know if the standards for new construction and renovations are the same.
I know that if I want to visit the job site as our new library is built, I will have to wear a hardhat, safety glasses, work boots and a reflective vest all of which must meet ANSI standards.
However, the fact that Petra stumbles over drywall while wearing sandals, twisting her ankle, which results in Dale carrying her does move the plot along nicely.
Anyway, it is a fun read, Chatam House, as Odelia and Ken marry, Asher, Philip, and Dallas's sister Petra finds love with Dale Bowen, One of the best Love Stories ever! I won't say a word about it, don't want to spoil it for you, : "Building a Perfect Match" was absolutely amazing and I loved it very much! The story line and main characters were perfect, and the ending was phenomenal.
It was so good that I could hardly put it down and was able to finish it in about a day and a half.
It was definitely one of my top three favorites in the Chatam House Series, and I'm extremely looking forward to reading more! The Right Man For The Job In charge of a hotel renovation, Petra Chatam's got everything under controlexcept Dale Bowen.
The toohandsome contractor has his own ideas about the project, And they don't match up with ambitious Petra's, who hopes to become hotel manager, But the more time they spend together, the more Petra realizes they both agree on what really matters: love, faith and family.
And they soon learn that building a future together is more work than building a hotel! It'll take a little bit of patienceand a lot of help from three loveminded aunts.
Chatam House: Where three matchmaking aunts bring faith and love to life, This fun story is about a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it, Always in control.
