A story about one of the Philippines' heroes, Andres Bonifacio.
Written in a simple, entertaining way which will surely get your attention, Sincemarks theth death anniversary of Andres Bonifacio, it is but fitting that a book is released in his honor.
This book made me smile, because it showed that kids can be interested in learning about our own historywhich is a good thing.
It will also teach you more about Andres Bonifacio's life and make you want to learn more about him.
Great illustrations, too. Im biased because I know the author personally :v Ang ganda naman neto!!! :D
Irereview ko ito soon! :D Maybe it was hormones, or maybe something is amiss with my EQ today because things happened but I STARTED CRYING WHEN ANDRES BONIFACIO SIGHED.
He sighs a heavy one because believe it or not, he never was given an ample space for us to learn more about him.
Just like Andrew, we only see him in Heroes Park, read his snippets in Postcards, or a required read.
We never have had the chance to see his narratives, It's all been overshadowed by Pepe Rizal, or by Miong Aguinaldo
Suddenly, it hit me,
I was like the kid,
CURIOUS ABOUT THE LITTLE THINGS, like gaano katotoo ang pagibig nya kay Orang
AND SO, I CRIED, HAHAHA!
This book deserved that Children's book award because it was evocative in less thancenterfolds.
And I think this is want the author wants to the chikitings a chance to be curious, and a chance to ask questions, no matter how innocent or complex they are.
May ibobonifacio pang maigi.
This is the beginning of Andrews story, which starts at the Heroes Park, He just wanted to draw the statue of Andres Bonifacio when he discovers a few secrets in the life of the hero.
On story: A very quirky story of who Andres Bonifacio is, Children will appreciate this since the way its narrated was very simple yet unique, They will be able to relate easily especially statues, which can be pointed out to them therefore making learning fun, are usually seen in their community.
So always remember that whenever we teach children, their background knowledge about a certain thing should always be considered.
In that way, introducing a new lesson to them wont be that hard, Also, through that we will be able to address them in the most appropriate way by stringing their prior knowledge to the new one.
As a result learning will be more meaningful since children will see the importance of what they are being taught.
I love Andres! Kudos to the writer of this story, Its really a great one, Im sure Andoy is smiling right now, Very unique, very lovely! :D
On illustration: I love the fact that the artworks in this story have a Filipino vibe.
I love it! Because its truly nationalistic, I mean I just love the fact that the illustrator doesnt have to make his work too fancy, he just sticks to how our common community looks like a yellowish to greenish to brownish color.
The feels that this book has is very nostalgic, I feel like I went back to my childhood even just by looking at the pictures, The colors that he used also made me feel like the reality of what happened to Andres dawned on me.
I became really sad with the government that we have right now, Oh my god, I think Im talking and reflecting too much so thats it! In short, the illustrations are very Filipino and very inspiring.
I TOTALLY LOVE IT!
It is an unexpected close encounter of a young boy to one of our bravest heroes of all time, Andres Bonifacio.
Andrew did not only meet this remarkable hero but he also had a chance to get to know more about Andoy as a person and not just from the textbooks in school.
No doubt, Xi Zuq really deserved to be the recipient of award giving bodies such as Best Reads for Kidsand PBBYSalanga Grand Prize Winnerfor he has created a story that will encourage our students to get to know more about our Filipino heroes who fought for our democracy.
Lets not also forget Dominic Agsaway, the illustrator of this book and the Grand Prize Winner of PBBYAlcala Prize.
I know the author and know he has more creative ways of telling a story, I liked the concept over all, and the ending too, : Reading about Andres Bonifacio always makes me sad, But this book somehow managed to make me smile,
I liked how this book even if it is very short was able to give its readers a glimpse of Andres Bonifacio's life.
And the way it was related to the readers, I thought that Andrew's conversation with Andoy was a brilliant touch,
This book made me wish we could, indeed, talk to our heroes, It would be very interesting I'm sure,
I recommend this book highly to everyone,
Rating:/for both the story and the art,

A sweet and charming children's book about one of Philippines' national heroes, sitelinkAndres Bonifacio.
We celebrated histh birthday last year and this book was Adarna Publishing House's contribution to that event.
This is a story of a boy who wants to paint the statue of Bonifacio one afternoon when he is left by the bus at a town plaza.
The statue suddenly moves and talks to him, The statue tells parts of his life story and even coaches the boy on how to paint him and his loved ones.
Reminded me of Oscar Wilde's sitelinkThe Happy Princeminus most of the drama, that, by the way I enjoyed.
But this is the local equivalent, Not as striking, definitely not an original but it somehow works, Children will get to know more about one Rizal and Aguinaldo are the others of our national heroes like he held more revolvers or guns rather than his trademark bolo.
The tirades or banters between the two characters are also funny and amusing,
If only we can talk to statues haha,
