Pick Up The Sexual Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes Originated By Larry Townsend Issued As EPub

was interesting. Reading tons of modern, mostly the BBC adaption johnlock this was fairly different than the fics written by and for mostly female fans and not the usual audience of smut erotica of "the old days".

Written by an author specialized in homosexual BDSM fantasy, this felt strongly a book written for gay and gayinterested audience by a gay author.
Obviously. The book still follows closely Doyle's antics the tedious Salt Lake Valley part of A Study in Scarlet is there and style, John Watson's point of view and the cases Doyle created.
This is really an adaptation and compendium, it you please of Doyle's Holmes stories from A Study in Scarlet to The Final Problem.
Townsend hasn't used every case in the books my memory might fail here, but kept the timeline, so you might guess where the book ends.
The cases are apparent and using their original or slightly adapted title, but all written as erotica,

The characters of Holmes and Watson are very much like ACD's characters, but with enormous sexual overdrive, Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, "Mary Morstan" and lots of other familiar characters are there, adapted into gay fantasy of Victorian London, The overall tone is grim: rape, hints of incest and sexual violence recurring

theme of sex without consent are evident and just rarely resented.
The character of Mary does a fairly humorous stunt in the background and Moriarty is "the Caligula of London, the Napoleon of crime", but they are the rare occasions of lighter tone.
The author's adaptation of "Mary" and Mrs, Hudson were my favourite, as they were adaptations I've not before encountered,

Would I recommend this For audiences already familiar with this kind of "original" erotica or early fan fiction, surely.
The erotica is well written and fairly arousing, The versions of wellknown ACD characters were interesting, even if nothing exceptional comes along, For readers who want to know the whole spectrum of different Sherlock Holmes adaptations, this might be a must to read.
But for a modern lighter, fluffier fan fic, or slash reader, this might be too grim, too something else they're accustomed to.

Naturally Your Mileage Might Vary, but at least most of johnlock is really monogamous and this is far away from "finding the true and only partner of your life", even if Sherlock's letter on Reichenbach Falls was also here heartsplittingly aching.
I found an old, beatup copy of this book and bought it for the novelty of it, From what I can tell, my copy is from its first printing, when the author wasn't even listed, The Other Traveller was the only author name listed,

Gay erotica isn't usually something I'd buy, but this was kind of a fun read, I'm amazed that tumblr hasn't gotten a hold of this yet, because I imagine this is most every Johnlock shipper's fantasy.
I wasn't quite prepared for how graphic it was I should have been, knowing the publisher is BadBoy Books and the amount of non consensual sex is alarming.
It follows the original stories surprisingly closely, except everyone's a gay male, even in the Mormon bit for Study in Scarlet.
To the rest of the world we were a pair of bachelor gentlemen sharing quarters, Between us, once the door atB Baker Street was closed against the world, we shared such momentsof blissfull contentment I doubt anyone outside ourselves could have understood or believed.
Here, at last, is everything Conan Doyle never knew about the legendary Sherlock Holmes, as recorded in the memoirs of the faithful Dr Watson.
Sex, mystery and high camp cross swords in Holmes' most titillating case! The Diogenes Club becomes an SM association, Mrs.
Hudson is revealed as a retired drag queen, and A Study In Scarlet becomes A Study In Lavender Lace, .
