revised reworked and definitely not as dark as the original fairy taleA fresh perspective on the twisted tale There are great twists and turns as we try to figure out just who Rumple is Annora is the elder daughter of a widowed merchant She and her sister have been shielded from life but their father is not averse to exposing them to the seedier side of life especially his drinking and gambling But when his debts begin to creep up and he makes a stupid comment to get out of a debt Annora is swept up into his ployWhen she meets Rumple she is dubious of why he wants to help her no strings attached But as the story unfolds we learn that he had his own agenda of revenge which dovetails with Annoras plight Annora is a naive but feisty heroine who does her best to get herself out of her uandry but comes to reply on her secretive protectorIf you are looking for instant lovelust or a hot read this is not for you This is definitely a slow burn behind closed doors fantasy romance This has great sympathetic characters with a great collection of characters you'll love to hateI haven't read any of the other books in the series and I didn't think this hindered my enjoyment of the tale at all Great read and looking for THE REVIEWWhy this bookI love the tale

of RumpelstiltskinWhat I thoughtThis is the most uniue retelling of Rumpelstiltskin I have ever read In the original the king keeps her for three days to spin straw into gold The girl does so by the help from Rumpelstiltskin and she eventually offers up her first born child In this version there is then three days and Rumpelstiltskin isn't a creepy little man He isn't even named Rumpelstiltskin his name is Toybn and Annora falls in love with him This book was a entertaining read and once I got into it I couldn't put it down The mystery surrounding Toybn was intriguing I also like how the romance was a slow burn no insta love in sight This story had some great characters too some you love to hate I really liked this retelling and I recommend it to anybody who likes fairytale retellings A sleeperThis was a disappointing story by Ms Pope I've loved many of her other works but I really struggled getting through this one It is a very introspective story filled with well written descriptives of the environment and characters So much so that I felt I was reading English prose from theth centurywhich in most cases puts me to sleep So while a charming story it is not highly entertaining I can't rate this one higher simply because this author has much creative skill than what is between the covers of Threads of Gold And now I'm starting to get tired of the series The books while well written are starting to follow a super predictable pattern Girl meets boy they fall in love crisis challenges love and they spend the majority of their time during said crisis wondering when it's all going to end so they can have sex Annora Kelsden always feared her father's boasting ways would get her family in trouble and after he claims that Annora is so gifted she can spin straw into gold those fears become an all too awful reality when the king demands to see this wonder for himself Given three days to complete the impossible task she despairs for her lifeuntil a mysterious stranger offers his assistancefor a price What is to become of a girl whos father gambles too much and lies that she can spin straw into gold to pay his debtA romantic twist to the Rumpelstiltskin taleAnnora agrees to go to the kings castle in order not to show her father a lier But once she is sent to her room to spin the straw how many excuses can she come up with to hide the truth Why does this stranger come to her in the night to help her spin the straw to please the kingAnnora believes once she has paid the debt of her father the king will let her go back home The stranger is smarter than that and knows the king will never have enough gold no matter how much she spinsIf you like the re telling of fairy tales with a twist you will like this Try to determine who “Rumple” is and what becomes of Annora and her secret of spinning straw into gold Another great fairy tale twist from Christine Pope As with all of Christine's books I've read Threads of Gold was enthralling The characters Annora and Tobyn are complex and the plot well composed Threads of Gold is the retelling of the classic fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin I loved the intrigue and suspense I would recommend this and the rest of the Tales of the Latter Kingdoms series to all fairy tale lovers or anyone that just loves the romance genera Also as with the rest of this series these stories can be read as stand alone's There are at times small crossovers mentions of characters from other stories in the series but it is very seldom and are not pivotal to the current story line Drunkenness boasting and greed Then the really big uestion can straw be spun into gold I liked this one which is nice because I didn't really care for the last two books I've read of this series I could get behind the MC and love interest and for me that is probably the most important point in liking a book I wasn't able to do that in the previous books Dragon Rose being the exception Seriously you have to like the characters Assume this is the ebook edition Simple but effective tale A native of Southern California Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her familys Smith Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade Many reams of dead trees later shes happy to announce that her debut novel Fringe Benefitswas published by Pink Petal Books on AprilHer short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures Luna Station uarterly and the n.
