Human AU / Hale family is alive and kicking they don't make much of an appearance though, Derek is a popular jock until Kate Argent who is the same age as him and just a bitchy high school girl propositions him in the boys locker room and he turns her down.
Not taking well to the slight, she begins the rumor he is gay which just happens to be true, Unfortunately for Derek, this fic isn't set in Davis' Teen Wolf world and he is promptly ostracized by a homophobic popular crowd, At the same time, there is a new kid at Beacon Hills High School, Stiles, Stiles is funny and likeable and instantly enveloped by the popular crowd, Stiles and Derek keep crossing paths and Stiles reaches out to him with kindness, At the same time, the Sheriff is also kind to Derek, But this is a different Sheriff than usually depicted very out of character, but this fic isn't about everyone being perfectly in character, the Sheriff brings Derek home believing that the star jock of BHHS will be a good influence on his son and is he! But not so much in the way the Sheriff was hoping for.
At any rate, a relationship, a secret relationship develops between the two with an outed Derek and a firmly in the closet Stiles,

This fic, isn't the same story, but has the same "feeling" as sitelinkTales from Foster High, Little social commentaries lurking behind the scenes, while Teen Wolf characters are used to tell a coming of age tale of two teenage boys navigating their sexuality and social standings in a predominantly homophobic crowd.


Here's the deal, I have read this premise a number of times and have enjoyed it the John Goode books in the forefront of my mind.
But the majority of books I can think of with this premise are YA books with an R rating at most, This is a Sterek with an Explicit rating for some graphic sexual scenes, I did enjoy this story more for the original telling of it rather than the Sterek influence of it, In this we see a rather mature, adult acting Derek with a pretty good head on his shoulders, especially in situations where it would be beneficial for an adult to intervene.
I almost think this story may have worked better in a college setting to match the levels of maturity and sexual situations portrayed in it,

The ending of this, to me, is what makes it, It has a perfectly fit not overly sweet or melodramatic but warm fuzzy happy grand gesture ending that neither Derek nor I saw coming, Not everything was right with the world when it ended, but the ending made me smile,

For those that like these types of stories and the Human AU Stereks this is recommended, A sexy, feel good Sterek with a stress on the awkward teen troubles and triumphs,
