After the Pain continues Hallie and Sean's story.
After losing Ryan, Hallie and Sean haven't really moved forward because of that wrong name thing in book, In this book you finally get to see them work out some problems while other things happen, trying to tear them apart.
Hallie is keeping secrets so it's causing some major drama, throw in some shady people and you got yourself one hell of an interesting story.


I enjoyed this book and I LOVED how their story ended, Ohmygod Gia, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE have an Alex novella or something out soon because I adore him!!! ltltltltWell book two was definitely more to my liking.
Sean is still around and I guess I've come to accept that that is not going to change, However, Hallie and Sean both have a lot to deal with in this book, And a lot of it revolves around Sean's past this time, We are also introduced to Colby who I really like, The ending leaves me questioning where this story is going, Is this the end of Hallie amp Sean's story or will there be more Could be interesting to see, :
Hallie has suffered a horrible tragedy and has slowly worked her way back to living her life, Music and singing has helped her heal, Sean has adored Hallie for quite some time but he also completely understood that she needed a lot of support to work through her pain.
They both wanted to have relationship as a couple but only when the time was right, Ironically a piece of Seans past comes back to haunt him and Hallie develops some new problems of her own.
Just when they both think they might have the relationship of their dreams circumstances change and problems arise, They both knew relationships are never easy but with everything that happens they have to ask the question of whether they are meant to be or not.
Pasts and present collide in this book over and over, There are many twists and turns that will completely stun you, Sean and Hallie will have to fight and stay true and honest with each other if they truly want each others total and complete love.

This book is a real love story with all of its ups and downs, I really loved this book because so many times throughout the book I actually laughed out loud, Its hard to find a story that can make you laugh like a crazy person one minute but have you in tears the next.
Sean and Hallie really make you wish that you knew them in real life, They are very strong characters that are defined so well that you feel like they could be real, I just truly loved this whole story so much, This is definitely a must read for everyone that enjoys a heartwrenching but satisfying true love story! Hallie Dawson was due for some happiness.
She lost love as quickly as she got it, leaving her feeling alone and helpless, She decides to take a chance on love with Sean, the very hot man waiting patiently for her to be ready to try to love again.
Everyone who read Between the Pain desperately wanted to see Hallie get her happy ending and run off into the sunset with the man of her dreams and her stash of candy.
Sean looked like the answer to all of our prayers, butnot so fast,

The love Hallie had with Ryan was perfect, and short, With Sean, Hallie experienced the real side of true love, The kind that comes with silly misunderstandings, complications brought on by insecurities, and dumb decisions made out of jealousy, The love and chemistry they have for each other is off the charts, and it sometimes threw reasoning out the window.


Hallie is still the same sassy and smart girl we met in Between the Pain, and falling hard for the second time has made her wiser in some ways but not others.
And Sean, well, is wonderful, His love for Hallie was often blinded by his fear for being second best and his insecurity is what made him the most lovable for me.
I love when a man loves his woman so much that it makes him a little nuts,
Sean and Hallies story is equal parts hot and sweet, and had awesome laugh out loud moments, Gia Riley gave us the perfect conclusion to their story, although Id love a story about Hallies BFF Alex who was a constant scene stealer in both books.

After the sudden death of Ryan, Hallie Dawson turns to Sean Thomas for comfort.

In the midst Hallie keeps getting threatening notes to stay away from Sean, Turns out it is from his ex who wants him back, On a business getaway Hallie runs into the ex girlfriend and Sean together where Sean does not explain the entire situation which leads her to break up with him.


When she returns home, she realizes she is pregnant and not hearing for him weeks she decides to leave and move back to her parents.
She figures she will tell him about the pregnancy before she leaves, Hallie been having a bad time with morning sick and one day at work she suddenly faints due to extreme dehydration.


Sean hears that she collapse and rushes to her side, She eventually tells him and they work things out as she moves in with her since she has a buyer for her house.
Can their love survive even among the ups and downs or will the next storm tear them apart

This is the second book in the series, I liked the first book but this one I absolutely loved, It picks up right where the first book left off,



After the tragic events that rocked Hallies world in the first book I was glad to see how she matured and was able to move on with her life in book two.




“Im willing to embrace the thought of another happily ever after as daunting as it may seem.

All the characters were back in this one but unlike the first one this one I really connected with them.
Alex, her gay best friend was funnier than ever, I loved the relationship he and Hallie had,



“Whats the big deal Shes my best friend, Ive helped her out when she needed me, Nothing sexual,” Alex pleads. “Id be more interested in what you have than her, trust me, ”



Lets talk about the main man in this book, Sean, I loved everything about him, He was sweet and thoughtful but, OMG!!! He was a total hottie!!!! I really felt the connection and love between Hallie and Sean and let me say this book had some seriously steamy parts that had me wiping the drool off my kindle



“I dont know which I should be more concerned about, the fact that you keep ring pops in the same drawer as your condoms or why you picked tonight to ask me this, but Ive waited so long for this moment I dont really care.
Hallie, youve been my girl since the first day we met, ”

“Im a complex guy, You havent had the full Sean experience yet, ”

“We arent over, Not by a long shot, Ill go get my damn ring pop if I have to, ”

This book had a plot twist I was not expecting but it added a nice layer to the story.
The author did a fantastic job with this one and I must say I loved everything about this book, I started this one and finished it in one sitting because honestly I could not put it down and needed to find out what was going to happen next.
I look forward to reading more from this author,
In After the Pain, Gia Riley provided me with the characterization that I felt like I was missing in Between the Pain.
I got to learn about the characters' background stories and see the development of Hallie and Sean's relationship through all of their ups and downs.
I really felt like I was able to connect to the characters in After the Pain, and I really cared what happened to them throughout the story.
There were smiles and tears involved, a sure sign that I truly enjoyed a book! There was drama and there were definitely ups and downs, but in the end, there was resolution, and Hallie and Sean got the happy ending that they deserved and that I so wanted for them!

