I won this book on Goodreads and though I was in the middle of another book, this one stole me away.
Being Canadian I know very little of the KKK but after reading this story I discovered I knew even less than I thought I did.
The author appears to understand the situation well enough to make us fear for the safety of the various characters.
That makes this book hard to put down, I am thrilled to brag that I received The Dragon's Daughter by Sharon Honeycutt free through Goodreads First Reads.
Honeycutt has a great way with words, plots, amp character creation,
I highly reccomend this book!
I would love to see this become a movie as well!! : This book started out great.
I loved how different it was from
the world I was living it, The extremes that were completely normal for the character were completely out of the question when it came to my life.
I felt great sympathy for the main character, her best friend, her mom, her brother, and her lab partners family.
Towards the end though, I just really didnt feel like it got better, I didnt really like the ending that much, I really like the relationship between Chloe and Jeremy but I didnt really like the relationship between the main character and her boyfriend.
I didnt really feel like the reader got to know him as well as the main character felt like she knew him.
Overall, this was a pretty good book, I was excited that I received The Dragon's Daughter by Sharon Honeycutt free through Goodreads First Reads.
Once I read the first chapter I knew it would be a great read,
I couldn't put it down, just keep reading, Not exactly what I thought this book would be about amp plesantly surprised, Loved the store line of this book, What a great read!
I have a list of friends I am recommending this book to.
Within the first few pages of this book I was HOOKED! Mariah pulls you into her world and makes you feel for her.
The Dragon's Daughter is a remarkably insightful and empathetic tale of a teenage girl whose father is the leader of the local KKK.
She hates everything about the Klan and wants nothing more than to be a normal teenage girl.
This is a GREAT read and I highly recommend it! I just finished this book I love love loved it! I'm quite surprised at the book hangover I'm experiencing now Mariah Baxter only has to make it through two more years in Fountain Park and then she can get awayaway from her small town, from the kids at school who hate her, but most of all from her dad who just happens to be a grand dragon in the Ku Klux Klan.
For more than ten years, Mariahs worn the robe and hood, Shes gone to the rallies, carried the torches, For more than ten years, shes toed the line, Shes been the good Klan daughter her father expected her to bethere were no other options, At least, thats what shed grown up believing,
But Mariahs junior year changes everything, Her life suddenly becomes more dangerousand yet betterall at once, Taking a leap that will test the strength of the chains that have bound her all her life, Mariah might break free, but that freedom may cost her more than she could have ever imagined.
