won this book in a GoodReads, com giveaway.
I found this book lacking in a lot of ways, Interested in what else I thought you can check out my blog,
sitelink wordpres Miniseries: Where Secrets are SafeStars It's been four years since her miscarriage and divorce and Ella wants to be happy again and she knows that to be that, she needs to face all her past demons.
The job as charge nurse in the Neonatal ICU of the town's children's hospital is a job too good to pass up and when her sisterinlaw Chloe calls to say she's in trouble, Ella knows she's made the right decision in her move.
Picking up Chloe andyr old Cole, Ella hopes that her ex will step up and get her brother the help he needs.
Brett was Jeff's best friend before he was Ella's husband and the two always each other's backs, Ella knows that with Brett's own background with an abusive father, and his personal commitment to protecting the vulnerable by founding The Lemonade Stand, women shelter, gives him the experience to deal with Jeff's progressing aggression.
Brett's shocked to hear about Jeff and Chloe's troubles and he doesn't hesitate to step up and see what's up with Jeff.
Having Ella in his town, working on the High Risk Team, and getting back under his skin, he needs to work fast to sort things out and hopefully get her out of his town.
But working through Jeff and Chloe's issues brings back all of their own issues too and the reasons why he had shut Ella out when she announced she was pregnant.
Ella slowly begins to see that the walls Brett had placed between them were for her protection not his, as he faced daily his fears of becoming a monster like his father.
He lives his life totally isolated from human involvement, even ties with his mother are strictly by text, cell, or email, never in person.
Ella's his achilles and the more time they spend together solving Jeff and Chloe's problems, the more it's obvious that they still love each other.
Not matter how much he loves Ella, he can't be the man she deserves,
This is such a powerfully emotional story, one that touched me deeply, Ms. Quinn is a wonderful story teller, breathing life into her characters and showing sensitivity and insight in the lives of the abused.
My heart broke for both Brett and Ella and I worried how Ms, Quinn was going to bring them back together where they belong, This is the sixth in a serious about The Lemonade Stand, and the secrets that are sheltered there, I'm sorry I haven't read the books before this one, though I will be seeking them out and I most definitely will be reading the one that follows this one.
This is a heart wrenching and yet, heart warming love story, If you've never truly understood how abuse affects a personchild or adultread this book, Brett Ackerman founded the Lemonade Stand, but his money doesn't really tell him what it means to the people who seek refuge there.
He's walled away his heart to prevent him from following in his abusive father's footsteps, and no one knows he's the money behind the Lemonade Stand.
Ella Ackerman divorced Brett after he rejected the baby they created, and she leaves him to grieve the loss of that baby alone.
Is it Fate that brings her back to take part in the High Risk Team She's glad she's there when her brother's wife needs help.
Even Brett steps up to help his former brotherinlaw,
But even a dawning understanding of Jeff's issues doesn't prepare Brett for the ultimate test and what Ella asks of him.
A story worth rereading again and again,
This is the sixth book in the series and the first one I have read,
Brett had sold his dot com business and was working/ overseeing many charity organizations, His work kept him very busy, One of the organizations he is on the board with is The Lemonade Stand for abusive women,
Ella was working as a Head nurse in a neo natal unit for high risk infants, She was also part of a high risk team at the Lemonade Stand, One day a grandmother dropped off an infant in need of help, The mother finally came in, Ella of course wanted to help,
Ella and Brett use to be married and the break up was done harshly, abrupt, But because of their work interest they end of back in the same town doing work that brings them together,
I really loved this story, I loved that it shows there are help for women out there and there is also love out there, even when it is hard to realize.
I cant wait to read the other stories in this series,
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, I think I'm going to have to avoid Quinn's work in future, There seems to be very little actual romance and instead features extremely dysfunctional families, deep psychological issues/trauma and lots of family abuse/violence.
Not an enjoyable read, I found this book to be such an emotional roller coaster ride for me, It took me through feeling and thoughts that I never thought about, The characters are so realistic and lovable, I mean how can you not love them with everything that they have been through.
The story plot if so real, and when I say real, I mean real! Once you pick this book up you find yourself lost in it.
You feel their feelings and emotions, This was the first time reading for this author and I have to say, she is now on my all time favorite list that I will be watching for more releases from!
Received for an honest review Starting over.
. . again!
