on The Orchestra Murders: A Cynthia Masters Mystery

Tuesday September,a murder was committed, Richard Warren was found strangled by the horsehair bowstrings of a bass, Richard was closely associated with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, Now, a symphony orchestra is a paradoxical entity, Like any team they train to perform as a group, to harmonize and become one, This musical unit consists of artists that are or could be in their own rights, While they strive to shine brighter than those around them their goal in an orchestra is the opposite, to blend in smoothly.
This, however, applies only to the practices and performances, The rest of the time they are constantly bickering and backbiting as it is a very competitive place, Alice Landersol, the orchestra manager calls and meets the police upon their arrival and performs in a cool and competent manner.
Daniel Matthews, one of the orchestra members, was seen bending over the victim with his hands on the strings that strangled him.
Detective Cynthia Masters, the lead detective on the case ascertained this within a few minutes of her arrival but concluded that it was too easy, too pat, too incriminating to be true.
She performs her investigative magic and soon exposes the real murderer, This is like many stories of this ilk, some are worse and some are better, If youre into who done it, youll be into this, THE ORCHESTRA MURDERS: A CYNTHIA MASTERS MYSTERY by Rena Fruchter is an exciting suspense set in modern day Philadelphia and London.

REVIEWED BY: AprilR, My Book Addiction and More/My Book Addiction s Sir Gregory Langhorne, conductor of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and his estranged son Jonathan have just reconciled when someone begins to murder the members of the orchestra.
Music critic Jeff Sadlers is newly married, Edmond Sutherland carries an old grudge, and Alice Landersol has a secret in her past.
It's up to Detective Cynthia Masters to determine the common denominator,

To be truthful, the first half of the book seemed to lag at times, with the narrative jumping back and forth between the back stories of the characters and the murder.
Between the two problems, I had trouble staying focused and almost gave up on the book, Fortunately, I toughed it out, The story gains momentum in the second half and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, It was nice to see the author pull all the loose ends together at the end of the story.

Certain characters were better written than others, Sir Gregory Langhorne and Jonathan really didn't seem all that real to me, and I had trouble caring what happened in their storyline.
Debbie, on the other hand, was a complex gal, She went from being a onedimensional character at the beginning to being the breakout character of the book,

As stated earlier, the book has a slow start, but is well worth the effort, For a mystery lover, this is a great read,

Strong language sexual situations,

Who would have thought that being with a Symphony Orchestra could be so dangerous You would think that members of an orchestra would be able to get along considering that whenever they perform they all have to work together to create their music and harmony.
Not in this book. There is a deranged murderer on the loose and he is targeting the members of the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra.

I just enjoyed the setting for this book, I never have heard of a murder mystery taking place within a symphony orchestra, Not only does Cynthia have to solve who the murderer is she has to figure out why murder seems to be attracted to the Langhornes.
