Secure A Copy Say That Things Change By Mina V. Esguerra Ready In Digital Version
up, if you're looking for a fun, kilig and quick read, or I should say, "Reads", as there are a couple of different stories here, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! And I am not kiddingit totally is.
And, get this: Most of the stories are in Tagalog, so if you're the type who has no time or patience to read heavy English reads, you can try this baby out.
Actually, at first, I was like, "Ayy tagalog yung iba", because with the exception of Bob Ong, I have not really tried reading tagalog novels/stories, especially those that are all the rage right now.
Not that I'm judging, it's just not my thing, but boy oh boy did I enjoy this one,
First, you have Jhing Bautista's "Six Degrees of Separation" and omg, I seriously posted this on Twitter, "Tagos talaga sya!" haha.
The story was refreshing in such a way that it gives a voice to people who have loved and lost and have been crazy and heartbroken at some point in their lives.
You know we've all been there I like the honesty of the story and the fact that two different points of view were used to show how each of the characters felt.
It was so good, I swear,
And then there's Jonalyn Cabigting's "Prince Charmee", Ay My god, RIOT ITO, The title in itself already says so much about the storyso think what you want to thinkbut I'd have to say, I really enjoyed this one.
It's funny in all the right places and so kilig and cute, too, If you're having a bad night or a bad week, read this, You'll feel all the good vibes, definitely,
Next up is "Before I Do" by Katherine C, EustaquioDerla. This one was also quite enjoyable and refreshing, It was frank and honest and perfect for every woman out there who's in a relationship that's either stable or stale.
It's perfect for those who are in dire need of some thinking and decision making, What's good is that the protagonist is not apiapihan, She's fierce and she's awesomeas each and every woman should be,
"Everything Is In Line" by Leng de Chavez meanwhile is perfect for every person out there who's connected to his or her mobile phone.
I'm pretty sure teenagers or teens at heart can relate to this, Hashtag alam na. wink
Rachelle Belaro's "Almost but not Quite", Awww, With love comes surprises Sure does, Those who have not tried being in a relationshipyetwill surely be able to relate to this, Plus, you'll also be able to relate to it since well, we've all been there,
Rayne Mariano's "Sharm's Side" is about the fact that while you may feel like you are often in the sidelines, or that someone else is put in the limelight more than you are, it doesn't mean that you will no longer get your time to shinewho knows Sooner or later, you will be placed in the spotlight and who knows what happens So, friend, di pa huli ang lahat!
And last but definitely not the least, Mina V.
Esguerra's "My Muse Apollo: Creation Myths", There's always a magic that comes with stories revolving college, Mina has woven her magic wand once again with this one of a kind story about two people from opposite ends of the spectrum.
It's kilig, it's lovely and it's interesting, The perfect way to cap off such an entertaining book,
Say That Things Change is a reminder that women these days are strongand are totally worth loving,
Bravo to this!

I was looking for a quick and easy read, and based on my experience, I had found reading local novellas the perfect fix for a reading rut.
When I learned that Say That Things Change is an anthology of novellas by local authors, one of whom is a favorite, I immediately grabbed the opportunity to read an ARC.
I had been reading a difficult book with a really distasteful subject, and it was all I could do to just chuck it.
A breather was in order and I knew that it was the perfect time to finally read this compilation,
First two pages, and I was taken aback, I was not exactly prepared for the medium in which the stories were written, Except for the last story which was entirely in English, most stories were in Taglish Filipino and English, For someone whose primary language is Hiligaynon/Ilonggo followed by English, reading stories in Filipino is a chore, Not that I dont read Filipino texts I had my own PHR Romances phase while in college but these days, I rarely read these kinds of books, except for one Bob Ong book I read last year.
At least the Filipino words that were used were contemporary, And I was thankful for that, It made my reading less difficult, Actually, it was the first story that sucked me right in and made me finish the entire collection, Six Degrees of Separation by Jhing Bautista struck right through my heart, It was just plain ouch, And true. Indeed, when you love, you give that person you love the license to hurt you,
The stories that followed there werestories in all brought me back to my teenage life, I was a mix of kilig and raised eyebrows, Ah, young love. Unrequited love. Assuming love. Haha.
Although most of the themes explored about love werent entirely new, I found my self agreeing with the stories because they all feel real.
Easily relatable. And full of lessons worth pondering, I could find fragments of my self past and present in the characters in every story, My only mild complaint was that the last story, My Muse Apollo: Creation Myths by Mina V, Esguerra ended abruptly. Good thing I was told that theres a second part, Something to look forward to! :
If I were to pick my topfavorites, they would be the following:
.
Six Degrees of Separation by Jhing Bautista,/stars. “When hearts break, they dont break even, Someones heart will lose a bigger chunk, ”
. Sharms Side by Rayne Mariano,/stars. “Sa tuwing gigising ako, gusto ko ulit matulog, Kasama ako sa groupies na mas pipiliin pang manatili sa panaginip kaysa sa realidad, Reality sucks. So why bother waking up”
, Before I Do by Katherine C, EustaquioDerla./stars. “And yet, despite everything I had just shared, I still couldnt get to admit to another person that I was lonely, at least not out loud.
”
All in all, I liked the stories in Say That Things Change, The Taglish may take time getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, I eventually enjoyed the stories.
Recommended for those who want light and quick reads, I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review,
Special mention: “Six Degrees of Separation” by Jhing Bautista amp “Before I Do” by Katherine C.
