nontraditional, nonmushy expression of love, Delightful! This is a cute book, It is about how big a dad's love is for his son, Energetic celebration of the fatherson bond, My son loves this book except for one page where the little bear is terrified and hanging from a tree.
That was a little graphic for him but the rest of the book was charming, Super sweet lullaby from a dad to his son! Great bedtime read, Recommended purchase. Gr. Preschool. A very sweet picture book about the love of a father for his son, He compares his love to various things like "If my love were a fire truck, its sirens would flash all night.
" A perfect book for Father's Day and all year long, Highly recommended! So many books about a parent's love for a child focus on a mother's love this book is a unique treat in that it looks at a father's love and uses rough and tumble examples rather than quiet or sappy similes.
The high energy youngster will appreciate this book, Although I do wish the language could have been a bit more lyrical and poetic, A little boys dad tells how much he loves by comparing his love to fun things the boy likes: a fire truck, a rocket ship, a lion, a marching band, fireworks etc.

Told from the daddys perspective as he puts his son to bed, the writing is simple and rhyming, encouraging the child to read along.
Large colorful illustrations of the boy and his dad, happily experiencing the events make this a great bedtime story that I'm sure could easily become a favorite.

Based on the author Luke Reynold's song he created to sing his own son to sleep, If My Love Were a Fire Truck is a great bedtime story to lull a child to sleep.
Affirming a father's love for a son, it uses a a series of metaphors with big bold images by illustrator Jeff Mack that might appeal to many kids especially some boys firetrucks, rockets, fireworks, etc.
In a classroom, it use of metaphors might be featured in a lesson about that element, You can go online to learn the tune Reynolds uses to sing the song, Mixed media illustrations and rhyming lines enthusiastically celebrate the unique relationship between a father and his son.
An ideal read aloud for Father's Day or any time when someone needs a reminder of a parent's love, this picture book is not a quiet ode to reflective moments spent together.
Instead, it is filled with lively depictions of imaginary times spent together having all sorts of adventures.
Young readers will delight in the images and the thought of all that actionstomping, splashing, clanging and buzzing as might happen if the father's love were an elephant, a whale, or a construction site.
I had to smile at all the action depicted in these images and the notion of love as a horse in a rodeo where it "would bound and buck and bray" unpaged as well as the final scene in which the two finally spend a quiet moment together at the end of the day.
After all, even fathers and their little boys have to sleep, With some practice, this one makes a great read aloud and is effective in getting someone all revved up for the next activity.
Great "dad" read aloud :D If my love were a book, it might possibly be this one! Wonderful bedtime storybook.
Beautifully written with excellent illustrations, I'm not sure why this is so "specifically" a fatherson book Other than that all the things talked about are traditionally malegendered interests, but even so a dad can tell his little girl about fighting off dragons, or a mom could tell her son about fire trucks.
Just call it a celebration of love between a parent and child and let people make up their minds whether it "fits" their family or not.
Heartwarming! This is a rhyming book about the love between a father and son, It would make a nice readaloud for Father's Day, sitelink blogspot. com

It basically compares a father's love to many different things fire trucks, rockets, whales, rodeo horses, building sites, lions, fireworks etc.
. . I like this book, especially since it talks about a father's love for his children, but there are a lot of vocabulary words that would be harder for younger readers.
The pictures are amazing but I don't know that I will use it for story time just because of the vocab.

. Ostensibly catering to the vehicle loving child, but in reality designed for parents, I don't love books whose only message is that the parent loves the child, It seems disingenuous similar to sentimental printed greeting cards and I generally find them boring,

This book gets a handful of because the illustrations give it action and text is clever.
Youngsters who love books about transportation vehicles might think that's what they're getting when they pick up this book.
But it's not. Cute. Definitely geared toward the aesthetics of daddies and "boy" stuff but could go either way, A father's love for his son goes zoom, swoosh, vroom, boom! This energetic, adventurous, actionpacked lullaby about the bond between a father and his son is perfect for Valentine's Day, Father's Day, and any day!

Together, a father and his son are as powerful as a rocket ship blasting into space, a giant whale splashing across the ocean, and booming, colorful fireworks lighting up the night sky.
Celebrating the oneofakind relationship between Dad and his favorite little guy, If My Love Were a Fire Truck is a rhyming love song from fathers to sons that will become a cherished part of their lives for many years to come.
