My opinion: This book offered a nice selection of unusual, healthy recipes for both kids and grownups, Not being your usual light meal options, the meals were incredibly easy to prepare, Due to SOME of the ingredients and recipes, a potential purchaser might want to take a look at brick/mortar store or library prior to buying.
Otherwise, most recipes had simple/common ingredients, which should be easy to access, Sections consisted of each of the three meals, plus snacks and desserts,
There are really a whole lot of cookbooks out there similar to this format, I was looking for breakfast ideas, and found plenty of simple, quick recipes that look great! I can see myself trying lots of recipes in this one nice and simple and yummy.

Two very small niggles I'd like to see a few 'storecupboard' recipes if possible, all the recipes seem to call for at least one ingredient I don't usually have in the house, The next is more of a heartfelt plea Robin, please please please write a version for us Brits who don't have access to ingredients like Pepper Jack or cans of creamed corn :
Overall a very good and useful cookbook I'm sure I'll be using many times.

Food in a hurry for busy families, promising overrecipes using five ingredients or less that are suitable for breakfasts, school lunches, afterschool snacks or even a family dinner.
Looking through this book you do get a bit of a sense of a little voice shouting "hurry, hurry, HURRY!" yet the book steadfastly tries to keep your mind focussed on the task at hand, thanks in part to its simple yet effective design and great internal signposting.
Seven chapters split up the culinary day, with many sections inbetween so you can delve straight into, for example, dinner and then see all the pork recipes in one place.
A mini index greets you at the start of each chapter too, albeit sans page numbers, but that is a small but strange omission you soon work around.
Kudos must be given to the layout and design of each recipe, It is nearly perfect
oh, for the use of dual U, S. imperial AND metric measures. A clear title, a subdeck with portion sizing, preparation AND cooking time, A breakout nutritional information box and several icons to help identify things like a recipe is suitable for batch production, fun food or for finicky guests.
Then you start to read through the recipe and it is carefully presented in a wellwritten, simple, selfexplanatory manner, Just the thing you might need when the clock is ticking angrily against you, there are many voices shouting "mummy" or "daddy", dogs barking, cats getting in the way.
You get the picture! Can you be blamed if you think grabbing some convenience food from the freezer and nuking it in the microwave is an alternative When you have this book in front of you then you MIGHT start to feel bad as you reach for that frozen, relatively tasteless pack of minipizzas you picked up from the supermarket.
It would have been nice to have had some colour photographs of the finished dish, even if it just served to draw you in and show you that you CAN really make such a dish with severe family provocation raging in the background.
The range of the recipes is a pleasing selection and not just a slight variationonatheme that some books with a similar aim to this seem to churn out.
It was a surprisingly good little find this reviewer was a tad sceptical when picking it up as the cover just gave a bit of an impression of being yet another formulaic book.
What was the phrase about first impressions again Or judging a book by its cover,
The end of the book brakes to a screeching halt with a table of various metric conversions and equivalents, but that is no consolation and they SHOULD have been with each recipe.
A wonderfully detailed index lets you dig in and about this book by recipe name and key ingredient so you can really look at your food cupboard in despair and seek help about using up that sad looking tin of tuna or that large bag of risotto rice that your children try to spread around the kitchen after opening it in error.
You might even get a brief few seconds to actually eat and digest your creation too but the book cannot guarantee this.