A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review OMG! I had to actually stop reading this book at one point to dry my eyes because I was crying that hard.
Make sure you have tissues handy because you are in for a beautiful and emotional read,

After Hallie's romance with Ryan was cut tragically short in book one, it carries on a few months later where Sean, Hallie'snd love interest from book one, is still being the best friend Hallie needs right now.
But he makes no secret in showing his love for Hallie and after much thought, Hallie decides to open her heart again for Sean.

After the Pain is a Contemporary Romance novel about restoring faith in the beauty of love.
Can Sean put the pieces of Hallies heart back together Will love conquer all, or will jealousy and secrets tear them apart This story was very uplifting and had a completely different feel from the first book in the series.
Hallie has been using music as therapy to get back to a normal life and keep Ryan as a forever happy memory.
Sean is the man for her and she can't stand the thought of losing him, so through her struggles and emotional baggage, she meets Colby who tempts her.
. . he's sexy, sly, partially arrogant, and loves music, When the story unfolds, leaving Hallie with more problems then she has answers, she must make some difficult choices and follow her heart.


Sean's character was a little difficult to handle throughout the story, When I first started reading, I became frustrated with his presence because he seemed clingy, Halfway through the story, the author gave me the reprieve that I needed to put my faith back into his character.
. . the backstory. I still love Alex and Tanner because they always bring the light into any situation including the drama between Sean and Hallie.
By the end of the story though, I really wanted to read about the happy ending for Alex, Colby was the final character that really made my blood boil, I kept holding my breath through reading scenes with Colby until the very end because of his relentless pursuits,

I highly recommend this story to club members, Since it is told from Hallie's point of view, it targets a female audience more so then male, . . in my opinion. I really enjoyed the situations and dilemmas that the author allowed the characters to experience, It made the story feel real and their lives imperfect, We are all just people looking for the closest thing that we can call true happiness, "Along the way, we may fall but we don't stay down unless we choose to, " This seems to be the perfect moral for the series, I give this five because it was well written and my emotions were completely engaged throughout the entire story.
This is another amazing part of Hallie's story, we fell in love with her in Between the Pain and my heart broke in book one.
This book repairs my heart and continues the story of Sean's love and Hallie's struggle to get her life back after Ryan's death.


Gia Riley you wrote an amazing love story that starts before pain, endures pain and helps heal the pain.
Sean knows that Hallie is it for him and she needed to recover from the loss of her boyfriend tragically, but how long do you have to wait for someone to be ready to love again.


Knowing her heart and where she wants to go with Sean has never been a problem but knowing and doing are two different things.
Also coming into play

is how much music helps her heal, through music she heals and meets Colby at an open mic night where they both sing.
I was unsure how to feel about Colby and him pursuing Hallie,

Sean's past has never been brought up until this book where we finally get a glimpse of things when Hallie and Sean are at a conference in Las Vegas.
His future is brought face to face with his past, can Hallie deal with what she learns and all that comes with it or will this be the end of the relationship

This story once again had me in a mess of emotions just like book one, but this is one book you want to one click! Beautiful and very sensual

Gia has written once again something truly remarkable and heartwarming that hooked me right from the start.


In After the Pain Hallie and Seans journey continues, It was beautiful and emotional from beginning til the end, Of course there were a few challenging bumps which was expected and I am glad that they were able to overcome them.
The connection and love these two have for each other is very strong,

Hallie has begun to pick up the pieces and begin living again after the death of her boyfriend Ryan.
Her friend Sean has been by her side every step of the way, supporting her whenever she needed it, giving her the time that she needed before she could move on and begin living again, and even more important begin a relationship with him that goes beyond friendship.
Hallie has intense feelings for Sean but thought it was best that she take her time with getting involved with someone else afraid of what it would look like to others.
Finally deciding that Sean is where her heart now lies, and that she is healed enough to move forward, she goes to him after a "therapy" session at open mike night, offering her sacred ring pop candy in exchange for an exclusive relationship with him.


Hallie and Sean are strong together and their relationship moves forward, smoothly and she can finally smile and be happy since Ryan's death.
It all seems to good to be true and eventually they hit a bump in the road, when they take a trip to Vegas for Sean's medical conference.
It is there that they come face to face with Sean's past, a past that he has kept from her and looks extremely incriminating.
Hallie runs because she is hurt and afraid of feeling the loss of someone else she loves without ever hearing Sean's explanation.
Once they talk and Sean reveals all of the skeletons in his closet they seem to be able to move forward.
They reader cheers for them, because who wouldn't want Hallie to have her happy ending, she deserves it more than anyone else after everything she has been through.
And then the unthinkable happens, Hallie tells Sean a little while lie that looks anything but, And it is that lie that destroys their already fragile relationship, Hallie is miserable without Sean in her life, waiting and hoping that he will change his mind and come back to her but as the weeks go by she realizes that it may never happen.
And as if loosing Sean weren't hard enough, Hallie discovers that she is expecting, Determined that she can do this on her own with the help of her friends and parents, Hallie begins to tie up the loose ends of her life and prepares to move home with her parents to have the baby.
Planning to tell Sean that he will be a father but never finding the right time, he discovers that he will be a dad by accident one day.
It is everything that comes after his discovery that makes the reader fall in love with Sean even more than they already had.
